I take guaifenesin as part of the guaifenesin protocal for Fibromyalgia. It has been almost a complete salvation of allowing my to still function at a full time job and wean off most of the other prescribed meds I was on. I know that Fibro is not what guai is designed for, but when used in conjunction with the Protocol, it has been a wonderful tool.

Works great, thins mucuous, relieves congestion. Be sure to drink full glass of water with it and more liquids after. I use it off and on for relief of asthma symptoms.

I had a horrible allergic reaction less than 30 minutes after taking this medication - my chest, shoulders, neck and face became red and itchy and it became difficult to breathe.

Chronic Sinusitis, I've tried fighting my sinus infections with allergy treatments, decongestants and of course, antibiotics. I've noticed the sinus infections end sooner when taking Guaifenesin as I seem to blow my nose more, as the mucus thins. This thinning of the mucus appears to make me sneeze more as well, but it's a good sign the drug is working.

Had flu like symptoms, used cough suppressants w/expectorant at 100mg guaifenesin then 200mg. Had some reliefe with those doeses. Then tried the Mucinex DM 600mg w/ the cough suppressant dextromethorphan HBr and found it worked almost too well. No coughing but, no expectorating either, felt a numb sensation in mouth and throat, and in the hands. Slight dizziness/weakness. Abstained from any other medication for over 12 hrs and could determine when the MucinexDM had worn off-coughed up lots of phlegm and sinus discharge. I like the med so I could sleep or operate somewhat normally during the day but, I don't intend on taking more than 2 in any 24hr period. This drug didn't thin the phlegm but stopped everything in its track. Read More Read Less

After 3 days on MucinexDM, I had a severe allergic reaction and am now on prednisone. I will never take any form of it again. Also, the pills are too big to swallow easily.

I have used this medication (in an transdermal gel) compounded by my pharmacy to treat muscle spasms and low back pain. It not only is an expectorant, but a muscle relaxer that does not make you drowsy. In fact, guaifenesin is listed as a muscle relaxer with expectorant properties. Ask your doctor or compounding local pharmacy(chains don't compound) for more details!

I have chronic chest congestion and have taken this for years off and on. What it does is liquify thick mucous and allow you to cough it up easily and get it out. It does not "dry" you up. Works well for cough, as if you can get the offending mucous out, you don't cough as much, as often or as long. I have noted no side effects at all.

Chronic sinius, compounded by dry desert air and wind. GUAIFESIN used with saline solution spray ,relieves symptons the best with no apparent side effects as long as its taken with plenty of water and some food. Are there any long term concerns as I have to take for 8 weeks at a time.
