I have my 4 shots of Vaccines, 3 Modernas and one Pfizer, with the last one being merely a month ago. I began feeling some cold symptoms last Wednesday but the home test kit showed a negative for Covid. Thursday felt worse, with more intense headache and fever. I tested again and got positive. Both Wed and Thu nights, my throat felt itchy and I did not sleep well. Friday morning saw a family do...

Kidney transplant recipient. Experienced body aches, low fever, mild/non-productive cough, and fatigue. Prescribed Paxlovid on testing positive for COVID-19. The morning after the first dose I experience the metallic taste but body aches seemed better. The taste caused loss of appetite and I was nauseated. By the second dose, I began vomiting. I could not hold down anything. I stopped after day t...

Started on day three and symptoms improved after 3 doses. Had blurry vision 3 times that lasted about 5 minutes. Had a headache and GI issues and the putrid taste in my mouth. It is really constant gross.I did find that peppermint Canada/Rita mints helped. Just needed to keep one in my mouth all the time. Cinnamon hot tamales helped as well.

Symptoms started with strep throat feeling on Day 1 and turned to upper respiratory / difficulty breathing by Day 2. Started Paxlovid on Day 3 when I was considering going to hospital if difficulty breathing worsened. I started feeling better within 3-4 hours of first dose. After 2 full days on Paxlovid, fever and most symptoms subsided, but I still have a subtle upper respiratory infection feeling and dry cough when I lay down. The only side effect I've noticed from Paxlovid is what many have described as a metallic taste in mouth (I agree with the guy who said it's like sucking on an aspirin), but it only appeared when the medication started to wear off and it was time to take the 2nd daily dose. For me, the taste is completely tolerable and way better than having bad Covid symptoms.Read More Read Less

The 5 days I took this pill were excellent -symptoms minimal & had energy. Then on Day 10 all my COVID symptoms came back - had no idea how intense the rebound would be. Would not take again if I had the chance.

I started taking this medication on day four, two days after positive test. I had extreme chills, brain fog, severe head congestion with pressure headache, sore throat, earache and productive cough. I started using it and the next day I felt tremendously better. Granted I was put on Paxlovid, a high dose of Sudafed, Flonase and a cough syrup so it wasn’t only the Paxlovid doing the work. I have no underlying health conditions except I’m considered mildly obese. The only things I don’t like about these pills are the size of the pills (big but manageable) and the taste. The taste is similar to chewing on vitamins. It’s tolerable but it wakes me up at night. I’m hoping the side effect goes away after the completion of the pills. I have three days left though but I’m hopeful Read More Read Less

I tested positive for Covid and started Paxlovid the following day due to an extremely sore throat that kept me from being able to swallow. After the first dose I developed a strong metallic taste in my mouth. Nothing I have tried has helped. All solid foods make it worse. I can tolerate liquids better. I have lost my taste and have no appetite at all. If my sore throat hadn't improved I probably wouldn't keep taking this medicine as the side effect makes my stomach hurt.

I am 70 year old male, Vaccinated x2, Boosted x1. Diabetic for 30 years. It started with sore throat, body aches, fever and light chills. Tested immediately and came positive for Covid. Doctor started Paxlovid treatment the same day. By third day symptoms are gone and no fever. Of course, bad taste in mouth from the day one. Today is my fourth day of Paxlovid treatment and totally normal except for bad taste in mouth. Even with bad taste in the mouth, certainly Paxlovid helped quickly help!

The taste is horrible, I saw someone compare to stomach bile and that’s exactly what it taste like. I started having symptoms on a Thursday with a runny nose and severe bodyaches and fatigue. My first dose of Paxlovid was on Friday, and by Saturday morning almost all of my symptoms were gone and I did not even feel sick anymore. I am vaccinated and boosted. I have a slight cough, and have felt nauseated off and on but not unbearable I have taken ibuprofen and had lots of fluids and sprayed and it has helped, but overall no wheezing and my lungs have kept clear. I am very pleased, but the aftertaste is awful.Read More Read Less

Was given this, as I am immunosuppressed. I had the awful metallic taste, as well. It also caused bloating and gas, as well as some stomach cramping. I also continued to have headaches, so not sure if it was the culprit or not. I stopped taking it after 3-1/2 days due to the GI and headache issues.

Had a few hours of relief from feeling sick, but the taste is disgusting and never went away in nearly 4 days I took it. No more. Mornings was very nauseated. Tried to eat something to feel better - lost it all. Ugh. Never take this stuff again!

