have suffered chronic diarrhea for 22yrs! Daily doses of immodium have increased these last few months; from 1-2 pills each morning to now 6 or more per day! While specific foods typically compound my issue, high fiber is typically the devil; as of late it just doesnt seem to matter what I do or don't eat. Awoken in the middle of the night with double over abdominal pain an severe explosive diarrh...

Although, this medication worked. I experienced extreme blurred vision, slurred speech, and cloudy thinking. Before I reduced my dose to 10mg, I had trouble even forming a sentence in my head! There was no way I could take this medication during the day as I wouldn't be able to function normally to work or drive anywhere. I almost felt drunk. However, I continued to use it before dinner because it was very effective! I discontinued the drug after switching to medications. I guess I was one of the many that experienced the rare side effects! :( Read More Read Less

I have been taking this for 23 years to control my IBS. I only take it when I have flare ups (usually stress related). The spasms usually subside within 20 minutes.

I'm a mother of a 6 year old little girl. she started getting sick on a friday night(runny nose, sever ear infection, vomiting, uncontrolabl runny bowel movements, and a fever from 101.9- 103.4). First thing Monday Morning I took my daughter to her PCP who prescribed her Dicyclomine 10MG 1teaspoon 4 times a day along with 9 other prescriptions(rediculous for a 6 yr old). Dicyclomine hasn't really helped much. Time, rest and a mothers love&care has helped more then Dicyclomine.

My Dr started me on 20mg of Dicyclomine three times a day a few months ago. I had so many side effects (dizziness, nausea, lightheadedness, confusion, tingling, and unsteadiness) that my doctor now has me cutting the pill in half and only taking it when my stomach begins to get upset. I am still having side effects even though I only take it when I absolutely have to do so. It does help my stomach but it makes me fell...drunk. I also helped my over active bladder (there were days I would need to urinate every hour!) I hate how it makes me feel but can not stand running to the bathroom at times or not being able to use the rest room for days...are there any other drugs that people have found helpful with less side effects?? Please let me know.Read More Read Less

The GI doc put me on a 10mg dose twice a day the first month. It helped about 75% of the time. So, he doubled the dosage for the second month and I am having less and less bad days.

My doc started me out on 10mg twice a day. It helped, but not all the time. He's upped the dosage to 20mg twice a day and it's helping even more. I'm still having symptoms, but more so when I'm really nervous about something.

I have celiac and ibs. Even though I continue to eat only gluten free I still have a lot of stomach problems. The medication has helped so much. However I am a little concerned about the side effects... I feel funny right after I take it and had to cut down to once a day. When I have a glass of wine it feels like I have had 3.

My symptoms for IBS were constant diarrhea accompanied by gas. I often had diarrhea within a couple of hours of eating a meal and sometimes had it 4-6 times per day. I often didn’t have time to make it to the toilet! I had gurgling in my bowels while I was having a bowel movement. Furthermore, fresh vegetables passed right through me. My doctor prescribed Bentyl 3 months ago. I took this med 3 times per day when I started. This caused constipation and pain in my lower abdomen. I cut my dose to twice per day and my bowels became relatively normal, but my stool was hard. My doctor added Metamucil to my regimen to regulate my bowels and soften my stool. The fiber in Metamucil has made my stool normal and has not caused diarrhea. I’m now taking one Bentyl per day and using Metamucil once per day. My IBS is under control and I have one or two normal bowel movements a day.Read More Read Less

I was given dicyclomine after antibiotics caused C. difficile. It's no miracle drug. It takes the edge off the cramping, but doesn't take away the pain completely. I'm actually pretty disappointed.

This medication has helped a lot with my stomach pain and cramping. I have also noticed that it has helped restore function to my bowel. I went from being constipated and having bowel movements every 2 - 3 days to having bowel movements every day, 1 to 2 times a day. I had increased my fiber intake to try to restore function to my bowel before, but to no avail. I also drink more than 8 glasses of water a day, and I go to the gym 5-6 days a week. I take the medication 3 times a day, and I have noticed that if I forget to take my doses (the stomach pain and cramping has been greatly reduced since starting this med), I become slightly constipated (only for a day, day and a half). Overall, this med has helped me a lot.Read More Read Less
