This is the best antibiotic out there for me. It clears my ear congestion up and sinus problems from my allergies better than anything else. I wish more doctors would prescribe this instead of pushing zpack. My internist wants to always prescribe regular amoxicillan and it just doesn't work for me.

First off, I wish I had read the reviews prior to taking this drug. My Dr put me on this because I have nasal polyps and a deviated septum which he thinks is causing me to have a chronic sinus infection. Because of the severity of my sinusitis he wanted me on this for 2 weeks to start, up to 4 total. I am on day 5 of this and the first couple of days were OK. Skip ahead and I am now spending m...

STAY AWAY FROM AUGMENTIN!!! I spent 4 nights in the hospital for C Diff bloom caused by Augmentin. It upsets the balance of bacteria in your colon. I already have ulcerative colitis so not effective treatment for that either.

Second time I am taking this. Dr. order 875mg, but that is way too much, was advised to break in half, tak with food. I have been taking for 9 days now, not seeing any change. Am now supplementing with prednisone 10 mg 6X2days etc. Hopefully the combo will knock it out soon.

Do NOT take this if allergic to PENICILIN. Works good. I am starting to get stomachaches after using sometimes off/on over the years, even with meals. Be sure to also eat probiotics to replace losing the good bacteria.

I took my first dose at 7pm with food and by 12:45am I was throwing up violently. By 3am I was vomiting blood. Ended up in the ER. Bleeding was caused from a burst blood vessel in my throat. Scariest experience ever. The dr.'s dont believe that it is the ammoxicillin part of the drug that I am intollerant to but the other part that is "something"-clav? That part has an acid base to it and obviously did not agree with me. Started taking a z-pac today to kick the sinus infection and crossing my fingers that I dont react to this. I have never been this violently sick in my life and I will NEVER take this drug again!Read More Read Less

I have been struggling with recurring sinus infections for over 8 months (10 sinus infections). This, interfering with my school work, I was sent to a pediatric special infections doctor (after seeing many other doctors). I was on clindomyxon and it wasn't really helping. I was mildly allergic to this in the past (8 years ago) but was willing to try it out. I still believe I am mildly allergic because of some of the insane symptoms I've been having…loss of focus (can't pay attention), tiredness (also have insomnia), extreme nausea and fatigue, MAJOR MIGRAINES (worst pain in the entire world), extreme upset stomachs after taking medicine (I also have acid reflux and this gives me heartburn), and I have not gone #2 in 2 weeks. I am on this for the rest of the month and not looking forward to it. I would have stopped taking the medicine, but it is working better than any other medication, I have not been able to get over this one sinus infection for 3 months now. I do not love this medicine, nor do I hate it. I highly recommend it for anyone with sinusitis or any recurring bacterial infection, AFTER GETTING ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING ELSE YOU CAN DO PREVIOUSLY. If you are on many medications (I am on 9 daily), this might not make you feel well, I still recommend it, and please do not skip a dose, you will not feel to hot the next day. Also, the pills are huge, but you can easily break them in half.Read More Read Less

I have had chronic Parotid gland infections for the last 32 years. I have been on numerous antibiotics and no matter which one I'm on it's for a minimum of 6 weeks. I hadn't taken Augmentin in over 15 years and don't recall any side effects I did start the Augmentin 6 days ago and the only side effect I've had is extreme tiredness. Even taking on an empty stomach, I've had no stomach or bowel problems. The effectiveness is no different than any other antibiotic I've taken for it.

I was very leary to take this medicne as other people's veiw points are important to me. I decided after reading some of the postive feedback to try it, glad I did!! I think if you follow the instructions and eat a full meal and take the medicine right after you will be fine. One person from here had a great idea to eat half of your meal then take the medicine then finish your meal. I also drink a little milk to coat my stomach more. I take the suspension, I cannot swallow pills. The taste is not bad. Those of you with children may want to add the extra flavoring. It is a very thin medicine. I have been using it for 3 days now and have had no issues. I think a lot of the bad reviews about this medicine is maybe they had another type of illness like a stomach virus or they just did not eat enough with it. I think if they truely had an allergic reaction your doctor should have known this and it should not have been given to you. Read More Read Less

On Day three of taking this med, notice syptoms have diminished from a chronic sinus infections na bronchitis, but the diarhea is preety persistant, woke up last night with cold sweats, chills, body aching everywhere and extreme exhaustion! I went to bed at 9:00, got up at 8:00 AM, don't feel like I slept at all! Take the good with the bad I guess. I just want this infection gone! It's been about 12 weeks!

I was prescribed this drug after diagnosed with strep throat. Aboout 12 hours after the first dose I have had watery diarreha and this has continued into the 4th day. I am eating yogurt to ward off the yeast infection side effect every day. I still have the sore throat into the 4th day and am wondering if anyone else has had trouble sleeping? I haven't slept well in days. I am jittery at night and feel heart pounding. I have stopped any over the counter cold meds as I thought these were the reason for the jitterness. Well anyway that is one of my side effects.Read More Read Less

Not a bad drug. I was terrified to take it at first because I suffer from heart palps and bad anxiety. I have had no issues with this. Only on third day of 875 twice a day. Take it, it works fine. No side effects.

I am suffering from a severe, painful, sinus infection. I am on week two of a three week round. 875 mg. twice a day. I report no negative side effects. I also was on it last year. The key its to take plenty of probiotic. I eat two yogurts a day and take a probiotic pill. I am 39 and never had a yeast infection and don't plan to now! I eat my yogurt with my pill. If I don't drink enough, the antibiotic leaves an awful taste in mouth. Other than that, I highly recommend if you suffer from chronic, painful sinusitis.Read More Read Less

Love love love this drug. Z-pak or Amoxicillin can never even TOUCH my sinus infections. With Augmentin I do not experience any of the side effects and always feel better within a few days. Despite others bad experiences I would definately recommend this drug to sinus infection sufferers.

Will never take this again. Explosive, watery diarrhea. Stopped taking it and starting taking an OTC probiotic recommended by my doctor, and still, after 12 days, diarrhea. At least not as severe. Ear infection is worse. Going to an ENT today, after a month of pain and 12 days of misery from this drug, home to get the ear and the intestinal track back on target

I was given this drug following a cat bite and after day two suffered severe diahrea. I called and was told to cut the pill in half. I did but it still caused diahrea and noisy intestants. I stopped drug and won't take it again.