Tested positive for COVID 3 days ago. Started Paxlovid the first evening. First does went well with some improvement and little side effect. Second full dose showed continued improvement of virus but I had a noticeable loss of taste and smell and a lingering taste of old grapefruit. I quickly learned that anything vinegar based like ketchup, pickle, etc., are a definite no go. No gastric issues yet probably because I’m eating less and sleeping more.

I felt better within 1 treatment. I have an autoimmune disorder and was on a fast track to the hospital. This treatment saved me the hassle and recovery time was almost immediate. The only down side was the awful taste. Which they reported only 6% of the people experience. Just from the response on this board, I think that number is much higher. Tried everything, strawberry like someone posted, ginger, cola, hot green tea, black tea, coffee, vinegar, and as soon as the taste of the food leaves your mouth the chemical taste comes right back. It fades away right about the time you need your next treatment.Read More Read Less

This immediately left an almost unbearable gross metallic taste in my mouth snd I am only on day 1. Not sure I can continue if I can’t find something to put in my mouth to counter the taste that is close to making me nauseous. I presented with mild sinus infection like symptoms and was prescribed paxlovir within 3 days of symptoms.

I am on the fence about this covid treatment. Despite FOUR Pfizer vaccines, the most recent two weeks beforehand, and all precautions including wearing KN95 masks in public, I noticed a scratchy throat one evening and later woke up feeling something coming on. Took a test, it was positive. Day 1 my head felt like a basketball ready to explode. A low fever. Day 2 some congestion, very sore throat and glands in neck ached. Mild fever. I Phoned the doctor about getting the meds due to my age only, no other underlying conditions. I am an otherwise active and fit 66 year old. Day 3 my nose started running non stop, congestion, very sore throat. Started the Paxlovid, seeing I wasnt overly improving. The illness seemed to get worse, then improve, then get worse again. Noticed the metallic taste, but it was tolerable. Food and mouthwash help to alleviate it. Day 4 continuing runny nose, sore throat, some congestion, but no fever. Day 5 woke up feeling stuffy, sore ear, still congested, but no fever. A periodic runny nose, still a sore throat but milder. This was the third day of taking paxlovid and when the diarrhea started. It happens about 2 hours after taking the pills. I will finish the next two days of pills unless anything untoward develops. But not really sure the pills made a dramatic difference, vs letting the disease run its course. I see in the news now that the drug apparently doesn't help much for younger, and otherwise low risk patients. (Also disappointed in the vaccine performance, although I do realize without them, this disease could have been much, much worse.) Read More Read Less

59 year old female. Vac + 1 booster. No underlying health conditions. This medicine was a game changer for my husband when he tested positive for Covid. My experience was much different. I’ve taken Paxlovid for 4 days. I am dizzy and light headed. The taste in my mouth is disgusting but I could handle it if I didn’t have the dizziness. Yesterday I felt like my heart was racing. I did not attribute it to this med at the time. I’m not taking the last day doseage. I also have not experienced the “turn around” my husband did and I’m the healthy one of the two of us. Side effects not worth it for me. Read More Read Less

Paxlovid appeared to be very effective in shortening the duration and severity of Covid symptoms for both my husband and myself. We were both moderately sick, started Paxlovid within 24-48 hours and all symptoms were gone in 2 days. The extreme bitter metallic taste in my mouth for the 5 day duration is the only negative. It has been horrible! My husband did not experience this side effect.

I tested positive for COVID on Wednesday after experiencing severe headache, conjunctivitis, fever and sore throat. My Dr. prescribed Paxlovid same day I was positive. Since then I have completed two full days of medication. My symptoms have become less severe, but the taste in my mouth is almost unbearable. It is a metallic taste mixed with flavor of chewing pills. Nothing I’ve tried (candy, water, mouthwash, fruit, spicy foods, ect….has helped. However, since medication seems to be significantly helping my symptoms of COVID, I’m willing to keep taking the medicine, even with the horrible taste in mouth. Trying to stay upbeat and optimistic since only 3 days left of taking the med and getting the evil taste out of my mouth.Read More Read Less

I have felt better while taking this medication. I am currently taking twice a day, but after taking it has only helped make me feel a little better for 2-3 hours after each time taking, which is better than being horribly sick the entire day. The meds leave a horrible taste in your mouth that does not go away. I’ve tried brushing, using mouthwash, and the only thing that helps with the taste a little is chewing cinnamon gum.
