The painful sinus headaches vanished. My sleep pattern was greatly improved (haven't slept well for years) and I was able to get 7 to 8 hours of solid sleep after several months of on and off taking it. MY COMPLAINT: After $1200 of doctor bills and tests I discovered my extreme knee pain was from taking this. My knees burned under the knee cap and felt very swollen inside, very painful just to wal...

Every once in a while, I get really itchy eyes, and a runny/stuffy nose and this works fine, although it needs to be a little more potent I think. But it's better then taking something that makes you sleepy I suppose.

It seems to work to unclog my nose and ears but makes me way too jittery and irritable. My sleep is brief and punctuated with disturbing dreams. After it begins to wear off, I feel very tired. I would NOT give this to a child unless you want them bouncing off the walls. Yearning for a better alternative.

Why does Claritin (for children) NOT mention side effects like twitching? My daughter, 12 yrs old, recently developed allergies. The doctor told us to pick up Claritin (over the counter) for children and give her the 2tbsp/day dose recommended for children her age. Within 3-4 days we noticed involuntary twitching in the right side of her neck. The next day it became more frequent and noticeable (her head tilted and eyes shut while the twitching happened). At first we didn't understand why it was happening. We decided to stop the Claritin dose and observe her (and take her to the doc only if it did not stop in a week). Sure enough the twitching reduced and eventually went away after a week or so after we stopped giving her Claritin! I was looking online for info/cases linking Claritin to twitching. I found a couple of websites that claimed that Claritin was NOT linked to twitching! There is no warning on the label to make patients aware of such side effects either.Read More Read Less

Although this drug cleared up my drainage in my sinus' and ears my body cannot handle it. I developed terrible anxiety after day 4, then came the dizziness and shortly after that shortness of breath! I am a healthy, fit, 29 year old woman. It has been 3 days since taking the last pill and i am still slightly dizzy, anxiety free and can breathe normally. Yikes!

I have tree allergies and I take Claritin to relieve the runny nose, post-nasal drip, and irritated throat and eyes that go with it. While it relieves these symptoms very well, I am having the worst insomnia I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I feel desperate for a good night's sleep.

I tried Claritin-D 24 a month back for my sneezing allergy problem. It wake me up early in the morning with a severe backpain then my Dr mentioned it's because of D, Sudafed content which opened up my easophagus. Again after a month I tried Claritin 24 (regular) in the morning around 11am. I experienced back pain around 5pm on the same day. The back pain is severe when I cough or sneeze (its around the upper back muscles). So I'm convinced that it's because of Claritin. Either its D or regular, this drug has side effects of backache/back muscle ache etc. The positive side is, it helped fixing my sneezing problem.Read More Read Less

I switched to this medicine because a similar medicine bothered my stomach. I have been on it for a few days and noticed that I am getting achy especially in my legs and arms. It feels like the reaction I get from Cipro. I can't take it because it flares up my tendonitis. I was glad to see the other review where someone else had this side effect but I did not see it listed.

I was waking up with mild headaches every morning, and my doctor recommended taking a Claritin every morning even though I had no other allergy-like symptoms. The headaches went away after only 2 days but came back a few weeks later. In addition, I experienced increasing nervousness and some sleeplessness. I never saw these two side effects listed on any internet sites, but when I finally checked the package, I saw nervousness and sleeplessness listed as reasons to discontinue use. I should have read the package weeks ago!Read More Read Less

My 13 month old son has been having frequent ear infections/sinus problems, which they believe is caused by him cutting teeth. I have been giving him Benedryl but when he ran out I decided to try Claritin so it wouldn't make him sleep so much. I used it for 2-3 days and it had no effect on his symptoms. He had trouble sleeping, was irritible and would wake up screaming. I attributed it to the infection. Fast forward 2 months later and I decided to try it again. After 1 dose, he went to bed, woke up within 2 hours, screaming, wild, inconsolable and with a tight, gas-like feeling in his tummy. It took us nearly an hour to get him back to sleep. THREW THE BOTTLE AWAY!Read More Read Less

