I have trouble turning off my thoughts at night due to stressful days. I tried 3mg regular melatonin. It just didn't make me relax. I tried 3mg time release but kept waking up, it just didn't seem strong enough. The melatonin sl seems to turn off my racing thoughts and I can relax earlier and sleep well. It got me to sleep, but it made it difficult to wake up/ concentrate during the day.

Melatonin is naturally occurring in our bodies but lose it as we age. I started my son on this when he was 5yo, he has autism and although he slept well., it seemd to relax him. I would give it 1 hr before his bedtime and 98% of time, he was ready for bed. Proof for me is when husband would forget to give it, he would be awake longer. As an adult we have more stress obviously so it does not always work. I do suggest melatonin with magnesium and/or B vit(forget, maybe 6). Also Natrol has a fast release chewable which is wonderful. Again, my daughter is a night owl at age 8yo. I will ask her to take one if I feel she is too wound up. It works like a charm so for me, my kids are proof it works. I did try fast relief last night and I did get tired but also was 1100pm so unsure. I will have to test/trial myself on it. Again, as adults we need exercize, eat right and try other relaxation techniques. Easier said than done!Read More Read Less

Sometimes I still wake earlier than I want to but only by about an hour or so and not every night. Only thing is I seem to have vivid dreams, not nightmares though. They don't wake me up but, sometimes it seems my sleep is not as restful as it could be without the vivid dreams. I take the cherry mel. sl, usually 3mg per night, from GNC and it tastes fine and melts fine in my mouth.Read More Read Less
