I took Augmentin duo Amxycillin & Clay AC 875mg/125mg tab for only 3 days for mild chest infection but after 1 day I felt terrible anxiety and tummy ache worst thing is I lost sense of smell ever since. Ent doctor told me nothing wrong with my nose, I never had sinusitis whatsoever in my life. I still kept this packet dated June 9 2013 we'll over 1 year. I pray for my sense of smell return one day so I can smell roses flowers again specially beautiful smell of my granddaughter I miss that most. This is worst experience I never had any problem with other antibiotics why this time with Augmentin?Read More Read Less

I, too, wish I read some reviews of this antibiotic before taking it for a SEVERE bacterial sinus infection. After only three doses (500mg twice a day) I began having NASTY stomach pains, disgustingly smelly gas, nausea and very loose stools. By the fourth day, my sinus infection was getting better but I then began experiencing extreme anxiety - something I have never had while taking any other antibiotic. I called my ENT this morning and told him that I was stopping the Augmentin immediately. He's going to switch me to Ceftin - my usual "go to" antibiotic for sinus infections. I only hope my stomach problems resolve themsleves soon because this is TORTURE. Based on this experience, I'll NEVER take Augmentin again. BTW, I've taken plain Amoxicillan in the past with no problems but the added ingredient in Augmentin is simply NOT for me. Read More Read Less

While it took car of the strep throat, I had terrible burning in my stomach. Also had horribly itchy rash on feet!

Left shoulder and left knee became so stiff and swollen I could not walk and had LOTS of pain! Stopped the drug; now 2 weeks later and knee still is stiff and will not work! How long before drug side effects go away ?

First off, I wish I had read the reviews prior to taking this drug. My Dr put me on this because I have nasal polyps and a deviated septum which he thinks is causing me to have a chronic sinus infection. Because of the severity of my sinusitis he wanted me on this for 2 weeks to start, up to 4 total. I am on day 5 of this and the first couple of days were OK. Skip ahead and I am now spending my days alternating between throwing up, diarrhea, heart palpitations and depressed/angry. I could not tolerate the symptoms - nausea, fatigue - horrible. My symptoms did improve but if I have this problem again, I will request a different medication. I did not complete the prescription.

I was prescribed this medication after a cat bite. After reading a lot of reviews online I was concerned about the side effects. I took 2 per day for 10 days as directed and it cleared up any infection, I had no noticeable side effects. The only complaint is the size of the pills. I cant swallow anything that large so I just chewed them up.

This stuff should be banned. I got almost every side effect , atleast it seems, rash, fever,diarrhea, tired,skin tingling, restless, and they continued even after stopping medications 6 days before I should have.

It works AMAZING it cured my Pneumonia , and that's that i had a very bad illness i thought nothing was going to cure it but i guess did!!!!

I have had chronic right ear infections since i was aprox 7yrs old, not much to really cure it, meds, lots of tubes over the years minimal relief for all the meds and time spent on ears only to feel like a snotty nose in there all the time! haven't had to take augmentin in a very long time these pills are huge they do make you sick to your stomach,so tired, headache,mild diahrea, yeast infection, not sleeping well and the muscle aching OMG!!!!! wake up at night both legs lower calves are just killing me this has been on going for about 5 days the pain wakes up at night,i am so tired when i wake up, now it has moved also up into my the back muscle of my thigh, I AM DONE with this stuff, feel worse than when i started taking this drug.would rather have a snotty nose in my middle ear than all the crap it puts you through and to have all these symptoms for weeks or even months. It worked 4 me,where two other drugs did not even do any good at all,and one was the z-pak.

Just took first one and am worried about side effects as I have colitis :(

I am on day 3 of this medication. I feel worse and cough is deeper before I started. I was told to "eat" before taking this and not my normal "crackers". I have been following instructions. NO food stays in me due to food going right through me as soon as I eat it. I only got 1/2 hour sleep during night. Anxiety is a problem. I will ask doctor, if ever prescribed again, to change medications.

About twice a year I get bronchitis/pneumonia and/or a sinus infection. Completely taken care of with this drug. The trick for me is to: 1. always make sure to take it on a FULL stomach (not with a snack - FULL) and 2. Take a pro biotic (at least 2 hours before or after a dose)

I had a severe sinus infection that was causing me to cough and produce tons of mucous. I wasn't sleeping at night, I strained my shoulder muscles from coughing, and after 5 days of taking this drug twice a day, I have not improved at all. I'm exhausted and I'm so angry that the Walgreens drug pusher clinic prescribed this junk of an antibiotic.

medication cleared infection, but taking it resulted in medically induced hepatitis, which took much testing including a liver biopsy to discover

Ended up being allergic to meds - broke out in bright red welts

My husband was prescribed this drug for upper resp. congestion and cough. day 5 stopped due to severe headache. in 2 weeks loss 25 lbs. had chemical induced hepatitis which the doctor said was caused by this drug.

I religiously took the prescribed Augmentin for seven days. At the end seven days my health was not improved in the slightest. I am very disappointed in the effectiveness of this medication. I will ask for something else if I am ever prescribed this medication in the future.
