This is the best antibiotic out there for me. It clears my ear congestion up and sinus problems from my allergies better than anything else. I wish more doctors would prescribe this instead of pushing zpack. My internist wants to always prescribe regular amoxicillan and it just doesn't work for me.

First off, I wish I had read the reviews prior to taking this drug. My Dr put me on this because I have nasal polyps and a deviated septum which he thinks is causing me to have a chronic sinus infection. Because of the severity of my sinusitis he wanted me on this for 2 weeks to start, up to 4 total. I am on day 5 of this and the first couple of days were OK. Skip ahead and I am now spending m...

This drug is very good for infections, at less for mine, I had an infection in my glands in my neck, they were very painful and swollen. I started the drug and yes, it did upset my stomach the first day, I didn't even have to eat first, but after the 4th day I got a bad yeast infection from this drug. I would never try this one again, NO, VERY BAD!

Upset stomach diarrea and nausea. Pharmacist advised me took take yogart for the side effects. Due this drug causing severe diarrea and nausea It kills the bactreia In the stomach that Is the way It Is disigned. The yogart help repacing with live cultures and helping with the nausea and diarrea. I also don't like the medication Is dosed. A better antibotic when It comes to dosing Is levaquin and does not have the severe side effects as the above antibotic.

Sore throat and coughing stopped within days, but I developed a serious yeast infection and rash that is still present. Tried OTC yeast meds, minimal relief. Also, I was a little dizzy during my 10 day usage, I didn't realize it until reading other posts. I thought I was dizzy because of poor air quality in Houston. I remember parking my truck and still feeling like I was moving.

Was diagnosed with cellulitis in my right thigh following a muscle pull. I take it right before eating a meal and so far no severe side effects. Some stomach pain the first two days but I've been eating yogurt w/active cultures and seems to help. The antibiotic just doesn't seem to work very quickly - doctor prescribed a 10 day course intitially but added another 7 days to make sure the infection is gone.

First of all I have to say: doctors should never prescribe antibiotics without advising patients to take acidophilous. Short term, yogurt helps, but much better are high quality caps, enough to provide 15 billion acidophilous organisms, taken about an hour after the antibiotic. This replaces gut bacteria killed by the drug, and helps prevent diarrhea, bloating, and yeast infections. My experience: I have long-term Lyme disease with periodic relapses. When this happens, I am treated with a combo of antibiotics, which are switched every few months. The most recent prescribed was amoxicillin, which I have taken before. Through a error in transcription I was given augmentin (amoxicillin with clavulanate potassium, a beta lactamase inhibitor). I responded unexpectedly well to this, so much so that my doctor is looking into using for other Lyme patients. Symptoms I have had for years are actually resolving on this drug combo. by previous experience of this drug I have realized that yogurt is the best to counteract most of the negative after effects of this drug. The probiotics in yogurt make stools thicker and less frequent, plus ward of yeast infections. Proceed with caution while taking drug, it is an effective anitbiotic, but it knocks you way down the first three days.

I will be on day 3 of the generic - Amox/K Clav 875-125 starting tomorrow. My GP said to consume yogurt while taking this medication. Needless to say, I'm not a yogurt fan, but I'm following her suggestion. She said that I could develop vaginal yeast infection if I didn't. I'm learning to like yogurt. SO FAR, I have not had any other issues (knock on wood). For the past 3 days, I had no if any voice at all, and today I finally had a voice. I also take this medication with a meal. I take one with breakfast, then then 2nd with supper. I'm feeling pretty good considering. Read More Read Less

For the first 5-6 days, everything was fine. I even took a dosage without any food and nothing...but then one night 3 hours after taking the pill, (with food), I had terrible stomach pains and trowing up. The next day nothing. The next day, again pains in stomach and thowing up. I have stopped taking this drug as the side effects have been too much for me. I also had diarria...but that was tolerable. I'd like to know why in the beginning all was fine and then days later started have severe throwing up...Read More Read Less
