As a RA patient, my doctor and I looked at many scrips for this disease, didn't like the chance of all the side effects of some, this seemed easy to use with the least amount of side effects. After taking the meds for 3 years, my doctor pronounced me : In Remission : and told me to come back in 6 months. All I heard was the words, In Remission, and then quit taking the meds that day. I went alo...

High risk side effects and drug interactions. Higher risk for older patients.

Has anyone on here had problems with dry eyes, vericose veins increasing and/or the veins in their eyes being inflamed and red? I'm not sure if it's the lupus or the meds. I feel better though. I'm only taking it once a day to try to improve side effects.

I have Psoriatric arthritus and was put on hydroxychloroquine to help with pain. It did not but I have suffered tremendously with visual problems. I also have severe hearing loss which I attribute to this drug. I suffered most of the side effects listed in articles about the drug. I was started on a high dosage and continued the formula for months. I cannot read without some of the letters of words missing. I have flashes of light and have had extensive visual problems. My hearing has gone down hill so much that I can no longer enjoy movies or even be able to make out the words spoken on television. I was not set up for tests which should have been administered. I feel I have been done a great injustice from this medication as well as from the doctor that prescribed it. Read More Read Less

The medication worked for my rheumatoid arthritis but it damaged my eyes and it happened very fast - I kept all my eye appointments. I now see blinking arches all the time and sometimes neon purple flashes. (It's kind of like the blinking lights in las vegas - when I look at a person I see a blinking arch above their head.

My new doctor gave me this medication on July 19. I am to see her again on Sept. 29. I have not taken the med because I am very succeptable to stomach problems. I informed her office and my pharmacist of my uneasiness about taking it. I take methotrexate once a week and it works for me.

I've been taking Paquinil for 2 years now and I LOVE it. I've read the other reviews in search of an answer. Has anyone else had unusual weight loss as a side effect? I've lost 25 pounds since starting, and I wasn't over weight to start with.

I been taking meds for 6 months along with Naproxen as needed for joint pain. The rash is barely visable anymore on my face. I can exercise now mildly and slowly at my own pace on the treadmill. I sometimes get chest/lung pain, the Naproxen helps.

Feel some dizziness occasionally and have some muscle weakness. But my mouth sores, joint pain, and other Bechet symptoms are most days totally gone. I've been taking it for almost 3 1/2 years now.

I'm having problems with my psoriasis flaring up. That's why I went on webmd so I could find if hydroxychloroquine was causing it.

I tried other RA medications of the injection and infusion type; had side effects and intermittent flares. Have used this drug for about 2 years with little swelling or pain.

My biggest fear of this medicine has happened: toxin build up in my retinas. I've taken this for 4 years to control my autoimmune connective tissue disorder, to keep my skin from looking like a fire victim. It's done very well, but my semi-annual field of vision test revealed toxin buildup in the retinas. That's scary. I hope it recedes; I quit taking this Rx, at least until the next field of vision test to see if the toxin has decreased or is gone. I hope it's not permanent!
