I read the reviews and was terrified. However, I did notice that the positive reviews were coming from young adult women with treatment resistance. I have Bipolar 1 and I was super nervous this med would make me manic. I am still in the first week, however I just feel uplifted and not manic at all. I am Black Latina 25 female. PTSD, Bipolar, ADHD. 200lbs. I take the med at night because it d...

I’m a high school student and on the one hand it helped to greatly improve my grades and ability to focus and be productive, but it was NOT worth it. The first big thing was I had even more trouble sleeping (even on nights where I wasn’t up late working) and it only got worse. I would feel incredibly useless whenever I couldn’t be productive and it seemed like anything I found enjoyable was sudden...

I've been newly diagnosed with ADHD at 30 years old. I have been on Qelbree for 2.5 weeks and it has been a disaster. I already had insomnia but this has made it worse. Now I can't stay asleep and when I wake up in the middle of the night, it takes me hours to go back to sleep even with being on sleeping meds. I have crazy vivid dreams when I do sleep that are disruptive. My stomach is bloated and painful. I am very irritable also and easily triggered. Overall, being on this medication has been a horrible experience.Read More Read Less

I'm 25 years old, I tried using this instead of Adderall. I started taking 1 pill a day and was supposed to move to 2 pills after one week. Within the first week I had extreme nausea, fear in the middle of the night and dark thoughts. It didn't help my adhd symptoms. I stopped taking it after seven days and had migraines that lasted a full week.

No improvement in symptoms. Extremely hard on GI tract with incapacitating constipation and nausea almost immediately after starting this medication. Two side effects I experienced that I do not see mentioned are vivid nightmares and blurred vision. Overall very upset with my experience and would strongly recommend no one take this medication. Nothing but side effects.

My son, who was seven when prescribed Quelbree during the Adderall shortage, simply did not respond to the medication. His impulsive behavior and hyperactivity was far worse than it has ever been. Now, as a result of an injury (black eye) and resulting sensory meltdown, I am facing false criminal charges of child abuse because a vindictive and terribly biased CPS social worker refuses to investigate that my son’s extensive history with ADHD causes his meltdown. I have two other children- including a newborn baby- who were taken from me as a result of the false abuse claims. And all because Qelbree DOES NOT WORK!! It made my son super tired, to the point he cannot function, or it did nothing to nip his hyperactivity. My son was also incapable of following any directions, or attending to any tasks of any kind. I would say this medication made his ADHD and sensory processing disorder symptoms WORSE!! Read More Read Less

I am 51 years old and was just diagnosed with ADHD after a lifetime of struggling with attention, procrastination and anxiety. My doctor started me on 200 mg of Qelbree. Within three days of starting it, I was having suicidal thoughts— something I’ve never experienced in my life. I started fantasizing about how my problems could all be solved if I would just die. And then I started thinking about how I could make it happen. This was the worst, most terrifying experience with a medication I’ve ever had. I stopped taking it (obviously) and felt normal again within two days. Please be VERY careful if you or someone you love is starting on this med. I believe suicidal ideation is a rare side effect but you don’t want to be the one to experience it.Read More Read Less

I have ADHD inattentive and I tried this med as a non-stimulant option -- I take short-term Adderall as needed for school (I'm in college) and I wanted to see if I could get something with fewer negative side effects. This was absolutely not that. I already have various mental health issues (depression, anxiety, OCD, bulimia nervosa) and this medication, at the baseline dose of 200 mg, made me feel nothing short of Crazy with capital C for the two weeks I was taking it. I was having intense mood swings between depression and what I can only describe as hypomania, crying hysterically at nothing, hyperfixating heavily on my weight and flipping between binging and starving, my intrusive thoughts were worse, and I was having serious suicidal ideation and thoughts of harming myself for the first time in years. Other side effects that were less damaging but still truly awful were intense fatigue during the day followed by insomnia at night, a complete loss of appetite, and general irritability and shortness with people. Along with this, I did not feel more focused or present in the slightest. This may be a result of how briefly I was on it, but I truly could not stand to stay on Qelbree for the sake of my mental, emotional, and physical well-being. I caution you on this medication. All bodies and brains are different, and you might not experience the side effects I did, and it might work great for you! It seems to be working well for lots of people. However, I recommend having someone who knows you extremely well monitor your mood and behavior, as these more psychological symptoms can often feel (and did for me) "correct" in the moment. When you're experiencing a mental break, you often lose the context of your healthy mindset. This can make you feel as though this highly disturbed and incongruent state of mind is not only how you're supposed to feel, but how you always feel. If I hadn't been spending so much time with my family at the time I likely wouldn't have recognized the (extremely stark) difference in my mental stability. Be careful. Seriously. These things can go sideways really fast.Read More Read Less

PTSD, Bipolar, ADHD. 200lbs. I take the med at night because it does make me tired initially. I also struggle with sleep but taking 300mg Seroquel ER and Qelbree seems to helps me sleep nice. I also notice that i immediately wake up refreshed in the morning. Normally with just Seroquel I snooze my alarm 30 times. I did experience dry mouth the first few days, but honestly I'm happy because it increases my water intake. I am in law school and I struggle so hard with reading hundreds of pages a day because i can't focus. Qelbree has allowed me to spend 3-7 hours just working. Unfortunately it doesn't make my work more fun, however I notice a huge difference in my ability to sit down and focus on one task. I hope this medication has lasting effects as being bipolar Drs don't care that I have ADHD. Qelbree has been a true life saver. Read More Read Less

This drug, started at 50 mg & titrated up to 600 mg per day, didn’t help my ADD & exacerbated depression terribly. I also lost significant energy, couldn’t sleep. Monitor yourself closely. Be well!

