After the first dose of medication I was immediately ill. I felt like I was getting the flu. Then the screaming headache starting with vomiting. I could not sleep because of the pain. I lost my appetite. I took the medication for 2 days (4 doses) after the 4th doses I stopped. The material listing side effects from the pharmacy listed these side effects and i was scared. After reading the other reviews I know feel better knowing I am not alone. I have not taken the bactrim for 2 days, headache and vomiting stopped, but i still like I have the flu. If this is prescribed by you doctor, ask for something else. I felt like, "the cure was going to kill me".Read More Read Less

All in all the drug has done what it was suppose to do which is clear my UTI. I was prescribed the smz/tmz ds 800-160 dose; 2 pills a day for 10 days. The only downside were the side effects. Experienced naseau, constipation that later turned to diarrhea, upset stomach, loss of appetite, itching on my arms and occasional fatigue. Praying I dont get another one of these... hope this was helpful.

After the second pill, had high fever, chills, body aches, stomach cramps and a horrible headache..realized that this had to be the meds - stopped it - took hours for the headache and fever to go away...I had taken this before and was real sick the last time but we thought it was because the infection was so bad but I realize now - I CAN NOT TAKE BACTRIM...please pay attention to your body!!

IIt wasnt 24 hours from taking it, i woke with a bad headache. unable to look at the light or sun.i was unable to eat or drink anything, felt dizzy and no co-rdination in my walking. Less than 12 hours later i woke up from a nap with a severe headache, shaking, vomiting, disoriented, could not function. i ended up calling a ambulance and being treated for a allergic reaction i guess.

I have fatty liver disease, can I continue to take this medication?

My Dr. put me on this to try and solve my mysteriously swollen lymph nodes. The first day I started this antibiotic I immediately developed a sore throat that got pretty severe as the hours went by. I thought I just happened to be showing symptoms of my mysterious illness... the next day I developed a fever, and I didn't feel like eating anything, and my skin started to itch sporadically. Fast forward 6 days in, I woke up in the middle of the night, freezing cold, with a temp of 102, gasping for breath...my heart is racing and will not slow down. This morning as I was getting dressed I looked in the mirror and noticed a rash forming, splotchy and red, most intense on my upper arms, my face was straight up beet red (still is) and the rash spread over my entire body. Finally, I got ahold of my Dr. and he had me discontinue use. I didn't take my pill this morning and I haven't had a fever or sore throat...only this stupid rash. Overall this is the worst experience I've ever had with an antibiotic...I had over half of the side effects (mostly the severe ones) and had about 6 in the extremely severe category. Overall while taking this medication to help with acne, so far I've had minor side effects which would include some itching and loss of appetite and slowly helping with my acne issue.

i had severe cellulites on both fore arms and left hand, was hospitalized because was so bad went into sepsis state. I got released with prescription for bactrim ds / 14 days and keflex. Am on day six , it difficult to take them, hard to swallow, pretty bad nausea , and gas .......infection is clearing up , am grateful for that. praying dont have any more side effects . reading these posts are pretty scary , just remember everyone is different in how they are going to react to any drug. listen to your body and report immediately any bad effects. Caused hallucinations on 3rd or 4th day of use althou this is not listed as a side effect. icontinued use because didn't beleive Bactrim was cause of confusion and hallucinatins. Finally switced to different antibiotic with cleared uti.

My doctor prescribed a 10 day course of treatment along with another drug Flagyl. I experienced insomnia while taking the drugs. I don't know which one was the cause.

Was on the generic version for 10 days...Infection is almost gone. Was wondering why my muscles and joints are so sore and why I'm so exhausted...Now after reading the reviews I know why...I've also had a problem sleeping...These symtons not as bad as what others have experienced...just hope infection clears and don't have to take any more.

Reaction to drug: small blisters from base of neck to wrists bilaterally; small blisters above the knee and some areas of the back. Itching in blister areas. No blood test done to evaluate liver enzymes. Symptoms controlled by Benadryl, but took more than 4 days for the blisters to disappear (leaving small scars that are healing.)

When i started taking this drug i had no idea of the side effects.After 8th day i felt sick & tired, soar all over. Went on line to Web md and found that many people were having these symptoms. 9th day i have a rash all over my body and of course its a weekend and cant go into doctors till monday.Will never ever take this drug again.. Whats gone to happen next ?

Took for a uti, possible kidney infection..was terrified about side effects but only tummy upset and tiny rash first day..Take on full stomach..Took seven days but am no longer peeing every two minutes or in severe pain

I was diagnosed with a UTI and prescribed Bactrim DS. I'm still taking it but the problems resolved within at least a day. I haven't had any side effects that have been mentioned in other reviews.

I dont like big pills.
