I love Yasmin!! I didn't gain any weight, my face is super clear, it's easy to use and i didn't get any side effects like breast tenderness, etc. I HIGHLY recommend it.

I would advise any young woman NOT to take this pill. I almost died taking it with the uncommon side effects. I was diagnosed with pulmonary embolisms, pneumonia and pulmonary hypertension within 2 months of taking this pill. when i was prescribed Yasmin, no steps were taken to ensure I would stop smoking, loose weight etc, it was a 5 minute appointment with my gp and I was sent on my way. I was on another pill for many years and my doctor changed me to Yasmin in March 2008. I found Yasmin made me quite hormonal and was then shocked to discouver in October 2008 that I had an aggressive form of breast cancer only 6 months after starting to take Yasmin. The hospital advised me to stop taking it and to never go back on it. Since I have been receiving my breast cancer treatment I have met 3 other ladies who were switched from their normal pill to Yasmin and all within less than a year were also diagnosed with breast cancer. Please girls do not take it... ask your doctor for another brand. It's not worth it and I would never wish anyone else to go through the chemo, hairloss and having to have huge amounts of breast removed. It just seems to many people have got breast cancer after using Yasmin. Please come off it.Read More Read Less

I was started on the pill at a young age to help with my long, heavy, painful periods and cysts. I love yasmin! I have been on it for about 6 years. Unfortunately, a few months ago my periods got heavier and longer, so my dr suggested I switch. I tried Yaz and hated it, so now she has me on Loestrin24. I'm hoping it helps with lighter, shorter periods. Even still, I'm considering switching back to yasmin bc it was so great.

I have been taking Yasmin for 3 years. I absolutely love it. I have not had any pregnancy scares. The only side effect I have is the nausea. I was on it for a year and a half before I decided to get pregnant with my second and I got pregnant within 2 weeks of stopping the pill and my daughter is perfectly fine. After trying other forms of birth control--the depo shot and a different birth control pill I would definitely tell others to try this pill.

i have been taking this medicine for six almost seven years. i absolutely love it! i originally went on this so my periods werent so heavy. after just two months on this pills my flow completely regulated. i start on the same day every month i flow for 5...6 days max very little cramps and no baby not even one pregnancy scare!!! i recently switched to the generic...the name brand was $40 a month the generic is $4 ($4!!!!!!!) how much more could you want. its cheap and extremely effective! only down side is the weight gain. i gained 30lbs when starting the pills then i was so sick i was bed ridden for over a week and didn't take the pill so i had to start all over like i had never taken it before so i gained another 15 lbs. still worth it though!Read More Read Less

Yasmin has been very effective in the no baby department for 3 years. I've switched to the generic and found no differences other than it being about $10 cheaper (woo hoo) My only problem is that starting the pills escalated my migraines. But, 4-5 migraines a month is WAY better than no baby.

The generic of this has the EXACT SAME primary drugs as the name brand and works just as well. Anyone who claims differently is being influenced by the 'placebo' effect- mentally influenced side effects. The ONLY difference could be the 'filler' ingredients and these shouldn't influence anything unless you're allergic to the fillers... but wouldn't affect weight gain or other drug side effects. People are being silly. Go generic and save money, it's the SAME drug! I hope this helps.

I am going on my fifth year of using Yasmin and I love it. I never have had any side effects including the most important one to avoid... pregnancy. I have switched to the generic and I love it. It's exactly the same in every way. Bayer even gets a cut of the profits from the generic manufacturers. I am highly satisfied with the results.

Ocella is the generric drug for Yasmin. I was ask by my OBGYN if I would like to try it. I said no,because I thought it wouldnt be effective. My pharmacy gave it to me without asking. I questioned it and thought I would give it a try, because it was cheaper. It was not worth it!!! I started with symptoms that were not real noticable redness and swelling but no pain until the second month of pills. I had burning swelling and redness and and upset stomach. I had to put a icebag there it helped with burning. Then came the yeast infection on top of it all. Called my Obgyn they said these were side effects from the fillers. And that after my period I could have another yeast infection. This drug in not the same as Yasmin. Even the hormones are different It was not worth the aggravation. There is a big difference in generic drugs. I had to find out the hard way.Read More Read Less

I have been on this med about 6 wks. I am hoping its why I started gaining weight again. I had bad breast pain last month but never related it to the med till now. My period went from 3-5 days without knowing when it would start, to knowing when it would start but it lasted 2 days with nothing but dry blood. No actual flow blood. Yuck! I have felt like I had my period almostt everyday since - a sensation down under. A bit of wetness discharge from time to time except when I "need the wetness" not only is my drive gone but ability to preform is decreasing ... think that may be the med too. Always had vaginal dryness but now its a lot worse! I promised to finish out this "pack" but I do not think I will do month 3 like I also promised to do. I was on YAZ and may go back. If I did not have PCOS I would get of bc completely I hate it! Please note: Yaz and Yasmin are NOT the same BCP.Read More Read Less

Generic brand was given to me and does not seem to work as well. I am having pain in my endometrial "hot spots" again, and I had a heavier period again. I think the generic is not as good.

I loved it as far as shorter, less cramps and lighter periods. I went from a 2 week period to 1 week with little or no cramps at all. But I had several side effects. I had headaches, diarrhea, nausea, and cried over nothing almost everyday. I was beginning to think I was going crazy until I talked to others who had taken Yasmin also and had the same effects. Being moody was really difficult for my family and having the nausea and diarrhea all day everyday was hard to function with. This was just not the right BC for me. My Gyn has now switched me to Loestrin so we'll see what happens with that.Read More Read Less

I was switched from yasmin to ocella, the new generic form of it. The awful cramps that I had, heavy bleeding, and lightheadedness were terrible. I felt like I was not even on birth control. Its absolutely not worth the switch.

I suffered the side effects very severely, cramping, bloating, vaginal discomfort. But they seem to be reducing as the weeks go on.

I've been on Yasmin for nearly 5 years. I definitely recommend it. I had no ill effects at the beginning, didn't gain weight. My periods are slightly longer, but predictable and much lighter. My face is clearer, and no worries about babies. I think it has a slight dampening on my sex drive, but nothing major. I switched to the generic this month, and so far, no changes in anything (except the cost to me...woo-hoo!). I had tried a different birth control pill for several months, and it was terrible. I wouldn't switch from Yasmin for the world.Read More Read Less

I was on Yasmin for 5 years before I got sterilized. I went off it after my surgery and my life has been hell ever since. Yasmin was fantastic; helped with acne, had a very small damper on my sex drive, made my boobs huge and my periods non-existent. The only thing I hated was having to remember to take a pill daily. When I quit taking Yasmin, I aquired major PMS, horrid mood swings, very HEAVY and painful periods, I lost about 20 lbs, I lost most of my boobage and I became EXTREMELY fatigued and depressed. My doc put me back on the stuff last week.Read More Read Less

I HAVE TRIED THE GENERIC! I was not fully satisfied with yasmin 28, but since I had only been on it 2 months I decided to try a little longer to see if side effects (COMPLETE loss of libido, nausea, loss of appetite) would dissipate. Then my pharmacist automatically switched me to Ocella, the generic of Yasmin28. It has been horrible for me. I've noticed that after the week of inactive pills has passed and I begin active again I am deathly nauseas, and vomit regularly. Still zero sex drive, but that isn't even my main concern. I have been missing work due to the constant vomitting and nausea. WARNING! Read More Read Less
