I would advise any young woman NOT to take this pill. I almost died taking it with the uncommon side effects. I was diagnosed with pulmonary embolisms, pneumonia and pulmonary hypertension within 2 months of taking this pill. when i was prescribed Yasmin, no steps were taken to ensure I would stop smoking, loose weight etc, it was a 5 minute appointment with my gp and I was sent on my way. I have been on Yasmine for 2 years. I did not take any weight with this pill and my periods are finally regulated! Also helped my skin! I suffer from migrains since I was 6 years old and this pill did not increase them. I was also on anxiety medication when I started this contraceptive and I did not get depressive one bit, even when I stopped my anxiety meds. I love yasmine!

I switched to this pill from YAZ because it was free through my insurance. I have PCOS and when I don't use BC pills I don't get my pd. I was on it for a month and very unhappy. I was sore, swollen, and gained 5 lbs. My face broke out to an embarrassing degree. When I finished the pack and got my pd it was the worst nauseating experience. I had to lay down to not throw up and my pd was really heavy and has lasted now for 2 wks. I also got a yeast infection and had no sex drive at all.

Started Yasmin in HS due to bad acne, worked out moderately, but never ate healthy, my acne cleared up, I increased in breast size and I felt normal. Stopped Yasmin for a good year and a half or so due to my acne disappearing and lack of sexual activity. Within that year, say 6 months after the pill, I changed my lifestyle, I lost 15 pounds, started to eat clean, and developed my love for running. Went back on it recently this month because I became irregular with my periods due to my change of diet and I FEEL TERRIBLE. After going from being extremely happy, healthy, and energetic, I got my period and bam, mood swings like never before, like other users, I feel like life is suddenly overwhelming, when I get angry for example it's amplified to the fullest extent and I'm extremely angry at myself. I feel needy, bloated, sad, and I don't feel like the new-self I worked so hard on becoming. After my period is done, I'm getting off the pill to see how I'll react again. I feel bad that I'm taking such a toll on my body, but I've never felt so helpless against my own body in my entire life. Anyone else feeling like this? Read More Read Less

Im 32 and feel that after using this pill for over 18months I feel compelled to warn others away from using it. on the plus side i didnt get pregnant. I took the pill for about 8 months and the changes to mood were so subtle I barely noticed them happening. As time wore on I became lethargic, depressed, tired, moody and suffered the most hurrendous IBS with cramping so bad I would break into a sweat with the pain. As a mother with 3 kids I felt useless as I was either tied to the toilet or so depressed and lethargic I was unable to leave the house or play with my kids. The doctor just blamed IBS, said I was gluten intolerant (despite no testing) and offered anti-depressants. I refused meds and took to researching Yasmine on the web. This is when I came across numerous other stories like mine so I quit the pill the same day. A few days later the IBS stopped altogether. The moods lifted and energy restored over the next couple weeks. By the end of the month I was like a new person and 4 months on I have not looked back. Because the symptoms were slow to develop I would never have linked the two of them had I had seen the web articles and decided to come off yasmine to see what happened. My advise is dont risk this pill. End of. If you are already on and feel well please be vigilant and come off it the minute you start to feel anything but your normal self.Read More Read Less

I'm 19 years old and started taking Yasmin 10 months ago due to ovarian cysts. I believe my cysts have gone away but this birth control has turned me into a completely different person. I get extremely moody and snap on people without reason. It has caused a strain on my relationship because of the mood swings. I haven't gotten pregnant on this birth control but I have spotting all through the month. I just ran out of my last pack and plan on getting the Implanon on the 20th of this month.

I love Yasmin 28 it worked wonders for me, it regulated my periods, I didn't gain weight, no moodiness, no side effects what so ever, and it did wonders on my skin gave me a much more youthful complexion. I did try YAZ and it was completely different for me I did have side effects and went back to Yasmin 28.

I was on this birth control and started feeling very depressed, to the point of getting angry at myself. I was absolutely overwhelmed with life, cried for no reason. My doctor put me on a different pill and all my sysmptoms cleared until I started developing cysts. He switched me back to this one again, because we both could not remember why I went off of it. After just one month of taking this I can't stand myself. Frustrated, anger, depression, this is crazy! This pill should not be available!Read More Read Less

This is my first month on Yazmin, and it is my LAST! It works fine, I don't have any physical problems, but it makes me SO moody!! I have gotten into countless big fights with my boyfriend over little things in just the past couple of weeks that I've been on Yazmin. I'm also constantly feeling depressed. It's not worth it for me! I used to be on Beyaz which was great, but it is no longer provided in my country. I will be trying out Yaz next month...

