I started taking Lipitor about 5 years ago. It lowered my cholesterol from 260 to 156. I don't eat any red meat or pork, occasionally have chicken. This is primarily a genetic issue not diet/nutrition. I usually eat mediterranean-type food (veggies & pasta) and am 5' 9", weigh 162lbs. Both my father & grandfather had high cholesterol. I was not aware of any side effects but started experiencin...
Here i thought i was getting dementia, loss of memory has been driving me nuts, now i see it's this damn drug doing it..sham on you doctor's....

My cholesterol decreased from 289 to 160. The problem for me were the side effects..In the middle of the night I would get severe leg cramps. I stopped taking the lipitor and my legs cramps stopped completely.

When I started Lipitor I had severe muscle fatigue and aches. After a few months the ache and fatigue went away and my cholesterol went way down.

It gave me heart palpitations that really scared me as that wasn't printed in the side effects. My Aunt had passed away just as I was starting on it. Then my Mother passed two months later. I thought the palpitations were from stress. I found on the internet that it could be from the Lipitor. They went away when I stopped taking it.

After two weeks on the med I developed a massive headache and severe hot flashes. I thought I was going to self combust. My MD had me quit taking it immediately, it took about a week for the side effects to subside.

My cholesterol number came down immediately from 243 to 144. I still have to work on raising my good cholesterol number, but all my other numbers are great.

Lipitor made me feel sick to my stomach & lethargic. Horrible! I took the lowest dose, 10 mg, and couldn't tolerate it for more than a week. I changed my diet & lost about 7 lbs, and upon recheck, my cholesterol was normal. My husband takes 50 mg and tolerates it very well.

My Dr. put me on Lipitor(20 mg. 1x daily) 2yrs ago for high (267 overall) cholestrol. Went back 6 weeks later for repeat blood work and my overall cholestrol was down to 154!!! All other numbers, LDL, HDL, TRIG., etc were also within the normal range. I do not have any adverse reactions to lipitor. My body has tolerated it quite well. I have blood work done every 3 to 4 month and since being on Lipitor, my numbers are always in the normal range. My husband is on another med and his #'s are not nearly as impressive as mine. But his M.D. refuses to change his med. As for me, with Lipitor and daily exercise, I should be here for quite some time. Read More Read Less

My Dr says it's not from the Lipitor but I didn't have these symptoms before (when I was on NO medications); My feet hurt sometimes when I get out of bed so much that my husband says it looks like I'm walking on hot coals. My hip joints hurt, too, unless I get out and walk for at least 30 mins on a regular basis.

I have been on Lipitor for over a year and my bad cholestorol has dropped from 225 to 76. The only thing I'd like to see to is a less expensive generic replacement. It's pretty expensive.

The cure was worse than the disease. For example after about a year I could not get up out of the car without pulling my self up. Could not cross legs to put on socks. Gradualy backed off completely and feel the best in a year. I can now excersie,Rails to Trails, bicycling do yard work without pain and weakness. Cholesterol up from 130 to 200. I'm looking for other ways to lower the number to aboout l50.