I’m a 49 year old female finally seeking treatment for diagnosed ADD. Started Ritalin QR and realized pretty quickly that particular stimulant was not right for me. My Dr suggested Qelbree and I was very hopeful I would feel the benefits. It has been the worst 9 days I can recall… worse than my Ritalin experience. My symptoms include headache, stomach upset, chills, runny nose, constipation, heartburn (which I never had before) and worse than anything… severe fatigue. I have been napping for several hours each day when I’m supposed to be working. It’s absolutely unavoidable, as the tiredness is all consuming. It has done nothing to help my ADD symptoms and has generally made me feel physically and emotionally horrible. My hope was that I would adjust and my symptoms would go away. They only continue to get worse. I’m calling my Dr tomorrow and figuring out the best way to stop taking this disaster of a drug (taper off vs cold turkey). I can’t handle one more day on this stuff!! Starting to wonder if I’ll ever find a medication that’ll work for me. Maybe I’m destined to just “deal” with my ADD, as I have for so many years. If you are considering this drug, proceed with EXTREME CAUTION. Read More Read Less

Severe depression and suicidal ideation. Can’t say what I might have done had I not stopped taking this. I am a 37 yr-old woman and was never assessed for ADHD as a child, so I am about 2 years into full time medication management. WAS using Straterra/Atomoxetine and had gone up to 40mg. Seemed focus was still not where I’d have liked it to be and I was concerned about the possibility of tremors (ET symptoms) being set off, so I gave Qelbree a try… 100mg of Qelbree to start after coming down off the Atomoxetine at 18mg. Very quickly found myself in a severely frightening depression and restless anxiety. Skin issues became much worse, lost appetite. Did not notice GI issues, although I did get some acid reflux. Poor digestion probably. 0 motivation to eat, and I was increasing activities in hope of fighting the depression to little effect. The suicidal thoughts were at a point that had I NOT decided it was time to stop trying this med I may not have been here to write this review. Two days ago I went back on Atomoxatine at 10mg together with the 100 mg Qelbree, and I am immediately able to focus again. I stopped taking the Qelbree the next day, and I feel emotionally healthy again. The depression has now lifted, just like that. Pretty scary. I’m very sensitive to meds, but seems my experience is more the norm. It’s very disturbing to me that this new drug is being touted as an exciting new treatment when it is causing severe and acute onset of suicidal ideation, where at least one reviewer I see lost her son to already. I am so sorry for your loss. Please do not hesitate to contact a lawyer in such a case. Also, in cases where parents are reviewing the gains their child is achieving on this or any drug, please take that with a grain of salt. My mother reported I was doing much better on a particular antidepressant some years back, and so I decided to see what she thought of me a few months off it, letting her think I was still taking it. Very telling. I’m sorry to the poor doctor who felt the floor fall out when I revealed this, but what she reported did not align with my experience. Placebo effect essentially. It was a low risk situation for me back then as a hormonal teen, but I understand this is an upsetting thing for a practitioner to hear. If for some reason you want to try this drug, maybe only do it inpatient? Although I’d highly recommend you give it a pass. Straterra/Atomoxatine is great though and I will continue with that so long as it is safe. Read More Read Less

Qelbree is the worst medication I've taken in my life. It's made me disorientated and confused, and I thought of suicide. I've been sick for five days, even after getting off the drug. I would not recommend anybody take this medication. The side effects are off the charts, and the drug has harmful interactions with even supplements.

My 13 yr old son with ADHD and mood disorder has been on concerta/clonidine for about 5 years. We felt concerta might be affecting his mood and making him more grumpy and aggressive so we wanted to try a non stimulant and his pediatrician prescribed qelbree. He has been on 200mg for approximately 3 weeks now and despite a few hiccups the first week, I would say this medication helps him similarly to concerta without the uptight mood swings and aggressiveness. I also like that it isn’t a controlled substance so you can easily order it from the pharmacy and get delivery. Overall I am very happy we changed medications. Read More Read Less

took a while to begin working, felt more like a mood stabilizer than an ADHD med. did what it promised, but left me feeling flat. made me feel zombielike, similar to lithium. gave me incredibly vivid dreams, lucid dreams, and sleep paralysis. worsened depression and increased restlessness.

I love this medication! I had awful anxiety on stimulant medication and now I can easily do all my school work and don't forget things almost ever! From what I've read from other comments it seems like this medication mainly works for girls with ADHD which I am one of! It made me sleepy for the first few days and it causes headaches if you forget it but on the medication I find that I almost always remember to take it! It won't work for everyone but it most definitely works for me!

My 12 yr old son has Autism and we tried this to help with his impulsivity and behavior issues. We had tried stimulants first but he had daily rebound so we went with Qelbree. Within 3 days of taking the meds, he stopped sleeping, went thru mania to extremely upset and self harming (which he has never done before). He was so tired but couldnt sleep, cried all the time. We ending it after 8 days because he was 1000 times worse than the cute loveable happy boy he was. I researched for others with Autism to see if this was common, but I couldnt see any reviews for Autism/ADHD. It wasn't a winner, sooooo bad. At least with the stimulant he was good until the rebound.Read More Read Less
