I had a really bad cough for a few days and it was so bad that I couldnt breathe at night. It had me up all night. My chest was hurting every time I was coughing. As soon as I took this medicine, I stopped coughing right away & I slept very well that night. The next day I felt very dizzy, weak & I wanted to sleep all day. The medicine is worth taking but you definitely will have side effects. I also had dry mouth & I had weird dreams. But over all, it did the job of helping me with the cough.

I have used this drug for 24 months now. I have sarcoidosis which is an inflammation of my lungs. Although I have read a lot about the adverse side affects of repeated use of tis drug, I have experienced know of these. The direction say that it may be taken 1tsp every 12 hours, I have found that 1 tsp every three days is sufficient for my needs. Please do not exceed the dosing schedule.

Prescribed this drug for night-time coughing. I am hypothyroid and noticed some references in literature. After using a few nights I noticed I felt very drunk and dizzy during the day. Not sure I should be driving. Have never used a drug whose effects lasted more than 12 hours after dosing. Be careful.

giving this medicine to a person with alzheimers has very bad side effects and causes hallucinations

I have suffered from severe asthma since I was a child. My asthma attacks usually turn into pneumonia. If I can catch it quickly with breathing treatments and Tussionex, I can avoid being admitted to the hospital. This medicine is a life saver. It immediately calms my coughing and allows me to get some rest. I have had no side effects and the taste is not bad at all. If you do not have insurance, it's very expensive. I highly recommend this cough syrup!

This medication should be ILLEGAL !!!! To strong for just Bronchitis. This medication made me end up in the emergency room at the hospital. Could NOT urinate, bladder completely shut down. I could not stop itching. I itched so bad that I actually caused bruising on my skin. If you are going to use this medicine be sure to FOLLOW DOSE DIRECTIONS. You can OVERDOSE VERY easy on this medication.

I am given this whenever I have a sinus infection to help with coughing and it helps me sleep at night. I highly recommend this drug to fellow sinus suffers!

I had a horrible bronchial cough for 4 - 5 days, my ribs hurt terribly and this medication helped stop the cough, but left me very dizzy, lowered my blood pressure and made me feel weak. It also caused me to have horrible dreams and jump in my sleep. It did help the cough but I could not drive while on it and did not like the dizzyness jumping in my sleep.

I have had a cough with my cold for 25 days now. My dr perscribed a 5ml dose at bedtime. It doesn't make me sleepy at all and seems to be about 50% effective on the cough. I thought the dose seemed too small so I called the pharm. and they said it was the standard dose. Not sure this EXPENSIVE cough medicine is doing what it promised.

Made me very tired, but I woke often with weird hallucinating dreams. However, it will quiet a cough.

Had a really bad cough causing my ribs to hurt and my head from coughing so hard. Took medication for three days...1 teaspoon twice a day. Condition was much improved within four days.

It quieted my cough and I was able to get the sleep I needed to recover from my Bronchitis, sinus infection and ear infection,the antibiotic I was taking was OK but this really helped me recover.

I have a history of chronic bronchitis. My doctor has prescribed this each allergy season for almost 20 years, and I swear by it. Tussionex is the only cough medicine that works, and it tastes good too.

Twice a year I get sinusitis with a hacking,annoying,painful cough. This is the only cough syrup that works. Long lasting. My doctor agrees that it is the only cough syrup that works. It is much stronger than codeine, doctors are cautious prescribing, and common sense should be used when using.

Caused excessive itching.

I was prescribed this medication last night in the E.R. and I spent all day today sleeping and feeling very ill, dizzy, bad headache and just very off balance. I started to feel better this evening and figured I had just caught something but when I took it again tonight for my cough I feel the same, sick and dizzy. Also, as someone else posted, bad dreams and almost hallucination like symptoms. I do not like this and will never take it again.

I had an acute casre of bronchitis with a ddry hacking cough. My fellow emplyees did not want me there nor did I want to be around the pt's. This medication sure quieted done the the cough.

I have a nasty sinus infection. Getting drainage and it was making me cough my head off (until it was hurting) and actually made it hard for me to breathe. Went to the ER and they gave me a prescription of this and gave me a dose while I was there. Within 20 minutes I had no urge to cough or anything. Unlike my g/f who has a UTI and is on C-PHEN, Tussionex doesn't give you the loopy side effects. Yes it makes you a little tired but nothing bad at all.

This is the only cough medicine that I have found to actually help me stop coughing. I have chronic bronchitus and every time I even get a little cold my coughing is out of control without this. I would highly recommend, the price is CRAZY but it works and it's worth it.
