I have been taking this for a month. Mood swings are much better. I have some acne right around my period. Overall a decent choice.

WORST PILL EVER!!!! I have has severe headache, blurred vision, weight gain, and bad bleeding....never ever again will I take this pill. i have been on many bc pills this is a nightmare!!!!

I was on Necon for a few years until my pharmacy changed my prescription to Nortel 1/35 (they told me it was the EXACT same as Necon). Since being on Nortrel, I have had HORRIBLE breakouts on my chin & jawline - I'm talking large, cystic acne that will not go away! I never had "perfect" skin, but I have never had breakouts like this, and I am 27 years old! This pill also gives me horrible headaches and makes me feel sick to my stomach. Only positive is my period is light and lasts for 3 days!

I have had very bad acne breakouts. No mood swings. Very sensitive and painful breasts. No weight gain. I like this pill except for the painful breasts and acne. Very effective for my cysts and birth control

I have been on this BC for about 5 months and it is very effective. So far the only side effects I have had is headaches around the time my period is coming on and when I first started taking it my stomach was in knots for about a week.

While in this drug, I experienced weight gain of 30+ pounds, very difficult to lose now. I also experienced higher cholesterol (I never had a problem with it before). Loss of libido was a big problem too. It's great to have shorter periods but losing libido was taking a toll in my relationship. I had no interest at all in intimacy. I felt miserable! I felt the person in the mirror was not who I was and my husband was thinking I didn't love him any more. I tried several different diets with no success. I eat 1200 calories a day and didn't lose a pound. I talked to my Doctor about changing the drug,but he thought the drug was not the culprit. I decided I had to stop it, and basically told my Doctor I was not taking it anymore. I stopped taking it and within 20 days libido came back and I started to lose weight already! Talk to your Doctor if you think any drug is making changes to your health. Trust yourself! we know ourselves better than anybody else. I took this pill for almost a year. It worked well. I never got pregnant. As for side effects: almost never felt nauseous, went up one bra cup size, no big change in weight, no big mood changes, no change in skin appearance. The only reason I stopped taking it was because I've started to have breakthrough bleeding the past two months. Doctor was unsure why, but now she's prescribed me a new medication.

BAD PILL. I am nauseous everyday on this pill. It's like I have morning sickness every morning. I don't have my period like I should...It's like 3 days and then when I start my new pack I bleed through the first week of it when I shouldn't be. No weight gain, but weight loss because of the nausea. ACNE!!! I never have acne, but on this pill I have it all on my chest and face even when I'm not on my period. Yeast infections before each period also...can't stand this pill. It's awful. I've been on many different birth controls such as YAZ, Ortho tri-cyclen, Mirena, and the patch and this one is the WORST!! I would get my IUD put back in before continuing on this pill.Read More Read Less

I am getting ready to start my 3rd month on this particular birth control. I tried Loestrin 24fe and did not respond well so we tried Nortrel 1/35. I haven't noticed any real side effects other than at times there seems to be an inability to achieve an orgasm. I haven't had any acne issues, not too much weight gain that I couldn't lose by watching what I eat. I have noticed increased irritability around my period and an increase in the intensity of the headaches I typically get with my period. My period went from 3 days of spotting / streaking + 4 days of heavy bleeding with awful cramps to 3 days of a moderate flow period that was easily contained with a super absorbency tampon as opposed to my previous use of Ultra absorbency AND a thick overnight pad. If the headaches continue, I will check with my doctor. That could be attributed to a lot of other things, but I noticed it within my first pack. Ok, So I have been taking the pill for about a year, and I just started having bad side effects. First I had a very long abnormal period, and then missed two in a row. Also, I have had a horrible chest pain, which is also connected to my jaw and ear pain. Only on the left side of my body. I don't miss any pills, and am still worried, so I have to take a prego test. I think this pill is doing more harm than good. Especially with the periods, sometimes very heavy, and other times none at all.

I have only been on the pill for a week and 3 days.I figured there would be side effect's at first. I was really moody the first few days.Then I have been in a good mood but I have been really emotional. Crying over everything.That's not what made me look into this drug tho. The other day I had gas all day long and Twice now since i started on this I have had Heartburn twice and I don't get heartburn very often. I'm just wondering if this is normal at first?If its going to stop? or if maybe I need to ask my doctor for another Birth control not as strong.Read More Read Less

I have not had major problems with acne but since being on this drug my chin and and jaw line are full of cystic acne. Its painful. I had spotting before the 4th week of placeholders pills.

I have found this brand of BC to be great. I've been on it 5 years. I do have acne that is a little worse than normal around my mouth/jaw (one a month) but everything else is good. Periods are lighter, no bloating, no mood swings, no weight gain, no other adverse side effects. I do get headaches around my period sometimes since I've been on this.

This pill has me very tired . I missed one pill but made sure I doubled up the next day and has been bleeding heavily for almost two weeks and have had painful cramps. Also my lower part of my legs feel very tight and gets a tingling sensation in them . This didn't start until I got on this birth control . I do not like it at all

I've just recently started taking this birth control and I've already had a bad reaction. It caused nausea, dizziness, fainting, numbness, lack of sleep, and chest pain. I originally had no idea what these symptoms were from, so I did my research and saw other reviews with these same side effects.

I was switched from ortho tri lo to this because I was bleeding for almost three months straight. Haven't experienced any negative side effects. Everything seems the same other than the ironically absent periods. I completely missed the first one and my second one was only one day long. I took a pregnancy test after the first missed one and it was negative so I'm hoping the one day period is from the birthcontrol. Other than that works great

I have been taking Notrel for 5 months now and i have gained 5lbs in 5months and i work out 4 days/wk. I am SUPER bloated feeling and constantly cramping. I take this pill continousely so i dont have any cycle and it has been great with no break through bleeding but i cant handle the side effects. Acne, Bloating, Dry Scalp, and gain weight. I am switching this week and i am so excited to give a new med a try.

Well, i have been taking this form of birth control for about a year now and i seem to have a somewhat strange symptom-- i have absolutely no period when I'm taking this drug. Sometimes i forget to take a pill the night before and then i will have my period but other times i still have no period. My mom made me take a pregnancy test about a year ago and it came out negative. Is there anyone else who has the same side effect?

My mother put me on this when I turned 16. Im not 23, about to turn 24, and since I stopped talking it, I have had problems getting pregnant. IVE NEVER ONCE GOTTEN PREGNANT AFTER TAKING NORTREL!!! It is a problem since Im now married, 3.5 yrs, and we want to start a family. Its been disappointment after disappointment. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL.

I have been on this pill for over 2 years. I've never had flawless skin but I noticed the acne got WORSE and more painful esp around my jaw line and chin. I don't get headaches from this but I have noticed a big change that no one else has mentioned... right after my period I have the most foul smelling discharge. I have NEVER had this issue before. (I was on Orthotricyclin Lo last but switched for insurance purposes.) It's so embarrassing! Now that my employer is contributing to our HSA accounts I am switching back to Orthotricylin Lo - forking out the extra money will be worth it. This def was not the BC for me, but stuck with it because my insurance covered generics and it did it's job as far as preventing pregnancy but this has has some of the months awful & embarrassing side effects!
