The painful sinus headaches vanished. My sleep pattern was greatly improved (haven't slept well for years) and I was able to get 7 to 8 hours of solid sleep after several months of on and off taking it. MY COMPLAINT: After $1200 of doctor bills and tests I discovered my extreme knee pain was from taking this. My knees burned under the knee cap and felt very swollen inside, very painful just to wal...

I could have gotten better results eating vegetables than this drugs which didn't even slow my runny nose from allergies after a week. No refund from Claritin was forthcoming from contacting them.

No problems related to taking Claritin daily for > 3 years. Allergies were related to dog; dog passed away. Doctor said I could stop taking Claritin. WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOM: excruciating headaches for 5 days, then I developed Bell's Palsy. Anyone else out there have this issue?

I've noticed while taking this drug I have nightmares. I'm not sure the benefit of the drug is worth the waking up in the middle of the night wondering what the heck I was dreaming about.

I HAVE CHRONIC HIVES OF UNKNOWN CAUSE. SOMETIMES SWELLING OF LIPS AND EYELIDS. CLARITIN CAUSED ANOTHER STRANGE EPISODE OF LARGE SWELLINGS ANYWHERE ON MY FACE, LIKE MY CHIN WOULD SUDDENLY SWELL UP OR A SPOT ON MY CHEEK WOULD SUDDENLY SWELL UP IN LITTLE LUMPS DIFFERENT FROM THE SWELLING I USUALLY GET FROM THE HIVES. WHEN I STOPPED THE CLARITIN, THOSE ODD SWELLINGS STOPPED. I STILL HAVE THE CHRONIC HIVES, GOING ON 14 YEARS NOW, BUT THE CLARITIN SYMPTOMS ARE NOW GONE.

My doctor prescribed this to me because i am allergic to everything under the sun, but I've learned to live and control it. I decided to take his advice and see how it goes. It is effective at preventing allergies, but i will not be taking this daily. Every time i take 1 pill i notice severe mood swings and agitation side affects. I sigh every 5 mins which is severely uncommon and i get extremely angry and agitated. I will just be using this every time my symptoms are extremely severe. A doctor once said, "if all the drugs we thrown into the sea it would be bad for the fish, but beneficial for mankind." Read More Read Less

Claritin deals effectively with my allergies, but if I take it every day for a couple months and then stop, I get terrible two-day headache that doesn't respond to aspirin, tylenol or advil. Happened last year about this time and again this year.

After taking Claritin for a few weeks I developed a back pain. When I stop it goes away, so I know its a side effect. I saw one other post describing this.

Nasal allergies, eye--itching, sneezing, watery eyes and nose....swelling of conjunctiva and mucous membranes...this medication does not seem to be strong enough. Cannot take decongestants. Have had to change RX to Clarinex which works.

I'm someone who once suffered from horrendous allergies & hay fever, often losing my voice up to 5 or 6 times per year in addition to dealing with what I thought was a "cold" every 2 or 3 months...misery at its finest. In Feb 2011, I decided to try generic Claritin & I will tell you that this little pill became a miracle. I not only DIDN'T suffer from allergies at all that year, but those so-called "colds" never reared their ugly heads even once. To my amazement, this trend continued throughout 2012 as I continued to take this inexpensive gem. HOWEVER...in early 2012, I started noticing little things. Feeling a little "off" at work, becoming a little more irritable than usual at home while doing chores (if I even got up to do them at all!), a racing heartbeat at night as I was drifting off to sleep...I just chocked these things up to "stress" & decided to take steps to manage my stress better & continued about my daily life. Coincidentally, this month (Jan 2013), I decided that I was going to do a "cleanse" (new year's resolution), & that also included giving myself a little "break" from the Claritin...after all, I'm safe from springtime pollen right now. Well, I've now started noticing some new "things"...less irritability, more gumption to do things &, wait, where did my nightly racing heartbeat go? I gave it some time but ultimately decided to look up side effects for Claritin, & was amazed to find that some of the things I had started experiencing after a year of taking it was also affecting others! I had been so pleased by the relief from allergies that I never bothered looking at what else this little pill could do. So, while this medication may also help you, please be careful & not only read all information about it, but also pay close attention to yourself! I will not be going back on Claritin & will seek another allergy relief to start taking before spring gets here.Read More Read Less

Tried this several times for seasonal allergy - runny nose, itchy eyes and sneezing. It brought some relief on the first day, but by the third day, it had no noticeable effect at all. When I stopped taking it, I got a horrible withdrawal headache that lasted the whole day and was not relieved by aspirin. This happened consistently. A clear-cut case of the cure being worse than the disease.
