I was prescribed this medication along with Keflex. I'm not sure if it worked or not for my skin infection. I broke out in itchy and painful hives all over my body. I haven't taken either medication since.

I suffered a SEVERE allergic reaction that was almost fatal and left me hospitalized for ten days. My symptoms were extreme joint pain and nausea as well as fatigue. I began taking the medication as prescribed on a Monday, by Thursday evening I was feeling ill, and hospitalized the following Monday. My bone marrow stopped working and I had an almost ZERO white blood cell count. I realize this was a rare instance but anyone experiencing joint pain while taking this medication should notify their doctor. Headaches and nausea occurred but the joint pain was prominent for me.Read More Read Less

I took this medication because Macrobid did not cure my UTI. I was in severe pain before I started this medicine and now I think the side effects are worse. Not only do my bladder and kidneys still hurt but I feel like I have the flu--fever, shakes, chills. I have insomnia and abdominal pain and I do not want to eat even to take the medication.

After 3 days I had incredible insomnia. Continued taking and became very nauseated with bad headache, lethargy and an overwhelming feeling of depression.UTI is cured but I feel like crap. Glad to hear others having the same issues. Will stop taking immediately!!

AS we all know different medicines affect different people in different ways. After readiing other peoples comments, there were more bad than good. Which leads me to my comment. This is my second time taking this medication, each time for a staph infection. The first time I hade no side effect, and I guess it helped. The second time I had a savere allergic reaction and had to be admitted into ECU. I had only been on the med about three days and wasn't taking the full dosage prescribed. It started with the palm of my hands itching, then a few hours later my whole body was itching. I broke out in a red rash and hives all over. My feet and hands swole and my knee and elbow joints ached. By the time I got to the Dr. I was very faint and my blood pressure had dropped dangerously low. He gave me three injections, cortizone, predizone and one other I dont remember. He admitted me to the ER by way of ambulance during the ride my pressure dropped again. I was given an IV. The ER Dr. monitored me for about three hours and determined that it was an allergic reaction to Bactrim. He stabalized my pressure and heart rate and decided to discharge me with a prescription of predizone and over the counter benadryl. It has been 24 hour and only minimal improvements. After taking the predizone the rash got worse again, this time evan behind my ears. still have rash and itching. The swelling of the feet has went down. I guess it will just have to run it's course. Given for a non-specific staph infection on my leg. 7 days into treatment couldn't get out of bed because of intense joint pain, swelling, and overall lethargy. Began developing other welts on other leg. Determined to be "some form of auto-immune." Stay away from this drug!!

This medication nearly killed me. Almost every classic reaction I had. After 2 days of taking Bactrim, I first had nausea, then vomiting, then muscle cramps, then heart palpitations, sweats, then my muscles froze, mostlty in my fingers and stomach. After reaching the emergency room, i had a rash all over my legs and arms then my tongue swelled to twice its size. It took 2 shots of benedryl and 2 shots of prendesione for my reaction to go away. It took almost a week for my tongue and speech to return to normal. Never again!Read More Read Less

My infection might be better, but I feel horrible - run down, constant headache, foggy, lethargic. Plus, I cannot get to sleep at night, which doesn't help things. I was glad to read online that this was common because I just thought it was me.

After taking for 8 days I developed a horrible rash all over my body and have had fever at night for the last 4 nights. It's horrible!!! Do not feel like myself at all. Dr. gave Prednisone to counteract effects so hopefully I'll feel better soon. Will never take Bactrim again!!!

Felt blah, run down and plain old sick. Digestive trouble started about mid way through the 10 day treatment. Was also taking Omnicef with this med. Raspy scratchy throat, dry cough. No energy. Have been off meds now for a few days and still not feeling great. Infection cleared up. But side effects still hanging around.

I was prescribed Bactrim DS for 10 days to treat a chronic sinus infection (3 months). I am on the third day, and I have had no side effects. Reading other reviews, I noticed that it took quite a few days of use for side effects to occur. However, I have taken Bactrim before with no problems so I doubt I will develop any severe reactions. My symptoms are improving steadily and that's a very good thing!

Other than a slight upset stomach from time to time, this medication is not expensive, and hardly no side effects and does the job and can be taken for long periods of time.

Got MRSA from my roommate. I had to take a whole week off work while I was on this. Dizzy, headaches, fatigue etc. Basically you feel like you have a really bad hangover for the whole duration of use. I think it is b/c this dehydrates you. Drink lots of water! Also, my roommate took the same meds and had a severe allergic reaction to them (hives and felt like he had the flu).

My daughter and I both had painful staph infections. This cleared it right up and I was more than thankful. The only down side is that the pills (for adults) are huge and hard to swallow. they also have a bitter chalky taste.

using for treatment of MRSA staff infection as a wrestler I get this more often than the norm and have tried several remidies It Does its job, But at the expense of neasuea, deep pain headache, and severe cramping/Muscle soreness. There are other drugs that more effective without the side effects ie. cephflex (spelling?) I reccomend duckin this med and asking for something else for me the above side effects lasted for a period of 24 hrs after last dose taken
