The painful sinus headaches vanished. My sleep pattern was greatly improved (haven't slept well for years) and I was able to get 7 to 8 hours of solid sleep after several months of on and off taking it. MY COMPLAINT: After $1200 of doctor bills and tests I discovered my extreme knee pain was from taking this. My knees burned under the knee cap and felt very swollen inside, very painful just to wal...

I had used it for awhile because i had a stuffy nose and it made my heart beat really fast and take my iron down waaaay low. I felt like i was having a heart attack from my heart being so fast. It took care of my stuffy nose but not a good price.

Claritin worked for what I was using it for, but I began to notice acne breaking out all around my mouth. So I used proactive regularily (which is what I usually do if I suffer a break out), but this time, unlike EVERY other time, it didn't clear up the acne. So now I've stopped taking the Claritin. So far--it seems to be helping. I'm surprised and dissapointed that this appears to be a side-effect.

I was taking Zyrtec when my doctor became concerned about my blood pressure, and switched me to Claritin. I have been taking it for about eight months, and have noticed an increased inability to think clearly. I've attributed it to stress, moving, age. But after reading the reviews, I'm pretty sure this daily dose is doing me in. I've experienced insomnia, anger, crying jags, mood swings, lack of energy, and the very worst side-effect, extreme mental fogginess. This drug is anything but benign. The allergies were definitely relieved, but at what cost? Stay away from this one!Read More Read Less

I have taken this every day for two weeks. I woke up in the middle of the night for the first week of taking this. But now I'm sleeping throught the night. It seems to have helped me. A rare sneeze and very little conjestion in the morning. I don't feel very drowsy with this medication. I think the chronic sinus infection I've always had is gone! I feel a lot better overall and have more physical energy for work and play, plus I feel happier and not sick all of the time. I tried Zyrtec for a month, but that didn't work out. I hope Claritin works for me for at long time.Read More Read Less

The problem I have is that I had to quit taking it for allergy testing, and I have been miserable! The first two days I had the worst headache I've ever had and I've been constantly itching all over for almost two weeks now. I read other reviews online where people had similar results when going off Claritin. I'm scared to ever take it again because of the withdrawal. While I was taking it, it worked at relieving most of my symptoms.

I have bad allergies for years. This year they are worse then ever. Been very sick on and off since September 2011. I was taking Zyrtec for 6 years but it doesn't seem to be working as well as it use to. I decided to take Clartin 24 hour non drowsy not even the Clartin D. It's horrible. Although my symptoms are better. It makes me moody, foggy, tired but shaky at the same time. I feel like I had 6 cups of coffee but want to lay down. I can't function at work and just feel out of sorts. Yikes! This stuff is not good for me.Read More Read Less

Taken off and on for allergic rhinitis with minimal effectiveness. However, lately I developed severe dizziness after taking it. My daughter also developed full body hives and a feeling of chest tightness which has not resolved after 24 hours. These are listed as possible severe side effects.

Claritin is a very good med. I do think tat most of the people reviewing it are talking about claitin D which could cause jitteryness because decongestants can do that

Worked well for runny nose, itchy eyes. However I experienced the same problem as w/ Benedryl. I got agitated and depressed almost suicidal. So there must be something in both these meds that is bad for me.

The ENT was attempting to find cause for a very runny nose in the morning. Amongst other drugs he had me try Claritin which helped somewhat. Returned to the doctor's office for a refill & was inadvertently given Claritin-D. After that could not urinate. Visited my urologist who asked me if was taking any new medication and I told him yes, Claritin-D. He said that's it. Stop right now. The ability to urinate returned quickly. Evidently I had an adverse reaction to pseudoephedrine and now avoid it!Read More Read Less

First of all, I think most of the comments on here are referring to CLARITIN "D" NOT regular 24 hr Claritin. If you look up "Claritin D" on here you will see the side effects. I have taken the regular Claritin with no problem for over a year now.

While this medicine does clear up allergy symptoms. It isn't worth it! While I was taking it, I had terrible side effects: sleeplessness at night, falling asleep in the day, mental fogginess, chronic fatigue, memory loss, anxiousness, irritability, nighttime leg cramps, to name a few. I took it for six months straight. I saw five different doctors about my symptoms and not one of them had knowledge that these were potential side effects from this medicine. Instead they all kept sending me for more tests, sleep studies, etc. One even told me that I could have "depression". Then I put it together that my symptoms came about at the same time I started taking the medication. I immediately stopped the meds and my symptoms disappeared. I caution parents who give this medication to their kids (6 and older) because they are not always able to articulate what is going on with their bodies. Even I as an adult did articulate it, but not one doctor figured out that it was from the drug. I saw a PCP, OB/GYN, Endocrinologist, Neurologist, and Sleep specialist. So much for looking at the obvious first (drug side effects) and then going to more significant diagnoses. I plan to write a letter to each of these doctors and I am going to continue with acupuncture and ask that the provider work on my allergies/sinuses. Read More Read Less

At change of seasons I take Loratidine (generic Claritin) and it gives me a lot of relief. From stuffy nose, sneezing and itchy eyes. This season for some reason after being on it more than a few days, it gave me horrible watery diarrhea. I stopped taking it and the diarrhea resolved. Haven't confirmed whether or not it will occur with the brand name versus generic.

I take one generic Claritin each day and it usually takes care of my runny nose and sneezing. Occasionally I still have flare ups in which case I take a second Claritin. The Claritin is effective for a cold also to reduce the runny nose. I have taken it every day for 5 years with no side effects. Before that I tried prescription Astelin which was messy to take, less effective and very expensive.
