This immediately helps alleviate finger joint discomfort & reduces the occurrence of polymorphic light eruption (PLE) bumps. I do not have itching with PLE & have not yet had my eyes tested so I cannot comment on those two items. I'm glad I decided to try it out. I'm usually averse to medications, but it's hard to dismiss the benefits I receive from the prescription. I take two twice a day with food. I haven't found anything yet to counteract the gas.

On this medication for 2 years now. Took at least 6 months before I noticed any difference. Could not be out in sun for more than 10 minutes as I developed a sun sensitivity even with 3 coats of 60 SPF sunscreen on! No noticeable rash on my face but more of an interior burn, very uncomfortable and painful but in the last few months this has gone away and my Rheumatologist has no idea why. I'm absolutely thrilled about it but wonder why it has gone away. Has this happened to anyone else?

This med has helped with my pain but I have developed a rash since using it. I am concerned about the possible side effects on eyes. Am considering go off it, just think that a constant rash is not good.

As a RA patient, my doctor and I looked at many scrips for this disease, didn't like the chance of all the side effects of some, this seemed easy to use with the least amount of side effects. After taking the meds for 3 years, my doctor pronounced me : In Remission : and told me to come back in 6 months. All I heard was the words, In Remission, and then quit taking the meds that day. I went along my merry way until one morning about a year later, my arms, hands, neck, legs, feet were so swollen I had to be driven to emergency room. I was in the beginning of a nasty Flare and it took a month to get back in to see my prescribing doctor. This is one medication most times you won't miss until you quit taking it. At the time I went into remission and mistakenly thought that remission meant cured, I had not even had previous RA symptoms except in my hands. The disease of RA will continue in the body, with or without medication, but now for this lady who is smarter later, the meds will keep me up and on my feet in most cases. There were no side effects for me with the Hydroxy, but it does take time to work in your body. After a month of being back on the Hydroxy, I can finally close both hands and get my fav shoes on my feet. Very Thankful for small miracles....Read More Read Less

First day I had no issues. The second day, only a short time after taking the second dose, my lips & throat felt swollen. By the time I was brought to the hospital, I was already having serious breathing issues with intense wheezing and swelling of the throat. Epi, Benedryl, IVs, 3 Respiratory Therapy rounds before the wheezing starting to subside. This allergic reaction then through me into a Lupus flare and I've been in bed for days now. When they said its rare to have an Allergic reaction, well maybe that isn't exactly true. Read More Read Less

I was recently prescribed this drug to go along with Methotrexate. I have had diarrhea and stomach cramps every time I take it. I need to discuss with my doctor, continual diarrhea is not good.

I've used it for two years with moderate results. I have noticed my vision blurring this last year. I must eat before taking because it causes stomach pain. I also have experienced constant back pain. I'm seeking additional opinions about whther to continue use. I'm not sure that I've benefitted much from this drug.

I have auto-immune problems (Lupus runs in my family) I have severe joint pain and fatigue, I started taking this medication and there is a notable difference in the joint pain, I haven't been on the medication long enough to know whether it will damage my eyes.

I have been on it for 5+ years. It has made a big difference with my joints. Make sure you have your eyes checked every 2 years at least. It has caused me to have major eye problems.

I have been taking this medication for more than a month due to arthritis pain on my right arm and coccyx area, suddenly I had an episode of diarrhea of unknown cause and ended up in the emergency room, no fever or infection where found, I was given medicine to stop the diarrhea and follow the diet prescribe, after 24 hours of clear liquid I added rice and banana, the following day I started having diarrhea again, so I took the medication to stop it and decided not to take the hydroxychloroquine and discuss it with my primary care and she agree with me to temporary stop the medication until I feel better. I di not have diarrhea since then, I'm back to normal diet.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this drug by my Rhuematologist because I have Polychrondritis, I have been taking it twice a day for almost the last six years. I guess you can say it is effective, I have nothing else to compare it with.
