I love Yasmin!! I didn't gain any weight, my face is super clear, it's easy to use and i didn't get any side effects like breast tenderness, etc. I HIGHLY recommend it.

I would advise any young woman NOT to take this pill. I almost died taking it with the uncommon side effects. I was diagnosed with pulmonary embolisms, pneumonia and pulmonary hypertension within 2 months of taking this pill. when i was prescribed Yasmin, no steps were taken to ensure I would stop smoking, loose weight etc, it was a 5 minute appointment with my gp and I was sent on my way. I took Yasmin for about 8 months, and recently switched to a different BC. I had EXTREME anxiety issues on this drug to the point where, looking back, I am surprised my husband didn't put me in the nut house (I have no prior history of mental health problems either)! My sex drive was non-existent. I did experience moderate nausea around the clock as well. However, I didn't get pregnant while on it, I lost a lot of weight (probably due to the nausea), and my face cleared up beautifully. I am curious to try Yaz, as it is a lesser dose. This medication caused a 10lb weight gain for me that hasn't been easy to deal with.

I have been taking this for 9 months and it DID fix my mood swings and acne, but it caused such bad migraines I couldn't function. My doctor switched me to something else today.

I was concerned with my mild acne so my doctor put me on Yasmin. During the first pack, I noticed that my acne became considerably worse. I experience slight weight gain (about 5 lbs) and breast tenderness. I thought it I should just tough it out...perhaps I would see improvements with the second pack. Unfortunately I didn't. Although Yasmin was effective at preventing pregnancy, I am switching brands because the acne is becoming quite unsightly.

I was on it for 4 months and was not happy...besides putting on a few pounds my sex drive was practically gone.

I took Yasmin for 8 months. It regulated my cycle and helped to ease the pain I was experiencing the week of my period. However, I was constantly moody and depressed. I was also short of breath and experienced numbness in my legs. I was also very lethargic. The side effects were just not worth the effectiveness of regulation of my cycle and minimizing cramps. I do not reccomend this drug!

I was given this birth control to help with dysmenorrhea as well as for normal contraceptive reasons. I took it continually so that I only had periods every 4 months. While this med did cut the number of my migraines, which was a pleasant side effect, I did gain 60, count them, 60 pounds in one year on this med- and I had been the same weight for 5 years, so this weight gain was certainly a side effect of this pill. The extra weight contributed to me injuring my back, and now I am in my third year of nasty back pain- pain much more debilitating than my cramps, cysts, and even migraines ever were. I certainly wouldn't rule this pill out, but for those taking it, or thinking about starting it, watch out for weight gain and mention it to your doc if you start to notice pounds piling on. I didn't put the pieces together until I weighed over 200 pounds, and it has been a real struggle to take the weight back off. Read More Read Less

I was put on Ocella because my periods were lasting for a month at a time for nothing at all. I thought it was made to not have a period while on the pill, but I have had a period for 2 weeks now after the first time missing one pill. I am totally upset with my OBGYN now for putting me on this. It isn't helping with my acne either. And because of my irregular period, I am severely anemic. It was my need for a blood transfusion that started me with the birth control and it doesn't work!

I had been on this before, but then went off to go on Seasonale to minimize my periods, but after a year of being on that I got sick of the constant spotting, so my doctor put me back on Yasmin. It supposedly clears up acne, but it didn't clear up mine, and I've put on some weight. However, it has made me extremely depressed. I'm already on anti-depressants, and this makes me feel like I'm off them again. I was concerned it was my anti-depressants, but then I realized, ta da, it's the Yasmin, so now I'm looking into getting off of it, because it is making my life a living hell at the moment.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed yasmin in highschool for my mod-sever acne and it helped a little bit. I had issues with my dermatologist trying to put me on acutane so I stopped all treatment. Years later I'm taking it again for cramps that cause really bad constipation and IBS and it's working. I have been eating a lot more/normally, before I ate almost nothing but then ate everything in site around my period. My acne still gets worse around my period but I haven't been taking it very long and it's not as bad. Read More Read Less

Ive been on Yasmin for 3 years. The effectiveness is 100% for me so far. However, it has not made my acne go away, my periods lighter or shorter, or reduced my cramps. I totally recommend this for birthcontrol, but for the other problems...may not so much.

I've been on Yasmin for about 5 years and it has worked great for me. I've experienced no problems and had decreased cramps and shorter periods. Recently I've switched to the generic and have not noticed a difference. I would recommend this to any one looking for a birth control method.

I've been using Yasmin for 5+ yrs. I love it! I have no problems with. My cycle is 4 days (whoo-hoo),no cramping, no "close calls" or worries about being pregnant while taking his product, and I have not experienced any of the side effects (knock wood) except weight gain which I am sure if I got out and did some exercise I would be a healthy size. Now this week I went to re-fill and received Ocella. I read some of the reviews on it (more bad than good) and honestly I am afraid to take it. It seems as though everyone who took it switched back to yasim for all of the same reasons, the side effects. I will take it because that's what I have. So look out for my views of Ocella in about 2 months. I hope I will no regrets and have a good review to report. Read More Read Less

I started Ocella about a week and a half ago because I was diagnosed with PCOS. I have since noticed that I have more acne. Since I have just started this medication, I am wondering if this is normal...I know that one of the side affects is to have less acne. Im hoping that my skin will be back to normal soon...no other side affects. Anyone else experience this?
