Allergic to most A/B's? This med was ordered for me by a consulting Infectious Disease MD while I was in the hospital trying to fight cellulitis despite my myriad of allergies to most classes of A/B's. Though I had to stop taking my allergy medication due to it's decongestant, as well as abrubtly discontinue two antidepressants (SSRI's), and then fret over every single thing I ate and drank (thus ...

This med was prescribed for me after I developed a vancomycin rash after being on IV Vanco for several weeks. I was being treated for a staph aureus infection contracted after back surgery. The infection went into my three joint replacements. Zyvox caused sleeplessness and extreme tiredness and some diarrhea. The sleeplessness was the most difficult side effect, the tiredness being a result of that as well as a side effect of the drug. Headaches were also a problem.

Praise God for this Med! I've been hospitolized 4 times for skin infections that could not be treated. Each time to the Dr I was prescribed Bactrum DS for my symptoms. Bleach and Bleach containing products cause chemical burns to my skin. These burns get this infection and I have been hospitolized 4 times for these infections. Have had two skin graph surgeries within a 2 year period due to infection and skin detioration associated with infection. Cultures never grew and Dr's were puzzeled. They threw every IV anti-biotic in the pharmacy arsonel at me and this one seems to be working. Although expensive ($1800.00 for 20 pills), I believe I'll be able to rid my body of this horrible bacteria.Read More Read Less

I found Zyvox to be a very good antibiotic, with few side effects. After the first two doses, I had awful burning in my stomach, but that didn't last long. I couldn't take my meds for osteoarthritis, while on Zyvox, because it seemed to irritate my stomach. Zyvox allowed me to return home to my family after a 7 day stay in the hospital, where I was on Rocephin and Vencomycin, to treat MRSA. Zyvox is very expensive when you have to pay out of pocket, but it is not nearly as expensive as staying in the hospital 10 more days. Read More Read Less

Treatment resulted in severe side effects: sore throat, dry mouth, cracking of lips in corners, itching in groin, tenderness/ tingling of tongue; discontinued medication after 12 of 21 days, and most side effects cleared up, lingering side effects after three months.

I was on this medicine for eight days in the hospital where it was given in my IV then for seven days at home pill form. I took Phentermine about 15 to 20 minutes after I took the Zyvox because it made me very sick to my stomache. The only other problems I had was I had rashes on my body. My overall experience was good. Very much worth the 89.00 per pill and itchy rashes.

I have been diagnosed with a staph infection on my forearm which I believe I got from scaping a metal grating while working with it. I have been taking Zyvox for four days but my condition does not seem t be improving. I am to see my doctor tomorrow. How long does it take for the medicine to take affect? I was given an antibiotic intravenously three days ago but don't know what was.

Taking drug due to infection after major oral surgery. Thank goodness for insurance drug is $1,800 for a 10 day supply. Still having issues but at least the "cure" wasn't worse than the disease.

This medication was prescribed after a colon re-section that caused a perferation in the colon wall and ultimately an infection in the chest cavity as evidenced by CT Scans and increased white cell count!! The Zyvox, besides being outrageously expensive, is administered for 10 days, 600mg x 2 a day. As of tomorrow, it's been a week since my discharge and I'm feeling weak, nauseated, vomiting, diarrhea and I'm not sure if this is normal, but I'm feeling the same as I did before I was re-admitted last week. Can you help me?Read More Read Less
