This is the best antibiotic out there for me. It clears my ear congestion up and sinus problems from my allergies better than anything else. I wish more doctors would prescribe this instead of pushing zpack. My internist wants to always prescribe regular amoxicillan and it just doesn't work for me.

First off, I wish I had read the reviews prior to taking this drug. My Dr put me on this because I have nasal polyps and a deviated septum which he thinks is causing me to have a chronic sinus infection. Because of the severity of my sinusitis he wanted me on this for 2 weeks to start, up to 4 total. I am on day 5 of this and the first couple of days were OK. Skip ahead and I am now spending m...

On day of 5 of taking Augmentin 875 I could barely catch my breath and thought I was developing asthma. Turns out this is a side effect of the drug. Also, I am not any better.

I was put on the 875/125 dose for a real bad sinus infection and severe ear infection. 30 minutes after taking the firsts dose I felt very dizzy, instant nausea, and diarrhea. While I had the constant diarrhea and I also hot flashes. Within minutes after the hot flashes I fainted. I did not have anyone around to help so when I finally came to; one of my friends was calling she had to call my son to came on to check on me. Still have diarrhea after I refuse to finish dosage. This drug is not for everyone. I will not take this drug again!Read More Read Less

78 yr widow with life long Sinus infections. I did not hold out much hope for success this time because of the severity of the infection and past experiences with other anti-biotics. Shocked that after-3- 875 mg tablets (2 every 12 hours) I could see a marked improvement. Duration of treatment 7 days. Infection is completely gone. With past antibiotics I have experienced many of the side effects noted for Augmentin (I was given the generic (amoxicillin/clavulanate-875mg). I did not have **ANY** of the possible side effects. One past infection I was given Levaquin and was rushed to the emergency room after the 2nd tablet in a very serious condition. It is comforting to know something really did work this time, quickly and completely. May you all find your "Anti-biotic Rainbow". Read More Read Less

I had symptoms of a bad cough. My doc said it was a sinus infection-and the drainage causing a cough. Man I have NEVER coughed this bad! I have been taking Augmentin for 5 days now ( 1 every 12 hours 875-125) I am not sure whats going on now. I feel as though I am coughing a lot more. I am not as tired or sickly feeling though. I think maybe the augmentin is clearing up the infection-causing me to cough it up. (Ew). I have had no side effects, no nausea, no diahrrea. The pill is huge though!

Took one dose and had instant nausea and violent vomiting, hot flashes with itching everywhere, thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest, every heartbeat pounded in my ears, then diarrhea. My reaction lasted all night going from one stage to another. NEVER take or give to anyone you love!

Tonsilitis and sinus infection cleared up within a few days. Starting on day 3 or 4, though, I began to feel anxious and depressed. I just took my last dose on day 10 and I have all the symptoms of major depression. No external cause. Life is great, just feel numb, exhausted, and depressed.

I became so ill after taking this medication that I had to visit the emergency room where they said I was very dehydrated. I had bloody vomiting and diarrhea along with severe stomach pains from taking this medication. Terrible experience. It took many months to restore the bacteria levels in my stomach.

I was put on the 875/125 dose for a real bad sinus infection. I had no real bad side affects to the medication other then dry mouth, and one day I did not eat enough so I started getting bad stomach pains. The only way to avoid any pains would be to over stuff yourself with food then take it. I honestly wish there was something stronger because my sinus infection was so bad that only by day 6 of 7 being on the medicine did I start feeling better. I was in some serious pain but was told this was the strongest dose I could take.Read More Read Less

Augmentin is highly effective but very harsh on the stomach and intestines. It can cause severe diarrhea so be prepared and eat a lot of yogurt and supplement with acidophilus.

I usually don't write reviews, only read them and freak myself out, lol.. But after taking this med for 1.5 days, I felt fine until this morning when I was about to go to work and got watery diarrhea and slight stomach cramps (exactly 12 hours after taking medicine).I didn't think I would have a reaction because if I usually have a reaction to a medication it's pretty fast, but I did notice that some other reviewers had delayed reactions. It sucks because I do feel better but have called my regular doctor (didn't see when i went in for the doc visit) for a different med. I don't think I could handle this for another 8 days. I guess I should have really paid attention to the reviews and asked for something else. Like others I have felt a little light headed and dizzy, but I think this is due to my sinus infection, being really stuffy, and laying down. Also, I did take this with food, as the pharmacist recommended it (perhaps this means that upset stomach is a known reaction). Read More Read Less

WARNING DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANTCES. I wouldn't give this drug to the DEVIL. There should be a ban on drugs like this. Alergic reaction BIG TIME, yeast infection from the top of my head down to my toes, also vaginal. Bowel dropped, diareha, very black. Still itching after 7 months. Do yourself a favor, if you need an antibotic ask for cephalexin, generic bacterical antibotic and it works, for $8.00, no side affects from it. I have been to numerous doctors, don't know what to do for me. Yes, I am hypper sensative to meds. Since a major reaction to Wellbutrin, that's a different night mare in itself. FDA are you listening? Is anyone listening? Read More Read Less

I had vomiting so much I was dehydrated and had to be put on IV. I will never take this medication again for a sinus infection. I could barely function for a whole week. The doctor replaced this medicine with Leviquin, but the symptoms continued due to having my stomach so much of a mess by the time she switch it. I was told to take with food, which I did and which made for worse vomiting.

I was prescribed this medication for a throat infection. After the third dose I felt like I had had 10 gallons of coffee. My heart started beating out of my chest and hurt and I was unable to sleep. Had to switch to a different antibiotic. Will not take this again.