I have been on Yasmin for almost four years and I love it. I asked my doctor to switch me to something that cost a little less so she put me on Sprintec and then Loestrin. It was horrible. After 1 month on sprintec and 6 month on loestrin I begged her to switch me back to Yasmin. Within 2 weeks I was happier having fewer mood swings and lost weight. I think i'll pay the higher price from now on

I was at my lowest weight. 3-4 days light period. Excessive sex drive to the point my husband was upset. I had severe anxiety. Panic attacks. Gallbladder pain. Dry contacts. My doctor denied my anxiety was from the bcp. Tried several anti-anxiety, anti-depressants before realizing it was Yasmin and stopped them all. The unwarrented rage was awful. I have been off of Yasmin and on the Paraguard (non hormone IUD)for almost a year now. Symptoms of anxiety and fear and rage subsided within months. I would love, love, love to be able to take this to manage my weight but the side effects are awful. Thank you to all the ladies that posted about our alike symptoms, my husband and I got a lot of validation - we thought we were alone in this nightmare!! Read More Read Less

I switched from Tri-Sprintec to this recently and have only been taking yasmin for about two weeks.. But so far I am losing the weight I gained from Tri-S. and my face is clearing up slowly but surely. The only side effect that has been bothering me is fatigue, for the past two weeks I have been extremely tired but I'm slowly starting to regain my energy. I hope I stay positive about this birth control pill!

My healthy 20 yr. old daughter was prescribed Ocella to regulate her periods. After 3 months she found a lump on her chest, which her GYN simple told her to watch for any changes. She began to have headaches, which we did not at the time connect to the birth control pill. On Easter Sunday 2010 she experienced a headache, she was confused, (couldn't recall certain things), had a pain in her right shoulder and complaint of vision problems in her right eye. (After researching her symptoms, we now believe she had a TIA, which we are in the process of trying to prove). Later that day she had a Gran Mal Seizure. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance and had another seizure on route, 2 more in the ER, and 2 later that night in the hospital, even though the hospital had put her on anti-seizure medication. She was put into a coma to try and stop the seizures, but they still continued. They took every imaginable test, including spinal tap, brain spect but found nothing. She passed away 3 days before her 21 Birthday. We told Doctors, Nurses, Ambulance Driver, etc. that the only thing that had been different in her life was taking the birth control pill Ocella. No one seemed to care much or made any conncetion between her seizures and the pill. I have read numerous posts about DVT, Strokes, etc., and I would like to know if anyone else has experienced seizures while on Ocella, or Yasmin. These pills are dangerous and should be taken off the shelves. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced seizures while taking these birth control pills. Thank you. After birth of my second child I decided to try Yasmin. First three months were fine and then the fourth month my breasts went up a cup and I gained ten pounds WHILE exercising six days a week and eating a sensible diet. I also started losing my hair and I'm not talking about a little here or a little there due to just having a baby. I'm talking about huge handfuls to the point where I could see the scalp in the front of my head. Once I stopped taking the Yasmin my hair has slowly stopped falling out and it's been 5 months. Other than that my face was clear as could be but I was balding and fat. Read More Read Less

I have been taking Yasmin for over 4 years and have not had any problems with it at all. I have not experienced any mood swings, no weight gain, etc. My sex drive has actually increased...... I tried to switch to another BC that would be less expensive and had every symptom that others are reporting, EXTREME mood swings were the worst, so back to Yasmin 28. I have tried Ocella the generic version in the past and experienced break through bleeding throughout the month. I will stick with Yasmin. Read More Read Less

Best birth control EVER!!!!! I loved it! I took Yasmin for about 4 years. During that time I had no side effects at all. My break outs stopped and I didn't have any cramps during my time on Yasmin. It was great. The only reason I switched was because my period arrival started to become unpredictable. I am hoping that my doctor will put me back on Yasmin at my next yearly appointment!
