After 4 days of treatment began developing rash on neck, chest, inside of arms. It is helping the staph infection I think, but the itchy rash in beginning to become unbearable. Think I'll stop the medication and revisit dr. tomorrow.

took 2 doses, developed severe pain on both lower legs. could not put any weight on them or walk at all. it's been 3 days now and my right leg is almost back to normal, but my left leg is still hurting. at least I can walk now.

I have been taking this medication without any side effects... seems to be working

I was prescribed Bactrim after allergies to penicillins and tetracyclines (got rashes with all). After taking 2 doses of Bactrim (one day) I got VERY extreme anxiety and sleep apnea. I am calling doctor and will not continue taking any oral antibiotics for my acne.

Used to treat sinus infection. The infection cleared. The worst side effect was horrible sleep patterns...up every 2 hours. The last two days of 15 day treatment I have a swelled throat in morning. I'll assume a side-effect.

Started taking bactrim 2/20/08. This past Sat. I started with flu like symp.& pain in my joints, bad headaches and broke out with a rash all over. My kids were worried about me cuz I've been so lethargic. Funny thing is I was given this med. for acne and only one side has improved a little. Calling doc in the a.m.

bactrim works great for sinus and lung infection.....and doesnt bother my stomach...i have no side effects from it...

After 2 rounds of ineffective antibiotics (Cipro & Cephro) my dr. prescribed Bactrim, along with a prednisone, to clear up a nasty sinus infection. The medicine did appear to clear up the infection, but the horrible side effects I've been experiencing have me longing for the sinus infection instead! I've been nauseous or vomiting every day that I've taken Bactrim. I've also been dizzy, lethargic, and experience severe, unprecedented anxiety.

My daugther was given 2 rounds of this medicine to treat MRSA caused from a cut on her knee. During the last round she developed a rash on wrist and knees and her throat was swelling shut. Great medicine if you can deal with the side affects.

I took this medicine for a UTI and a few hours later huge welts appeared on my skin. I also got diarrhea from it as well.

This medicine worked great for me, by the 3rd dose i was feeling better. before this i was on another antibiotic and it wasn't doing anything for me. thank goodness for this drug.

WHOA! I Took two (2) pills, became extremely dissy, bad headache and loopy.

My daughter was given this med for a possible staph infection. She developed sever flu-like symptoms after two days, stopped taking the med and was sick for the rest of the week. Her test for flu was negative. Now 6 weeks later she is still have unexplained abdominal pain, which I think stems back to the med... All tests for other diagnosis have been negative. More testing tomorrow.

I was first given this medication a month ago for the flu because I am allergic to Penicillin. When the bottle was almost gone I had gotten a rash so bad it felt like bugs were eating my skin alive with huge red hives. At the time I thought maybe it was from a food allergy. This time the doctor prescribed it again for a UTI and just after taking 2 I am breaking out in hives again, feel weak and nauseous.

Went in to clinic for cellulitis on leg. Received Bactrim DS. by 5th day, blood pressure shot up to 180/100, pulse 106.Had severe lower abdominal cramps resembling the pain of kidney stones - I've had 2 of those in the past. Developed itchy rash on inside of arm.Severe diarrhea, anxiety, muscles and joints became sore.BEWARE!!! have tests for allergy to this drug before taking, this drug is only used on AIDS patients in the UK after publicity about it's dangerous side- effects. Look up Brian Deer's website about it (he is a journalist in the UK). Many deaths and permanent/long lasting injuries from this. I will never again take it, not ever. Read More Read Less

Have taken it for 4 days and it has not done anything for me

I think that if a DR. is perscribing this drug they should ask you if you are allergic to Sulfa!!My daughter was given Bactram because she had an allergic reaction to Guardisil, now her whole body is broken out and she is miserable!!I would like to know how long the rash lasts before you start seeing any signs of improvement or getting any relief? I hate to send her to school like this, other kids can be so cruel.

broke out in a serious rash around genital area very itchy and painful, half hour after taking the antibiotic, had to change to macrobid, found out i am allergic to sulph in the pill

Was given this medication to treat staph infection. Took it for an entire week and on the last couple of days started to develop red circular blotches on my arms. The rash spread like crazy to my legs, stomach, back, and neck. Needless to say, turns out I'm allergic to Sulfa. Totally scared the life out of me, dr. said the reaction is called erythema multifume. Scary stuff, beware of sulfa!!! Now I'm taking Prednisone to eliminate the allergic reaction..its taking time but the red circular blotches are slowly disappearing. Hooray for Prednisone!!!Read More Read Less

I went to Dr. 3 days ago, I have bronchidis (sp?) and sinus infection. They gave me an antibiotic shot there and I started taking the Bacrtim 2 days ago. Yesterday evening I started getting a sore throat but it's weird, like i have a frog in there. And after I took my dose tonight an hour or so later, it feels like the frog is back but worse than last night. I dont know if I should continue to take it or not. Not sure if it is a side effect of the Bactrim, or just a soar throat.
