I had such pains in my tummy I thought I was having labor pains. I had blurred vision,it felt like my eyes were rolling. I also had a fever.. Never again will I take this...

I had a bad MRSA infection. Took one pill and had horrible stomach cramps, so bad I could not move for hours. Then four pills later I started having trouble breathing and it lasted all evening. It go so bad the next day I had an all out panic attack. I have never had one before and it was horrible, I could not stop crying, I couldnt speak, worst of all I couldnt breathe! I have also had bad headaches everyday, and have no appetite, I problably haven't eaten more than 3 meals in the past 5 days. I've been on this for 5 days and I still can't breathe, I cannot wait to finish these meds. Although I had horrible side effects and are still experiencing them, my MRSA infection got 75% better after only 24 hours and is still improving.... Still have 5 days left tho... hope I have no more side effects!Read More Read Less

Treated for severe bacterial (unknown) sinus infection (chronic sinusitis) with inflammed sinus, nasal passages, and one ear passage. Generic SMZ/TMP DS 800-100 TAB..2x/day for 14 DAYS. This medication definately works, but was accompanied by extereme sickening nausea, some vomiting, extreme loss of appetite, weight loss (lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks), migraine level headaches, throbbing in head and behind eyes, dehydration, fatigue, faintness, light headedness, vision loss, insomnia if taken too late, hot flashes, joint aches, kidney aches; and on top of all this I was directed to take it with Mucinex-D 1200mg...oh my God. Bactrim/combination makes you feel worse tjan dying. My last dose is at 7 pm tonight. I have had not hives or rashes, just flushing of my skin and putting off heat. I am 10,000x better than before taking the medication, but the extreme nausea is still killing me. It might take me a few days to get used to being off the medication. The drug seemed to make me feel better after day two of treatment. However, after that point, the side effects kicked in. No appetite, severe dry mouth, worsening of Bronchial symptoms, shortness of breath, and I was unable to sleep. Have continued to take the medication in hopes that the full regiment might resolve my lung infection, however, with three and a half days left I am some what skeptical.

I have Giant Cell Arteritis, which causes the red cells to attack the largest arteries in my aorta which causes aneurysms. I developed proteus which caused the last aneurysm. So I have to take Bactrim for the rest of my life. So far I have had no problems with it. And I also have to take prednisone every day for the rest of my life. I have neuropathy, and have oseopenia. I am a 64 year old b/f. So I guess it is covering everything.

TAKING FOR Absessed skin infection, took it for 5 days, on 5th day, got horrible hives, itchiness.Off of them, minot side effects I could deal with, dry mouth, loss of appetite, but this, Oh no..I havent taken the med since Frid , still having hives -side effects.but I need to be on antibiotics so I dont have a reoccurance.

Took for a bladder infection that was getting bad. Noticed after 3rd dose severe joint pain. Couldnt sleep at all the pain was so bad. Dr took me off immediately. Also had no appetite at all. BAD

I am hesitant to take any prescription but I really needed to get rid of my UTI. So my Doc put me on 2 pills a day for 3 days. With the first pill I noticed it clearing up and no side effects yet. Second pill I noticed I woke up in the middle of the night a lot and was hot on my face and neck. Third pill in the AM continued red face and still hot like a mild fever but I had no fever. Forth pill in the PM same thing as the night before waking up and still hot. Fifth pill I noticed my face even redder than yesterday I was irritable due to being hot on the face. Then the headache kicked in. I didn't take the last pill I didn't want to see what the next side effect would be. The headache though was the worst side effect, throbbing like a high blood pressure headache. I also noticed being in the sun made the red hot face worse. All though the Bactrim cleared my UTI successfully I don't think I will ever be taking this again. I'm not allergic to anything and that just scared me.Read More Read Less

had severe lethargy,nausea,and body aches. discontiued med,symtoms diappeared. Would not reccommed a drug whose use is banned in other countries.This drug is dangerous if prescribed for anything other than a severe infection,and that is pushing it.

SEVERE allergic reaction! Was on Bactrim for 4 full days, feeling a little strange the whole time. By 4th afternoon could barely breathe and heart was racing out of control. Had fever and nausea. Local hospital could not understand symptoms as an allergic reaction and treated me as heart patient, continuing to give me the drug for upper respiratory infection. Nearly killed me! All allergic reactions are not alike.

Bactrim destroyed my daughters health. Left with chronic bronchitis, peripheral neuropathy, fatigue. It is not worth the risk.

I had to go to a dermatologist for a few years who was prescribing Bactrim DS to me for the acne I had. It did make the acne more manageable.

Severe allergic reaction. Swollen/aching joints. Swollen face and hands. Severe headache/fever. Sweating. Took 5-10 days to recover once stopped using.

In previous years, I've had effective results. Only recently, I've experience severe reactions to this medication.

I am so glad to see the comments from other users on here. I thought I was crazy. After taking this for a sinus infection I started experiencing severe fatigue, extreme blurred vision, sleep apnea, aching in kidneys, pulsing headache behind eyes, joint pain, indegestion and all of the other side effects associated with this. I couldn't sleep b/c I was hurting so bad. Just a constant ache. Has been horrible. Will never take again.

This was the best medication I ever took for my frequent urinary tract problems. The problem for me was that after 2 weeks of miraculous improvement, I had a severe reaction to the medication that sent me to the ER and was told to never take it again. Turned out that I was allergic to the Trimethoprim part. I was very sorry I could not take this medicine anymore.

I was prescribed the Bactrim DS twice daily for 10 days after a large abscess on my leg was drained... I took it for 9 days. It caused the first and only migraine I ever had in my life, and I was given a shot of imitrex to relieve it. I had hide grade fever between 101 and 102, and now, after taking the last pill about 4 days ago, I have experienced hives every day since the last one I took. I have found that claritin and benadryl help suppress them, but I am just wondering when the heck they are going to stop coming!! I have already been seen in emergency for this, but this medicine has done a lot of damage to me physically and in my professional life. I'll never take it again.Read More Read Less
