This is the best antibiotic out there for me. It clears my ear congestion up and sinus problems from my allergies better than anything else. I wish more doctors would prescribe this instead of pushing zpack. My internist wants to always prescribe regular amoxicillan and it just doesn't work for me.

First off, I wish I had read the reviews prior to taking this drug. My Dr put me on this because I have nasal polyps and a deviated septum which he thinks is causing me to have a chronic sinus infection. Because of the severity of my sinusitis he wanted me on this for 2 weeks to start, up to 4 total. I am on day 5 of this and the first couple of days were OK. Skip ahead and I am now spending m...

I am on day six of the generic 875 2x daily. I honestly thought I was going crazy and it wasn't until I read other reviews on this site that I realized I was having a reaction. Started about day 4 with stomach pains and diarrhea. Day 5 the anxiety, hot flashes, sleepless night, skin flushing, exhaustion, chills and irregular heart beats started. Today is day 6 and I am done. Heading back to the doctor cannot take one pill. Hopefully they can find me something else. Still having sinus pressure/pain but I'll take that over a heart or panic attack.Read More Read Less

I was given the medicine because of chronic sinusitis (which really should be a listed reason). I was originally given Amoxicillin, which did not clear up my sinuses at all and then a different physician diagnosed the chronic sinusitis and prescribed the Augmentin. It also didn't work and I am now at an ENT getting cat scans and stuff. Sinuses suck, don't they?

Got meds, 875mg, twice/day. By Wed/Thurs early morn (2am) was in emergency room with elevated BP (281/147). My normal BP is 97/57. The pressure was unbelievable! No heart attack-like symptoms. After a few hours of observation went home & was fine from then on. Dr. said it was a reaction from medication.

Augmentin for me? NEVER AGAIN. Took one pill at 10:30 pm and by 12:30 am I was up vomiting. That went on every hour for the rest of the night. I have taken straight Amoxicillin in the past with no adverse effects, so it must have been the Clavulanic Acid in Augmentin.

I had a cocktail shot for my Acute Bacterial Infection of the Sinuses; and prescribe Name Brand--Augmentin 500-125mg 1 tablet Orally Twice a day. Along with other prescribed meds. If you take the Generic Brand of Argumentin, you will have and suffer mild to server side effects because of other inert inactive ingredients to compound them, colors, and added flavors. Generics do not have to prove it works. Approximately 80% of the medication is absorbed to targeted areas versus Brand Name 100% absorbed to the targeted area of the body. So do not buy Generics unless you do your research. You will find that it is the Generics that do not work better than the Brand. You see other pharmaceuticals manufactures from other countries like China, Mexico, Canada, and other overseas pharmaceuticals are not investigated as regious as those in America; even some America pharmaceuticals are not held at the same exact standard as Brand. Generic pharmaceuticals manufacturers are allowed to deviate from the original Brand by added other ingredients and changing some elements without even have to proof that Generics function 100% as generics.Read More Read Less

I took this medication and had difficulty because the pills were so large. Although effective, i did notice that my hair was falling out in great amounts. Once i finished the medication, it stopped.

It cured my infection, but I had severe, unbearable pain in both shoulders, collarbone, upper arms for two months. The doctor finally sent me to a Pain Clinic and a steroid shot in each shoulder relieved the pain. May have been an allergic reaction - inflammation of the blood vessels and muscle pain.

While it is tough to swallow at first, you get use to it. Be sure to take a probiotic while you are one it. And make sure you eat it with meals. A lot of the people on here with the negative reviews concerning their stomachs, I wonder if they are doing all they can to prevent it. Something like "Align" can help (there is a cheaper but just as effective brand-can't remember what though), and I always take a probiotic yogurt while taking the meds too. Hope this helps everyone with their problems!!Read More Read Less

I've had a sinus infection which then produced an ear infection. At first I was taking amoxicillin for the full 10 days as prescriped, but that didn't seem to get rid of the clogged feeling in my ear due to the sinus infection. I was given Augmentin to take for 10 days. I thought i've been on this before it should get rid of it. As the clogged feeling as subsided i'm only 3 1/2 days into taking the medicine and couldn't feel worse. It has cleared up some of the clogged feeling in my ears, but I can't seem to get my stomach to stop acting up! I would not recommend taking this medicine unless you have a stomach that can handle it. Anyone with IBS or any other gastrointestinal issues should avoid taking this medicine at all costs. Unless you want to feel like you are trapped in the bathroom all day. I'm considering stopping this medication because the gastrointestinal issues it creates is unbearable. Try other antibiotics first before having to result in using this one. Read More Read Less

I am on my 9th day with augmenten and I feel like the side effects if this drug are worse than the symptoms of sinus infection. I am having anxiety, hot flashes, nauseas , trouble sleeping. I will not be taking this again.
