This is the best antibiotic out there for me. It clears my ear congestion up and sinus problems from my allergies better than anything else. I wish more doctors would prescribe this instead of pushing zpack. My internist wants to always prescribe regular amoxicillan and it just doesn't work for me.

First off, I wish I had read the reviews prior to taking this drug. My Dr put me on this because I have nasal polyps and a deviated septum which he thinks is causing me to have a chronic sinus infection. Because of the severity of my sinusitis he wanted me on this for 2 weeks to start, up to 4 total. I am on day 5 of this and the first couple of days were OK. Skip ahead and I am now spending m...

Over the past four yearsm and after an initial VERY BAD outbreak of cellulitis (entire lower leg blistered and skin sloughed off) I have had recurrent outbreaks. For these Augmentin has been prescribed and it works every time and quite quickly. No side effects except the usual tiredness I associate with ANY antibiotic prescription. I will continue to use this medication as long as it works.

Within 5 minutes of taking this medication my son turned cherry red, broke out in hives, started coughing so vigorously that he vomitted, shaking, itching... We ended up in the ER. He has never had a problem with amoxicillin but this totally was a severe allergic reaction.

In New Zealand Augmentin is prescribed for many infections as an anti-biotic. I don't know how effective it was for me in the past for my infection - it gave me thrush. I refuse to take it now and doctors won't prescribe it to me. It is a common side-effect in many women I know.

I'm still on the medication, and I'm not sure. Has there been a case where someone would break out into really bad red looking welts, almost borderline purplish, or even really deep crimson.

I'm on day 6ish. The med did seem to start clearing up the infection relatively quickly, though not entirely. Almost immediately a constant headache set in that I had to keep on top of with tylenol or I couldn't function. I never had a fever (sometimes I thought I did), but I did have occasional diarrhea (some pretty interesting abdominal noises), and this morning I found the upper arm/upper leg rash (which is why I started researching side effects). It's working, but I'd forgotten all the joys of antibiotics.Read More Read Less

I took this drug for a sinus infection. I would NEVER take it again. 1 month after taking it I'm still seeing the side-effects (diarrea). I took it with food and as like the other people that wrote comments wanted to stick it out to get rid of my infection. I should have changed drugs earlier. If your Dr. prescribes this, I would ask him to change.

This med was my 2nd antibiotic and it was working for I had been suffering for 3 weeks already but you need to eat alot of food with it and drink plenty of water. The diarrhea started on the 3rd day. I felt really tired and run down while on it. I probably should have gotten another med but I toughed it out I don't want to end up resistance to antibiotics. I will not take this med again that's for sure.

I had 2 very deep cat bite wounds on my hand, took this drug and got no better after 2 and a half days of 2 times a day dose. Had to go back to doctor, got a shot of another drug and was suggested to have surgery but chose not to. After the first 10 days, 2 times a day of Augment. I waited 5 days and the infection started to flair up again. Got another 14 days worth and am on my 7th day. It upsets my whole digestive system with some nausea and abdominal cramps. Not so much on the first 10 days, but quite a bit on this 2nd round. The hand is healing with a large bump the size of a pea at the deepest bite site. At its worst, the 2nd day, I had a fever, extremely swollen hand and redness going up towards my elbow. I have only taken antibiotics twice in 30 years.Read More Read Less

I was advised to give my 18 year old Dog this medicine, and I was also advised to give Gelusil and Sporilac along with it. I never realised that the loose motion that she ahs was on account of this and when I did tell her Doctoe after 4 days, he asked me stop it, but on the 6th day I lost my dog. I do think that this medicine is too strong.

Always ate half meal first and then took pill, then ate rest of food and had not one bit of stomach upset. My only problems were completely tired-worn out feeling, muscle soreness, confusion and headaches.

Within 5 hours after taking this with food I was vomitting. Then for 12 hours I couldn't even get water to stay down. Was not worth the time spent in bed.
