I did a lot of research online about Hyalgan & similar drugs, & decided on Hyalgan primarily due to the results expressed by women in my age group who received the most relief & suffered the fewest side effects (swelling, pain). In 3/2011 I started the 5 injection series for left knee pain from OA, after many rounds of steroid injections failed to provide long lasting results. It took a couple of...

I have severe bone on bone arthritis in my left knee and almost the same with my right knee but not as bad as the left. I therefor went ahead and did both knees when I heard about these injections. Its hard for me to read the satisfaction rate on here as I am in more severe pain now in both knees than I ever was before. I am in constant throbing pain and aches in both my knees and now throughout m...

After the third injection of hyalgan, I broke out in a rash and welts. The itching was horrible. Then my asthma became so bad my regular dr, had to hospitalize me and treat me with massive doses of steroids to control the asthma (had never had any severe asthma flare-up before.) I was on prednisone to control the itching for a few months but then it started affecting my vision and I had to go off steroids. The welts, rash and itching are still problematic, and now I have an allergic reaction to almost anything that comes into contact with my skin and am still under treatment wit an allergist. I so wish that I had never tried hyalganRead More Read Less

I could hardly walk any more before these injections. My knees hurt like toothaches. I got these 5 injections in both knees and the improvement was remarkable. My left knee is pain free and my right knee which is in worse shape is much better. Everyone who knows me has seen the improvement-I walk so much better than before. I went to a convention a few weeks ago and was on my feet most of the day. There is no way I could have done that before the injections.

After undergoing arthroscopy surgery to repair torn meniscus, pain in knee was worse than prior to surgery. Doctor attributed pain to progressive arthritis. Underwent 5 injection series in December 2010. Have only experienced slight improvement. Knee flexibility has improved slightly and pain has been slightly reduced. I still have a hard time climbing stairs and walking without a severe limp. In summary this treatment was not very effective in my case.

I was severely crippled. Could barely walk. Started the 5 series injection. 2 days after the 5th inj. I had relief. I kept having improvement. I am now totally pain free in my knee - it is a miracle for me. I had to have people get me out of my car when I arrived at work, could not bear weight & suffered so much. But it took all 5 injections until I got any relief.

Best thing ever. Went to a new doctor who insisted on Synvisc. Didn't hit a lick. Going back to my original Dr. (even though i will have to travel) who obviously knew this was the trick for me.

Injections are painful for a couple of days ice eases it up. Other than that my knee's feel much better. And I just had complete scope done a month ago before shots. I honestly wish I had opted to do shot first may have held off scope for a while

For me it's like getting new knees. Immediate pain relief. My knees bend again. I can now lay my leg flat in bed. Well worth the discomfort of the injection itself.

After too many costisone injections just to releif pain, I have been injected with Hyalgan in both me knees and shoulders. Great results that last about 6 months for all joints. NO inflamation or swelling. You need to find a doctor who knows how to inject it properly. Some of my joints have very little cartilage left. The results are amazing.

After a weekend of not being able to straighten my knee and walking all kind of weird ways, I got the first shot on Monday. I had no more pain, except for the soreness of walking weird. I highly recommend this treatment. I am trying to find out when they can start this on the hip.

I received three injections over the course of 6 weeks at the VA. Injections were painful for several days afterwards. After the third injection I began having having severe pain and swelling in the left knee joint. Gross swelling appeared above the knee to the size of a football from a possible leak in knee tissue/surrounding membrane. Subsequent MRI revealed a tear in the menismous in the left knee. I endured 2 very painful aspirations of the left knee procedures, with nearly 1 liter of fluid taken off the first time and nearly 2 liters of fluid removed the second treatment. I am now scheduled for a total knee replacement in May. Read More Read Less

Has gave some relief from a surgery. Injections painful and caused bruising. did cause a significant amount of stomach distress, burning about hour after injections, and mild upset during the five weekly injections. not so sure the painful shots were worth the minor improvement.

I had the series of 5 injections of this. I now have worse pain in my knees than ever before. Plus getting the injections hurt terribly. I wouldn't reccomend this.

I had a terrible reaction. The hyalgan rolled out of the joint. The shaft where it contects to the head of the bone is eaten away so there are chucks missing!!! I have to keep it wrapped just to bear weight with the use of a cane. I have stress fractures as well. Now I have to go to travel to get a knee replacement. A few months prior to the injection they did an MRI just about a year later the bone has jagged edges as though it was bitten out to tear threw the tissue. THIS IS THE WORST PRODUCE I HAVE EVER USED. I will be contacting the FDA. Read More Read Less

Today was my 4th injection of a series of 5. Anyone thinking about getting the injections, ice and relax afterward. My doctor said normal activity was fine but my knee swells up like a balloon for a couple hours after the shots. 36 hours later and I have more movement than I have in years. Worth it in the long run so far.
