I have taken Bactrim several times, twice a day for 8 weeks, for prostatitis. It really cleared up my symptoms. Side effects were mild, a bit of stomach cramps. I am only writing because vast majority of reviews are bad, I want to be the positive voice. I wonder why most reviews are negative. I am sure there are many many more people who have taken Bactrim with no problems, they just don't write reviews. Too bad!

I had surgery on my legs and stomach. Been on keflex for 2 months then went off it and developed Cellulitus in my leg after swimming in a pool 3 months post op. ER doc gave me keflex again and this new drug Bactrim in case I had traces of staph in there. Ughh I took it 2 times a day like instructed for 2 days, all I could handle. Bactrim made me freak out, Felt like I did speed, coffee, crazy diet pills, had twitches and shakes. Felt like I had a constant blood sugar crash for an hour to 2 hours after taking the pill. I got very aggressive and had symptoms of extreme PMDD/PMS when I haven't had PMS in YEARS. My husband got nervous I was close to being violent. horrible drug and hope the keflex continues to clear up this infection because I will never take Bactrim again.Read More Read Less

Took bactrim for staph and urinary tract infection...Each day I was getting sicker and sicker....By the 3rd day it was like I could taste the meds in my nose...It was awful. I was so tired and naueous. I really thought something was seriously wrong with me..It took me another couple of days to get it out of my system..I would not reccomend that anyone take this drug....

My condition actually worsen and I experienced irregular vaginal bleeding from this medication along w/continuous abdominal pain. I am seeking further medical treatment.

I was prescribed this medicine for an infected insect bite on my ankle. I was to take it for 10 days. By the 7th day, it cleared the infection up, but gave me severe hives. I had to go to an Urgent Care Center for help as I developed a fever and the hives kept coming on even after discontinuing the drug. The physician and pharmacist both told me they had never seen such a bad allergic reaction. The itching was incredible; my face is still beet-red and has now begun to peel. This was the worst experience I've ever had and I am encouraging every one I know to say "NO" when offered this medicine. The medicine was presecribed for a staph issue. Seven days into the 10 day cycle, I developed a high fever, rash, body aches, and severe headache. On the ninth day I stopped the medication and developed cloudy vision. My 6 year old daughter took the medication two weeks prior for a staph infection and went through the same thing. This medicine could have killed us both. I would not recommend this medication to anyone.

I have been taking Bactrim for almost a week. I take 2 tabs twice daily for a staph infection. It has made me have a headache almost every day. I have devloped muscle twitches, and SWEAT like a pig. Its crazy this is supposed to make you feel better, but i actually feel worse since taking it!!!

took care of my infection but I ended up highly constipated

I have been on Bactrim twice a day for 11 days. My doctor confirmed that I have MRSA and prescribed me an additional 7 more days on the Bactrim and a nasal spray. I broke out in hives on day 8, I ache all over (feels like I have the flew), and I feel like my eye balss are going to pop right out of my head. In addition I have new lumps on my neck (by my glands) and in the back of my head.

i have been on bactrim for 8 days, i had it prescribed for a sinus infection. my voive doesn't sound as wierd as it did before i took this. so far though i have had the WORST side effects i've ever had on an rx, right after i began taking it i have had severe constant nausea, vomiting, headaches, couch, short of breath, my mind feels like it's in a cloud, and i'm super weak....i called my doctor today she said to stop taking it as i've already been on it for a week. she said it sounds like it's not an allergic reaction, but my body doesn't want to take it.i absolutely hated the side effects of this medicine, i will never take it again.Read More Read Less

I took this to stop the spread of infintigo that for some reason I get it once in like 5 years or so. But the thing I dont like about it is the taste of the pills cause you taste it even after u have swallowed the pill an it does taste horriable..

I don't know what everyone is complaining about. You are all just allegic to the stuff, quit bashing it cause your body can't handle it. I have been taking it and other than slight upset stomach and some huge farts it has not given me any bad side effects.

After I complete the prescribed dosage, I had allergic reaction of getting a severe skin rash from my chin down to my toes. It took approximately one week for the rash to disappear.

I WENT TO THE ER FOR BOILS ON MY RUMP. BAXTRIM DS FOR 14 DAY TWICE A DAY AND I HAVE BEEN SICJ WITH SIDE EFFECTS. I CANT EAT HOT AND COLD EXT. BUT IT'S HAS HELPED!

This is only my 3rd full day of taking this (4 more to go) and since this morning I have a severe headache and i am very very tired and somewhat moody. I DID just get home from hsp after major surgery so I expect to be tired and achy but hope I don't also get all these other side effects I am reading about!

it worked well pills are kinda hard to swallow

The rash over my entire upper body was scary and severe after only 6 days of these meds.

After 5 doses of Bactrim DS, my 79 yr old mother broke out in a rash or petechiae looking event, on her inner thighs and later this rash became redder and moved to her lower back area. The areas did not itch. Her essential tremors became more pronounced and her stomach was upset for the last 24 hours.
