For a couple sleepless nights,I had severe couphing "episodes"(as I called them)... to the point of choking / gagging. My regular doctor was not available so I went to an urgent care type of provider for help. After initial exam, and x rays, was told I had a bit of bronchitis and what my options were for medical treatment.#1 Mucinex or #2 Codein. I was told if it(coughing) was keeping me up at...
Im not very happy with this medicine... Have had a chronic cough for months, and the doctor has given me this a few times. Dont really help.

This is the best cough medication there is. It is the perfect blend of ingredients and works the entire 12 hours as published. It is expensive (compared to all the other's that don't work), but worth it.

I have used this cough medicine to relieve my bronchial cough for years - never more than for a few days. It is the only one that has always worked for me

Extreme cough which was not improving and wasn't allowing me to sleep, causing further issues. Physician concern that pneumonia was a possibility due to past experience. The medication was highly effective in controlling the cough, allowing rest, preventing pleurisy.

I had suffered from a bad cough for over 3 days and decided that I needed something strong to take away the urge to cough. I had taken this cough medicine before, and it really works on the cough. However, this time it frightened me, because I must have taken a little too much at once, or should not take it in the morning, because I had horrible time driving to work (could not keep my eyes open!) and it causes you to drift off and jump awake. It also made me want to itch and scratch-almost maddening. Finally, my face feels raw, almost like it's sunburned, but haven't been in the sun. If I take it again, I will make sure to stick to dosage and take only at nite or over the weekend.Read More Read Less

i wish i could feel 24 hrs a day the way i feel on tussionex, wonderful!!! i could really like this drug BUT i won't let myself become addicted and this cough syrup is highly addictive BUT it is he best cough syrup made. i ask a phamacist, what is the best cough syrup made??? he said. " without a doubt, tussionex, its expensive but theres nothing out there that works near as good!" tessalon perles, the syrups with the dm in the name isn't worth a dime. a doctor told me that!!alot of dr's won't give it because it is addictive. i hate when you go to a dr and you know works good for you like tussionex, and a dr will say no, i am not givin that to you but try this, and what he wanted me to try and i do and its not working on my cough!! why can't dr's take our word for it when we say,i've had tussionex one time before and it worked real well. then they should give it 2 u. if its the best thing made then your dr should give it 2 u!!! i hate when a dr argues and says try this tessalon perles and you say, i've had that and it doesn't work. WAKE UP, WE WANT WHATS BEST FOR THE COUGH!!!! not robitussin, rondec dm, promethazine dm tessalon perles, delsym!!, all these are a joke!!!Read More Read Less

Took this medicine for sinusitis and bronchitis. I finally got a good night sleep, but I woke up real drowsy. Then I read the interactions. I wasn't supposed to take my Benadryl with it. Oh, and I have never had such weird dreams. I can see why people get addicted.

I am a fan! Allows you to sleep all night while you are ill. Shocked me at the register but I would not do without it. It really is a miracle drug.

After visits to an ENT and Allergist to no avail and a bunch of unnecessary prescriptions later, finally visited a new clinic and was prescribed this med by a PA and after one dose my cough, sinus drainage and sleepless nights came to an end. It's a miracle drug yet expensive but well worth the $31 w/ insurance which seems to be a lot less than others have paid.

this drug works well for me, expecially at night I get a tickel in my sinuses. It stops that. Doctor is afraid that if I use it, I will get addicted. It's very expensive, therefore, I would not over use it. I have COPD. I need releaf!

I paid $60 for this medicine with insurance. It helped my cough, but not any better than niquil did, and at least I could sleep on niquil. Tussinex made it hard for me to sleep and have crazy dreams. I suggest only purchasing tussionex if you have really serious brochitis or asthma, not for a normal cold. I feel I was burned by my doctor(who was a new one to me) and my pharmacist. Basically I paid $60 for a bottle of dimatap or niquil. I don't even want to know what this stuff costs without insurance. My wife was sick a few weeks ago, she had a $10 bottle of some kind of cough syrup that contained codeine as well, and it was much more effective. I very rarely go out of my way to write reviews on anything, but I am so upset that I am out $60 for basically a bottle of niquil, that I feel I have to share it with others so they will know better. Hope this will save alot of people from wasting their money. Oh and if the pharmacist asks you if you want to add flavor to it for $3 extra because it is bitter, say no, because it tastes like bublle gum. It's bad enough that you're paying $60, then they wanna add $3 more. Good luck.Read More Read Less

I was using this drug for leg pain and after effects of throat cancer. Used for appx 4 years. It is very addictive and is very hard to get off of. Be careful with use of this medication.

Immediately stopped my cough! Slept like a baby all night but woke up feeling a little like I was re-living the 70's. Overall I was surprised that it is a narcotic, but it works and that is all I am concerned with.

Definitely clears up a cough. I took it first and then decided to read up on it after I started feeling like I was stoned. I had no idea it was a narcotic type medicine. I couldnt handle this during the day so I recommend taking it at night before bed. Will make you very loopy.

I have been sick on and off since October with Bronchitis and have been on so many diff cough meds. Robitussin AC(codeine), promethazine. Tusselin Pearls, which did nothing. Tussionex really has helped the cough. We have Caremark ins and the charge was $20.00 not too bad. There is NO generic version of this medicine, but does work great if your Ins covers it.
