I was stopped up, so my plan was to drink it in the morning and go straight to the office and get er done on the company roll of toilet paper. Three miles to go, though and it was already churning up powerful peristalsis. By the time I burst through the office door the pressure at my rear sphincter had built up to about 40 PSI at least. Bee line to the restroom, fired off the charge into the bo...

I took a half-bottle of this to prep for a colonoscopy (following prep instructions) despite a suggestion on Harvard website that it wasn't necessary when prep included drinking 4 liters of Golitely. I drank the citrate but couldn't get past half a bottle. Now I regret it. After 17 days I still have diarrhea and abdominal gurgling.ALL of the sites I've checked point to the magnesium citrate as the culprit.

I had to drink 2 bottles of this for a colonoscopy, it did a number on me, 3 weeks later I still have diarrhrea. I dont know how to get it out of my system, the doctors are doing nothing about it. Could it be an overdose of it how do I get my system back to normal?

If you need to poop really unbearably bad this stuff is what you need. I had knee surgery and because of that I had to take painkillers that made me super constipated. My dad ran over to CVS and got me some in a 10 oz bottle in the lemon flavor. It tasted horrible and I gagged a few times. It wasnt effective for me until much longer than most people on here have described. But when it worked it WORKED. I did not know that my butthole was capable of that. I was honestly afraid that I might accidentally poop out an organ. Luckily that did not happen. I had diarrhea come out so hard and fast that it was like i just turned on the water pressure of my bathtub. It was as if a waterfall came out off my butt. Also I smelled so bad and strange from all that pooping that I could taste the poop in my mouth. But hey if you need to poop really badly and nothing else works drink this and it is VERY effective. By the way, I do not recommend going anywhere for at least two days after drinking in case you soil your pants which happened to me twice. Good luck pal. Read More Read Less

Works almost as fast as a suppository. Extremely effective but onset of evacuation can be sudden. Capable of propelling expelled stools to a peak thrust of 120 pounds with a muzzle velocity of 260 feet per second, so hang on.

I do these about once every 6 months or so just to clean everything out. It's also a good jump start to a healthy life style. Getting rid of all those toxins in your body.

I have used this several times over my life for constipation. It works best if you drink 1/2 the bottle, at least 8oz water or clear liquids, the remaining bottle, and 8oz more clear liquids. It taste horrible. The flavored are more bearable. I would strongly recommend chilled. About 30-60mins later be near a bathroom as results will start to perform. If nothing within about 4 hours it is best to contact your Dr. After about 4 hours the bathroom process will slow drastically to almost stop. The more liquid you drink, the more results. It is very important to drink plenty of fluids. Dehydration is very easy since this draws the liquid in you body to your colon. I always recommend MC because it provides quick relief of constipation and produces fast results. Read More Read Less

The liquid form is difficult for me due to the taste, but I have a very hard time with ALL liquid medications. The daily supplements are easier for me, but it's just another 2 pills to add to my handful a day that I already take. So as long as I don't forget my daily pills generally don't need the liquid.

I have been experiencing lower abdominal pain, and was ordered to drink two bottles the day before a colonoscopy, in order to clear my bowels. Sure, it tastes bad, but whatever. It started working pretty quickly, and during the course of an afternoon at home, my bowels were indeed empty. However, the magnesium citrate wasn't done. Perhaps my (still undiagnosed) condition had something to do with it, but my intestines continued to try to expel waste long after I was empty. The result was terrible, uncontrolled cramping that wouldn't stop. Finally, I ended up in the emergency room, but there was nothing that could be done except to wait. A sedative helped me get through the worst, and afterwards my intestinal tract and bowel muscles are aching bad, sore from the stress of extreme cramping. Imagine a 'charley horse' in your bowels, and that's kind of what it's been like. I would guess my experience isn't typical, but if you are prone to cramping, please be wary and careful with this stuff. I wouldn't wish my experience on anyone.Read More Read Less

I am using this as a daily supplement, taking one TBsp a day keeps my bowels functioning normally. When not taking it daily I suffer frequent constipation and irritable bowels. Am I harming myself by using this as a daily supplement?

I frequently have problems with not being able to go to the bathroom. I drank one bottle to clean me out and start a new eating regiment because of frequent constipation. I drank the bottle at 9:30pm on a empty stomach. The taste is sour but not as bad as you think. I started getting nervous because I had not gone after a few hours. By 3:00am it started it's now 10:30am and I'm still going. I did have nausea and a headache the first two hours after drinking it. But, the more water I drank the better I felt. I must say I feel so much better like I've shrunk 3 pant sizes. No more pain or bloating. Drink a lot of water. Take this earlier during the day to help your chances of getting some sleep. Don't plan on leaving the house for at least 24 hours.Read More Read Less

I've never had problems with constipation until just recently. After realizing I was constipated, I took senna pills as recommended by the pharmacist. Senna pills didn't work. I couldn't believe it. I still couldn't go and at this point I was in pain. I went back to the pharmacy and they recommended magnesium citrate. I drank the entire bottle. An hour later, the magnesium citrate started to work. I had my first somewhat solid bowel movement. 15 minutes later, I had to go again. This time, it was entirely liquid. For the last 5 hours, I have had the worst diarrhea I have ever had. I called the pharmacist and apparently this is normal. I'm still having diarrhea and according to the pharmacist, it might last until tomorrow. I feel so much better now that I'm not constipated anymore, but I am so sore from all the wiping. Hopefully I won't be up all night on the toilet.Read More Read Less

I bought the powdered form of magnesium citrate to help me relax at night and to strengthen my heart. For the first few months, I took only a partial dose every few days. But when I recently took the recommended dosage (2 tsp),I instantly became ill: my face became burning hot and my heartbeat became eratic along with chest pressure, plus cloudy vision, dizziness, and tingling of my left leg and foot. Never have I been more ill...however, after lying down and drinking a lot of water, all symptoms eventually subsided. Never again will I take this product in any form. I am a retired nurse and had no idea that magnesium citrate could actually cause permanent damage to internal organs and even death. In my opinion, citrate products should include these potential dangers on their labels. Read More Read Less

Taking pain meds for RA and experiencing constipation. Decided to try magnesium citrate that I happened to see at dollar store. Took half the bottle with water, which was very unpleasant to the taste buds. I only had two small bms the first day but 24 hours later I have had lots. I feel really cleaned out and much better. I had no cramps and other that the taste, am very happy with the results.

After a week of being stopped up, I decided to go to the pharmacy. I've never taken a laxative before, so I wasn't sure what to take. The pharmacist told me to try magnesium citrate, but warned me to be close to the bathroom 15 minutes after taking it. I got home and drank the bottle. After just an hour, I had my first somewhat solid poop. This was just the beginning. It felt like the flood gates opened up inside me. I was going every 20 minutes for a few hours. I couldn't believe how bad the diarrhea was. I woke up today and had to go two more times. I think it's finally over. My bowels ache and my butt is raw from all the wiping. I feel emptied out and I am definitely not constipated anymore.Read More Read Less
