some antibiotic resistance: cannot be certain until C&S completed even that may be a question of hit n miss

I was started on this antibiotic to treat Impetigo. I'm currently half way through the treatment, and the only side effect I'm experiencing is appetite loss which isn't much to complain about. So far it seems to be helping clear up the affected area and decrease swelling. On the upside, it has also cleared up most of my acne on my face and including my back. Overall I'm satisfied with my doctors choice on this antibiotic.

I took this for a prostate bacterial inflamation. I was a bit nausious at times but i started feeling better after 3 days. the problem was all but gone after 7 days.

I have used Bactrim in the past with no side effects, taking it at bedtime, for adult acne. This time however, I took it for 3 nights and had insomnia until about 3 am. Insomnia is a rare side effect for this rx. I might be able to tolerate it if I took it in the morning instead, but haven't tried yet.

I have been on a 10 day course of Bactrim DS for an infected knee cyst. I experienced mild nausea and headache if I took the meds on an empty stomach but otherwise temperature regulation (chills/sweating) was the only side effect I experienced. I did take Align probiotics once a day to combat those "other" side effects.

As soon as began treatment of the generic version of this drug, I experienced severe headaches and lethargy. I took three and a half days of dosage with a constant headache, tiredness and lack of appetite. Although it may work for some people, it is not one I will take again and had my pharmacist mark it on my charts as a no-go.

The doctor said I actually had a kidney infection; I felt faint, weak, and nauseated. The medicine and some bed rest relieved all of these problems and caused me no discomfort/adverse side effects.

I took this medication for a large abscess on my arm. I took this medication with a B vitamin complex, which I read can drastically reduce the side effects (a B9 vitamin supplement is what you need, folic acid). . I have been told when taking antibiotics, it's good to help replenish the natural bacteria in the gut with a probiotic, so I'm going to be taking a probiotic along with B9 at lunchtime. In my opinion, as long as you take this drug with vitamin B9, it's unlikely you'll have bad side effects, and it is a very effective drug, which I have been told works well on even antibiotic resistant bacteria. Because it was effective with no side effects, I got my Dr. to prescribe it again to me, though this time for acne. It worked way faster than doxycycline and minocycline, and after a few weeks, it did more than many months on those other commonly prescribed acne antibiotics.Read More Read Less

covered in red hive like rash, made me ill, light headed

I've had UTI's since I was a little girl, and now I have them once or twice a year. I have always been prescribed Bactrim until two weeks ago a provider prescribed Macrobid. BIG mistake. Ended up at urgent care three days after my last Macrobid. One urine sample and one shot of pain medicine later, they sent me home with a double dose of Bactrim. Ah my old standby. I already feel better. I'm a little foggy, but all antibiotics make me feel groggy and blue. Great broad-spectrum drug!

This medication worked for me but gave me headaches.

Since taking this medication, have lost 5 lbs, nausea and vomiting and fatigue. Loss of apetite. Ended the medication and still having nausea and vomiting after 7 days. Cleared up the skin infection but will never use this drug again.