Claritin is made for minor irritations connected with allergies. Claritin D is a "decongestant", which has pseudoepidrene in it, which must be signed for at the pharmacy. Those who don't read the label and take pills continuously, instead of "when needed" are not apparently reading the label. Like most medications, prescribed or over the counter, you must read the label to obtain correct dosage. I've used Claritin (not D) for several years and have had little or no side effect with it. Sham on those who put down a product because of their own stupidity.Read More Read Less

I started taking Claritin (24 hour) daily about 10 days ago for seasonal allergies. My nose is better, my eyes are better but about two or three days ago I started getting headaches and dizziness. As Claritin is the only new item in my system I believe it is the culprit. The headaches and dizziness are making it difficult to do even the easiest things so I am going to stop taking it. If it clears up, then I know it was the Claritin. If not, off to the doctor I go.

I have had seasonal allergy and sinus problems nearly all my life and have spent a small fortune on prescription and otc drugs. Now, because of my age, it has come down to what my body will tolerate and I've discovered Loratadine 10mg 24hr tabs do a fair job for me. I am allergic to anything with diphenhydramine in it so that takes most other meds out of play. Pseudoephedrine raises my blood pressure.

I've had allergy symptoms, which include runny nose, fatigue, and a chronic headache--day and night, which won't quit. Took 1 Claritin in the morning, and 3 hours later all of my symptoms disappeared. It gave me more energy than I could possibly drum up myself. I got two days worth of work in 5 hours. However, I have had about 1 hr. of fragmented sleep since yesterday--24 hours ago. I'm still going. Let's see what happens tonight.

When I first began claritin 10 mg. I felt wonderful...best I've felt in a few years. I've taken this medication for 2 months. About one month ago I began having knee/joint pain....difficult to get in and out of tub. The past 2 weeks I have experienced cold hands and feet, trouble sleeping, bad dreams and now anxiety. I will stop taking this medication.

I have been taking the 24 hour allergy pill, no decongestant. It works very well in controlling the sinus stuffiness and I sleep like a baby but I noticed I was having joint pains, specifically in my left knee. It took me several times on and off to realize that it occurs after taking for a few days. when I go off, it clears up slowly. I never had this problem before and am convinced it is a side effect of this drug. Would like to know if others have experienced this.

Started taking this drug because of constant stuffy nose. It helped that somewhat but after taking it for about a month I started waking up with terrible backache every morning. The claritin has to be causing it because I have started and stopped the drug several times and the backache always comes back when I take it. Several people have told me they experienced same thing but I haven't seen it mentioned on here.

Claritin, or Wal-itin (Walgreens Generic) has been very helpful for my chronic idiopathic urticaria. I can take one 10mg pill per day and it completely handles my urticaria. I've been on it since 2001 (even before it went OTC). No side effects noticed with Claritin, anything is better than taking Benadryl multiple times a day like I used to and have to walk around like a zombie. However, every two years or so, it seems like the Claritin loses it's effectiveness. It just seems to stop working, although, all other substitutes Zyrtec, etc. don't work either. My allergist believes that it my immune system "freaking out" because of a possible infection or virus that it fought off (I may have not even had symptoms from said virus or infection). When the Claritin loses it's effectiveness, the only thing that works is a long-term (2-3 months) prednisone regimen (20-40mg/day) that I take until I try to reduce and see if Claritin's effectiveness has returned.Read More Read Less

I have asthma and it is bad when I get a cold or the flu! I need something that will work fast for me to unclog my nose. I have had very good results talking one 10mg Claritin non drowsy pill every 24 hours. By the next day I am feeling better. I have had no bad effects from taking this drug and only use it until my nose in unclogged at the most a week to two weeks if its flu symptoms. With Asthma I cant wait as once both sides of my nose clog I end up in a emergency room. Claritin has worked for me with no bad effects.Read More Read Less
