I am 65 yrs. old. Have been taking Prempro for approx. 12- 15 yrs. and hope to continue forever. I look and feel great. No side effects that I'm aware of. My Dr. encourages me to stop taking, but I keep telling her, "why fix something that isn't broken". I started out on the highest dose and 3 or 4 yrs ago switched to the lowest dosage. I have no history of breast cancer in my family, it's ...

I have been on the lowest dose for about 8 months. Hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia were relieved but I slowly started experiencing bloating and weight gain. I look like I'm 5 months pregnant! I can't stand it and I'm going to stop taking them. I will cope with the hot flashes & insomnia some other way.

I was having severe hot flashes. I gained 50lbs and had no energy. Now I rarely wake up in the middle of the night and I can enjoy sitting in a room with others.

Why is it that this particular drug has NO generic available? The cost is prohibitive for me; but I feel so much better when taking it.

I was leary taking and HRT drug but the hot flashes were ridiculous and after talking with my MD she put me on the lowest dose of Prempro. She said try it for two weeks and see if I want a script. Well, the first week- nothing. I almost gave up, then end of second week it worked like a charm. After one month I do not have any side effects, for which I am extremely grateful. I will reevaluate need with MD after 6 months but at this point I am 100% satisfied with prempro. I want an estrogen patch but I still have my uterus and MD says I have to take the combo therapy drug. See your MD for your options. But for me I am sticking with this little wonder drug. I have tried black cohosh, vitamin E, primrose oil, soy and so on and so on. Like the recommendations say, take the least effective dose for the a little while. That works for me.Read More Read Less

My biggest fear is that this valuable medication is vanishing from the market due to a silly panic reaction in the ignorant and male dominated TV news media. Their credo: if it has anything to do with "s-e-x" work the story to death no matter how bogus it may be. I've been on Prempro for years. I'm told by several MDs that the reported side effects happen very early in the treatment, if at all. The Australian study was flawed because 65% of subjects were heavy smokers, and over half were also morbidly obese. Therefore, cardiac symptoms were in the cards for them. Meanwhile, a good friend of mine lost part of her jawbone thanks to Fosamax. Our bodies soon become immune to the "imitation" and health food store hormone substitutes. So please let's not give up our only viable choice. Read More Read Less

Offers relief for night sweats and hot flashes, I haven't had a period in over 15 months, but after only three week of being on Prempro I started my period and I feel terrible. I have flu like symptoms and after reading these reviews I will be calling my doctor tomorrow.

Just quit Prempro 9 days ago. Feel great. Took Prempro fora little over 2 months. The first month the bloating and gas were horrible. Had a headache daily for 2 weeks. Felt like crying all the time. Started to gain weight. The second month noticed a significant amount of scalp hair loss. Stopped taking and went to doctor who said they had never heard of scalp loss as a side effect but I found it is listed as a rare side effect. I am in a better mood and hoping the weight will go down again and the bloating is easing up. My daughter is a resident and was upset when she found out my doctor had prescribed Prempro. She said the bad far out reaches the good of this drug and she would never prescribe it herself to any patientRead More Read Less

at 49 i started having bad hot flashes, memory problems, overall feeling of blah. had my labs drawn and needed hormones. bio-identicals are not for me as you can become immune to them after a few years. have been on prempro for 2 weeks and feel so much better. the hot flashes are not as bad. my frame of mind is much better. my memory is getting better. will continue for now. follow up with labs and mammograms.

Three days in : I'm 48. 1-year free of periods at 46. Have had facial flushing more and more, and TONS of memory challenges and aphasia. Very frustrating and is affecting my job performance, = not good. Asked my dr. about HRT for memory problems and flushing. I've been on .3/.15 for 3 days but noticed tension-type headache on 2nd day. I do take Dilantin 400mg/day for epilepsy also. Today had low level headache virtually all day. However, headache went away during step aerobics class! I'll notify my doctor. I had planned to try HRT for one month but won't get that far if headache continues!Read More Read Less

I was having terrible hot flashes and not sleeping well. Both improved almost right away. But I had not had a period in over 2 years and after 3 weeks on the drug, I have been having a period for 2 weeks with no signs of stopping! I am on the middle dosage. Will be seeing my doctor in 3 weeks.

I have only been on PremPro for a week so I am really concerned after reading the reviews that have been posted. I was in hopes that this medication would relieve my hot flashes, vaginal dryness & sleeepless nights. Now I am not so sure, after reading the posts I now know why my stomach is hurting so much which was not a problem before. I have been struggling with this since I was 39 and am now 42. Is there no hope for me!

Began menopause at 47...at 54 flashes were suddenly awful. Begin Prempro..flashes went away in the beginning. However bad headaches, felt terrible and skin burning began that would last for hours. Breast swelling. I stayed with it believing "I had to get through it" as my body adjusts. Do not wait..get into your doctor. Worst decision I ever made.

I have been on Prempro for 3-4 months.Only after reading the side effects on this site, did I realize how much of my ill health may be attribulated to taking this! I have gained 15 lb, but eat less (some days feel like I'm going to throw up); have stomach bloating, the breast tenderness(which left after the 3rd week) has returned with a vengance; irritable with NO libido-unable to reach climax anymore; sinus congestion & headaches (migraines are back also); dizziness/light headedness.Need I go on?I'd been blaming ALL but the breast tenderness on other things. I'd even started taking it every other day.On the off days, the tenderness was less severe. Then I would take it, & it was severe again. It is NOT helping with the few symptoms that I started taking it for.Read More Read Less
