This is the best antibiotic out there for me. It clears my ear congestion up and sinus problems from my allergies better than anything else. I wish more doctors would prescribe this instead of pushing zpack. My internist wants to always prescribe regular amoxicillan and it just doesn't work for me.

First off, I wish I had read the reviews prior to taking this drug. My Dr put me on this because I have nasal polyps and a deviated septum which he thinks is causing me to have a chronic sinus infection. Because of the severity of my sinusitis he wanted me on this for 2 weeks to start, up to 4 total. I am on day 5 of this and the first couple of days were OK. Skip ahead and I am now spending m...

82 year old female took three of the generic large pills. Almost went to the emergency room for side-effects of nausea, diarrhea, weakness, pains in upper thighs, calves, forearm, and lower back that prevented sleep. Also broke out in blisters. Also extensive diarrhea. Must now use walker and portable toilet. Stopped using these pills. Seeking a better treatment in NOLA.

This medication was prescribed to me for a case of mastitis after I weaned my daughter. I have found the side effects to be terrible, yet the doctor insists that this is the best course of action. I had been nauseous, have had diarrhea and have been very dizzy while on Augmentin.

The side effects were horrible. I had the worst stomach pain I have ever had when taking this. That along with the continuos vomiting made it unbearable. I had to switch to a new antibiotic.

I had stomach cramps, bloating and gas when I began taking this medication, which disappeared in a few days. This is the only anti boitic that works for me and does not cause other symptoms.

I took this medication after hospital admission, when I caught cystitis due to catheter. I developed diarrhoea and abdominal discomfort after 3 days. At the end of the course the doctor gave me an anti-fungal drug which helped to reduce the diarrhoea.

I was prescribed this drug as a post surgical antibioitic. I felt like crap the entire 10 days I took it. I had a sore throat, my lungs felt tight, just all around bad. Well within 2 days after I completed the prescription I felt much better. I attributed the sore throat to intubation during surgery. But once my head was clearer I was able to remember that this is the same reaction that I have to ceclor and omnicef (both of which are cephlasporins-which is part of augmentim) I will be discussing this with my surgeon the next time I see him.Read More Read Less

I first received this medication as an infant and would immediately vomit upon ingesting it. My mother discontinued the usage of this drug and thought I was allergic. Years later I was put on it again after being told it was just a sensitivity and again I could keep nothing down while taking the drug. After swallowing the pill I immediately felt sick and up it came along with everything else. I believe now I am either extremely sensitive to this medication or allergic.

I was put on 875 mg of the generic form of this drug. 1st week felt weak and tired, 2nd week, feeling much better. I am on 14 days of 875 2x a day. The side effect that has been bothersome for me is 4 days in I developed dumbness and flesh colored spots on my tongue, everything tastes different and my tongue hurts, like hairy tongue. This has stayed for duration of treatment. 1 more day left and hoping that it goes away. Noticiable slight headaches, no diareaha for me. Read More Read Less

I am on Augmentin XR twice daily for two weeks after being on Flagyl and Levequin to treat diver. about a month ago which was horrible for me to take. So this seems to be doing the trick however still have some slight pain in the lower left and some bloating after a week of being on it(from the diver). I am tolerating this drug very well with just a little transient diurrhea at first but fine after a day or two. Am having a few headaches as well but not bad.

First time I took this in Oct 2008 for a sinus infection, on the last day of taking the 10 day course of this drug, I broke out in full body hives. I itched everywhere. I also experience angioedemia on my hands and feet and it hurts. At the time I did not suspect the antibiotic and saw my allergist. I had to take 180 mg of Allegra every 12 hours just to be comfortable. Over the course of 7 months the hives still occured but would only happen every 5-7 days and not as bad. I recently had a sinus and ear infection following a cold in June 09 and was prescribed the Z pack which didn't work. I then went back on Augmentin. This time I had bloating and stomach issues. Then on the second to last day of the 10 day course I broke out in full body hives and my feet and hands swelled up again. Doctor now says it is the antibiotics that caused the problem the first time around. How long again is this going to take to go away!! Very uncomfortable, I'm back to popping Allegra every 12 hours at the least. I think this is a major side effect for some people, even if you consistantly put back probiotics into your body while taking this drug. Take something less strong if it works.Read More Read Less
