It worked completely opposite of what a sleep med should do. Took one pill, started going in and out of sleep then had evil nightmares and night terrors. I thought I was yelling to my wife to "help me" but I must have been dreaming I was yelling. The rest of the night was restless sleep in and out of sleep every hour. Felt so terrible the next morning, groggy with a terrible headache, almost had t...

I have been taking this medication for 10 days now. I have lately had trouble staying asleep, and once I wake up, I am usually up for the remainder of the night. I do not stay asleep on this medication, however, it does allow me to fall back asleep pretty quickly. The downfall is the hangover in the morning. I am so exhausted the next day for several hours. I have also noticed a "funk" that I tend to be in - almost depressed. After reading the reviews I am thinking it is the medicine. My doc said to give it time to work - so I will finish my 30 days and see if the side effects clear up. Also, I may start taking the medication earlier in the evening, rather than bedtime, so it can wear off by the morning. I have been combining it with melatonin, so maybe I need to drop that as well?Read More Read Less

I forgot to add to my unsatisfactory experience that I had the weird, paralyzing night terror as some others have had. I felt I wasn't really asleep but thought my husband was tugging at my feet to wake up, I tried to open my eyes and my eye lids felt like they had weights on them. I then struggled to get my hand to my eyes because I felt paralyzed. I then woke up and thought, “what the heck just happened”? This drug was very disturbing for me. I thought it was some weird side effect just for me, until I read others had night terrors after taking this crazy drug. This drug needs taken from market. Read More Read Less

Night 1, 25mg and I waited and waited and waited. Not even a yawn. Night 2, I doubled to 50mg max dose. I waited and waited and waited. Nothing. About dawn I napped on and off from exhaustion. I called my Dr. and went back to my previous sleep aid. It does give me some rest which is better than none. I do not recommend this Quviviq. It’s no more than a placebo for me.

I avoided taking this at first because of people talking about nightmares and sleep paralysis which I have experienced before both on other medications and without medications. However, personally I have not had any bad experiences so far while taking this. It seems be working well after 3 weeks of use. However I’m still uncertain on whether it’s creating some fatigue during the day. I am experiencing some but I have some other medications/conditions that could be causing it. Time should tell. I began taking this medication since October (2023) for sleep-onset insomnia issues. The first night I tried this Rx, I experienced some marked uncharacteristic (for me) interrupted sleep, which left me disappointed. However, several nights later I decided to try it again, and I fell asleep quite quickly with no interruptions in sleep. This has been my experience with taking the medication after I’m in bed for the night ever since—it has been working great! The only side effect I have noticed is some increased tiredness in the A.M. the day after, which especially seems to occur if I am unable to get a full 6-8 hours of sleep (taking dose too late & having to wake up early, etc). I will say that I have not had an issue waking up to my regular alarm consistently, which is wonderful. I have been taking 25 mg.-50 mg./night as needed and have also noticed the next-day tiredness increased with the higher dose. Overall, I have been very happy with this medication so far! First 3 nights I slept 10 to 10.5 hours. The following days I had to lay down (not sleep) for 90 minutes mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Next 3 nights I slept 9 to 9.5 hours, and only had to lay down (not sleep) mid-morning for 90 minutes. Week 2 was wonderful. I slept for 8 to 8.5 hours, with no lay downs. I haven't felt so refreshed or alert in many years. At the beginning of Week 3 it suddenly and completely stopped working.

I started this sleep because my sleep doctor perscribed it. After 2 weeks of taking it I am very dissatisfied with the results. I feel crappy when I get up & about half the time it doesn’t work For me. I don’t recommend it.

Quviviq is in no way comparable to Ambien. To begin with, double the maximum of 50mg dose was required (you may require more) after laying awake for 3 hours to even get to sleep. Then this drug is gives you paralyzing extreme night terror dreams that may last for two sleep cycles. In short, this medication is highly ineffective and is frankly very scary to use.

Not for me at all. Caused extremely emotional dreaming. Felt like I had been through a lifetime of grief every time I woke up. And I woke up at least five times to pee which never happens. And I’d go right back into the dream that I was dreading. I even stayed awake for an hour trying to get the dream process to stop but it just kept starting where it left off. Honestly, I’d rather have insomnia than take this again.

I’ve been a chronic poor sleeper for all my life. I’ve tried all different types of sleep aids to include benzodiazepines, hypnotics, etc; some that worked for a period of time and some that had no effect. I asked my doctor to try Quviviq as it was the only one I hadn’t tried (50 mg). My personal experiences have been great. It does not make me drowsy at all, but for some reason, I do fall asleep easier. My sleep chart (Fitbit) shows my “awake” time substantially reduced and I notice when I do wake up, I can drop right back off and even into the same dream quicker than ever (as opposed to thoughts taking over and keeping me awake). And my dreams are vivid and I can remember details of them; that being of particular note as I haven’t remembered dreams in decades. I’m a large man at 6’5” and the size of a linebacker, so I think maybe 50 mg to me is not an overly large dose. For me, this is a game changer and I no longer fight to stay asleep like I have for ages. I have been on it for almost 2 months and have no known side effects from it; no sleep hangover, no cognitive issues, no lethargy, no depression, etc. My experience has been very good with it and I was the world’s WORST sleeper, despite good sleep habits. I hope this keeps working like this. Maybe I’m lucky, but this truly works well for me with no known negative effects.Read More Read Less

This is the worst drug I ever tried. It didn't make my sleep better, but it caused depression and cognitive decline. My Dr. was unhappy I was taking 2 mg Ambien, so she wanted me to try quviviq. It worked well first few nights. Then it stopped working. But, much worse, I started feeling really bad. I am an engineer/researcher, and my cognition went so poor I can not handle the most basic math now. I became very depressed, got severe headaches, low energy and even tremors. My sleep got worse than before I started quviviq. I'm 2 weeks off the drug, and headaches and brain fog started to slowly improve only now .Read More Read Less

I’ve had issues sleeping my whole life. Quiviviq 50’changed that. My dr explained that you have to take it every night and have good sleep habits because it won’t knock you out like Ambien. I slept like a baby and was totally awake the next morning.
