I was on amoxil for a sinus infection when it came back I had nasty sore throats every night which were gone within 24 hours of beginning this medication. It does taste horrible but I found a suggestion on another site to coat the pill in honey which works great. I don't taste the bitterness at all. It is a little rough on my stomach if I take it with milk or yogurt it seems to stop me from having...
This medicaton in the form of a pill has the most horrible tasting coating on it that leaves a bitter taste long after and is very hard to swallow because of its size.

I had a very bad cough and my doctor prescribed me Ceftin. This drug is amazing and i felt better within a day. I neve felt nauseous and i never got sick once or had a bad reaction. Unfortunately i did hate the taste and had problems taking it with water, but taking it with milk is my reccomendation as it makes you feel better fter you take it.

I began taking this drug 4 days ago for fluid build up in middle ear. I have noticed no change at all. I am still dizzy, extremely, and need to get back to work. Has anyone taken this for the same type of problem? How long did yours last?

This is my second bronchial/pharyngial infection in two months. In addition to cefuroxime I received two penicillin shots. The antibiotic worked. It is a long course, I guess 15 to 20 days, so I anticipated, and had, diahrrea. Took probiotics and Imodium to control this to some extent. Yes, the pill tastes bad, duh! It is a strong antibiotic and it worked for me when I took it long enough to really wipe out this persistent infection. One thing to consider. Right at the end I had a surprise knee sprain. A nurse friend told me some antibiotics can increase the risk of joint and muscle sprains, etc. I didn't do anything unusual, like fall or over-do activity. It pays to be aware and cautious and to check back with your doc about these things. Also, I probably wasn't careful enough about having a substantial amount of food intake with the pills. That might have mitigated the number of stomach digestive bacteria the cefuroxime murdered! I'm glad to be finished with the meds but Oh-so-glad not to be sick!Read More Read Less

I took this medicine for sinus infection and it seemed to be helping, but on day 7 I started having the worst stomach cramps. I have stopped taking this medicine and can only hope the stomach cramps will go away. It also caused a yeast infection. I won't be taking this again.

I have severe COPD and congestive heart failure for 11 years now and now I have pneumonia for the third time. I refused to go to the hospital this time, so my pulmonary doctor ordered Ceptin for me. I don't mind the taste becsuse it is in tsblet form. I have severe pain in my back but now I can bend over and pick things up that have a rotten habit of falling on the floor. I guess it is working, but I have only been on Ceptin for one and a half days, so it is too early to tell if it is working.

After 4 days of taking this medication, my stomach was so upset that I had to stop taking it. In the beginning my appetite dwindled, and I thought that was a good thing, until the stomach upset started.

Very nasty tasting - I will try coating with honey. Checked other reviews - no one seemed to mention that they were extremely thirsty and my skin and fingers felt so dry. It worked and made me feel much better!

This pill is so large that I choked on it several times. I am looking on this website to see if there is a capsule form only to find out that it has a liquid form. It would be great to have this in a capsule. It was so effective in treating my respiratory problem.

This med caused severe colitis. After 1 day I had a stomach ache, after 2 days I had severe gas and bloating, on the 3rd day I started passing large quantities of bright red blood. I've only had minor stomach upset with antibiotics before this. The doctor insisted on doing a colonoscopy before treating the problem. It look, literally, months for the symptoms to disappear. My stomach has never been the same and it's been more than 2 years. Be very careful with antibiotics and the doctors who non-chalantly prescribe them. They can kill you. This one nearly killed me. (and I didn't really have strep, afterall. this was just expedient for the doctor.)Read More Read Less

My otolaryngologist originally prescribed ceftin for me before sinus surgery. The pharmacy gave me generic ceftin before sinus surgery (10 days twice a day). No noticeable effects. After the sinus surgery, the pharmacy gave me generic ceftin again (14 days twice a day). I developed colitis (ER diagnosis). Gastroenterologist then prescribed vancomyacin and a probiotic (postop)which stopped the severe diarrhea. People need to be aware and prepared for this type of side effect!!!

I got a piece of mulch under a toenail while working outside...using a pair of tweezers to try and get it out I slid it to the side of my toenail where it came out....sprayed with peroxide but in a few days had a sore toenail...was sore for a few days but it went away...within a week my leg got a rash with very large pimples on it...then my leg and foot started swelling within 24 hrs of this supposed flu...in the meantime I thought I got the flu....aching like you have never ached before with the flu...fever, chills, etc...either the mulch or the tweezers cause a break in the skin and the infection went away in my toe but caused cellulitus...bad stuff. Now the Ceftin the dr. prescribed helped within 24 hrs...but it tastes horrible..tried wrapping in bread but it is already a large pill which I thought I was going to need the hymlic to get it down or out or something...so didn't go the bread route...I tried putting a mouth full of liquid in and keeping it in while getting the pill in and to the back of my throat to swallow so you didn't taste it....this thing tastes nasty for a long time in your mouth..anyway, I accidently dropped it into my pancake syrup at breakfast and that was the best thing...I read the one who coated it in honey...same deal...no taste at all. Try it...makes taking this nasty tasting thing better....but the headache I can't seem to do anything about and also had chills with it. God BlessRead More Read Less

While Ceftin was effective in treating my bacterial pneumonia, it was the worst tasting medication I have ever had. Even though you swallow it whole, it still leaves an awful taste in your mouth that doesn't go away. I dreaded taking this pill twice a day just because of the taste.
