This product is effective. Take only one at a time (i took two once and was crying in pain). You should also plan to take it only when you can afford to have some quality bathroom time. You may need a few trips to the bathroom as it works through your system. Don't take it the day that you have something really imortant to do. I took it at 9 p.m. and it worked its way through at about 10 a.m. ...

I had received free samples of Dulcolax laxative tablets and took one two nights ago around 10PM. I woke up in the morning with moderate cramping, and while on my commute was feeling uncomfortable. I had jury duty that morning and as soon as the case began, I started feeling incredibly nauseous and hot, as well as crampy, and hobbled embarrassingly to the bathroom. There I stayed for 30 minutes hunched over the toliet on the cold tile floor, stripped down to my tank top as I was dripping in sweat and praying that the excruciating cramps would end (most of the time 5-10 seconds long, with a sometimes wet gurgling noise and pain so bad it's hard to imagine). I have never been in worse pain in my life. And during jury duty! A jury member notified the warden that I had been in the bathroom a long time, and she came in and asked if I needed an ambulence and excused me for the day. I got myself home and had a few more hours of severe cramping . The day was capped off by one episode of diarhhea around 7PM. All I ate was a piece of bread that day. I have thrown out ALL samples, and will never take again. Read More Read Less

Never again. I have taken go lytely and other laxatives for various reasons and they were much much more gentle. I have gallstones and am awaiting to see a surgeon...but have become constipated. I took ONE (directions say 1-3!)at 10pm and awoke at around 6am. Slight cramping but the excessive diaphoresis and nausea was TOO MUCH! Not very gentle Dulcolax...not at all. False advertisement. I am a RN and I thought I was having a heart attack! Almost called 911.

What is wrong with all these people?! I took 2 as recommended by my doctor for a colonscopy and will again take 2 at 12 hrs later. I have had NO pain, cramping, vomiting or any discomfort. Took 2 tablets at 7 am and by 2pm I was emptying my bowels...quite nicely. I would recommend no problems at all.

I took two Dulcolax an hour before I went to bed and I woke up an hour ago with the worst stomach cramps. I've been in and out of the bathroom for the last 45 minutes with diarrhea. Not gentle at all.

DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG! Horrible experience with only 1 pill. Vomited at the same time of elimination. Sweats, chills, dizziness, blurry vision. Worse than childbirth and appendix bursting 10 years ago. Threw the box in the trash.

I took Dulcolax at midnight right before bed and woke up around 8 with stomach cramps strong enough to wake me up. About 45 minutes later, I had diarrhea. This lasted about two hours or so, but I felt a little sick for a couple more hours. Harsh product, but it does what it's designed to do.

I had 13 painful bowel movements before 1st internal radiation theapy for my prostate. I endured sweating at 42 deg.f. I had diarrhea for 3 weeks and severe stomach cramps. I dont think it should be sold or taken since 42% EXPERIENCE A STOMACH ULCER when taken to clean the bowels before surgery.

I have got relief from constipation and irregular BM, so I used it regularly, most of the times 2 tablets per day, I have developed hypernatremia, I dont know if this has any relation to my use of dulcolax. Also, I find it extremely difficult to have BM without taking this medicine. I have no other complications like BP, cholesterol, blood sugar etc.

Unlike most peoples reviews this product worked for me without issue although this site gave me quite a scare.. Here is my story.. I am traveling from the US in india,I got very constipated as a lot of travelers do, I am in chennai at a hotel, i called the front desk and they couldnt help me but suggested I walk down the road to a pharmacy, I had a real adventure going out on foot on my own to a pharmacy here.. finally got there ( a tiny shanti of a place full to ceiling of boxes of meds) told them i needed something to promote a bowel movement and they gave me dulcolax 4 of them for 10 rupees (22cents). I was a bit apprehensive taking it at first place because of where i got it seemed kinda shady bet i could have gotten anything in that place. needless to say i really needed something so i took them when i got back to the hotel. i had looked them up on th net before eating them to make sure they were legit.. found a couple sites that gave overviews of what it was and decided it was all good.. ate them and a few min later came across this webmd site with all the horrific tales on it .. my heart sank. I thought I was really in for it.. on the other side of the world on my own about to go through hell. but nope, i ate them around 6 took a dump at 8 went to bed and went again a couple times the next morning. they give you diareha .. but thats the point right .... If I had read the stuff on this site before eating them i ould have definetly thrown them away... but just wanted to post this up.. that they can work without the negative side effects.... and most people write reviews when they arent happy with something not as many will review when things went smoothly.. but all and all I think this one is a toss up... so if you are really hurting to drop a bomb roll the dice i guess...Read More Read Less

It has been 2 days since I took 1 Dulcolax. I am still having stomach cramps and severe heartburn. Is heartburn a side effect? I have only had 1 bowel movement.

upper abdominal pain and nausea within an hour or two of taking 1 tablet. This is short lived and Dulcolax relieves the constipation.

I have taken this product before. There are two types. I have taken the blue somewhat normal size pills, they work with a little stomach cramping but once bowl movement occurs its gone. The last time I purchased these I opened the package and they were tiny, I mean tiny little tanish colored pills with a BI on it. Don't take these. I don't usually have problems with medication, but I'm in pain for hours. I took it once before and in pain for 24 hours, heart burn, stomach pain like you wouldn't believe. I had a bowl movement but the pain persisted. This is the second time I thought, maybe I was just sick...no. This medication is mean. It hurts to take and not worth the bowl movement. I feel like my stomach is on fire and I'm not hungry. Which is fine, but just being in pain is killing me. Don't take them. Read More Read Less

I took one tablet for severe constipation, and nothing happened, other than my feeling dizzy and a little nauseous. After reading all of the reviews here, I think I'll try something else rather upping the Dulcolax dosage.

I am a 23 year old female and had a little constipation for about 4 days, I decided to take 2 dulcolax tablets at about 8 pm. I woke up at 5 am with really bad cramps and diarrhea. I went back to bed and woke up an hour later with the same problem. It is now 11 am and my stomach still feels uneasy and have had diarrhea all day. I am not in excruciating pain, however it is incredibly uncomfortable. I would suggest fiber supplements or something else. This is not GENTLE.

Horrible cramping, explosive diarrhea advertised as "gentle" Nothing gentle about it. If you still want to use this product DON'T take more than 1 pill to start.

My doctor has prescribed TWELVE Ducolax tablets in preparation of a colonoscopy PLUS a gallon of that nasty liquid stuff. After reading these reviews, I'm not doing it. I think he's trying to kill me.

WOW!!! Reading this reviews. So what I have determined... stay away from the PILLS people. Obviously a near death experience. Any laxative that will work overnite will NOT be GENTLE (no matter the advertising). If 6 out 10 ten had no problem, It Passed test, even if the other 4 died. FDA Fact! I used Dulcolax Balance saved my life from killing the people around me :) due to my constipation Irritable bowels.

I took the four dulcolax pills as directed by the doctor to prepare for a colonoscopy. Within a very short time I was sick. To make a long story short, I had a very bad allergy reaction to the pills and ended up in the emergency clinic. Could not take my test today and have no idea when or how I'll have it. In all of my 74 years, this has been one of the worst experiences ever.

Took 3 pills as advised on the package. Became queasy, heartburn, couldn't sleep all night...pills started to work in am with intense cramping that doubled me over, tried not to scream, felt like passing out. This kept up for 6 hours. Could not leave the house, could barely walk. It is 9pm now & I am still feeling acutely weirded out, nauseou, can't eat, weak. What the hell is in this drug? I had less reaction when I accidentally ingested dish detergent from a cup...
