We are on week 2 and recently increased to 200mg. Qelbree has been like night and day for our inattentive ADD 11 year old girl. Her focus and attention have significantly improved she is getting 100's in school and improving in her swimming practices, now leading in her lane understanding technique a whole lot better! So far we love these positive results praying that it stays the same long term. ...

I’m a high school student and on the one hand it helped to greatly improve my grades and ability to focus and be productive, but it was NOT worth it. The first big thing was I had even more trouble sleeping (even on nights where I wasn’t up late working) and it only got worse. I would feel incredibly useless whenever I couldn’t be productive and it seemed like anything I found enjoyable was sudden...

I was prescribed this non stimulant after some health issues related to stimulant meds. I’d been off of ADHD meds for 5 years when prescribed qelbree. Also, just wanted to note that my ADHD is the inattentive type. I am 3 weeks into this med and feel like it’s barely done anything positive for my focus, but only made my constipation worse AND is wreaking havoc on my sleep. I already have a hard time sleeping. I take this early enough in the morning that it shouldn’t affect my sleep. But it does. Turned me into a light sleeper who can hear EVERYTHING. So then I toss and turn more. I also feel like it makes my legs and feet restless. The final straw came last night. Note that I take this med at 7 AM. My job is a caregiver where I transfer a handicap patient to and from the restroom and her chair & bed and chair. So, once in a blue moon, I’ll need a muscle relaxer. I took one at 10:00 PM. In the middle of the night, I got out of bed to pee. I felt like I was in the middle of the ocean! The worst dizziness ever. Almost had to crawl to get to and from the bathroom and my bed. Cue another 4 hours later, I get up to get ready to drive my daughter to school and again was hit with severe dizziness. I do NOT experience this with my occasional muscle relaxer prior to taking the qelbree. It’s incapacitating. And the fact that I took the meds 15 hours apart just boggles me that it would negatively impact me. The good: on day two I was able to take initiative on some Spring cleaning of the house and actually focus. The bad: everything else. The focus didn’t get better the longer I took this med. I feel like it peaked within the first week, but then just stopped. Instead I was left with side effects that weren’t worth the fleeting moments of focus. Now I’m fearing these withdrawal migraines I’ve been reading about here!Read More Read Less

I kept waking up in the middle of the night for the first few nights. No side effects for me other than that, but it doesn't help with my adhd symptoms at all really.

Thanks for sharing and here I thought or still am dying here! This board has helped me. I use to take vyvanse for my ADD. I am 53 female, I stopped vyvanse because I got a generic brand and it landed me in he hospital with blood pressure over 210/190. Scared the hell out of me. They had to give me ativan to calm me down and a dose of blood pressure medicine. No more vyvanse no more high blood pressure but still have the ADD. It's been hell to get vyvanse around here so my doctor switched me to Qelbree. After day one and I continued to day 7 and I experienced, restless leg syndrome at night, extreme tiredness during the day. I started my period after two weeks of just getting done with my previous period, nauseous all the time, no appetite, nothing looked good to me but I did crave something salty, head aches, I would go t bed at my normal hour wake up at 2am with my mind racing and could not go back to sleep. My brain was focused but I felt nothing. Almost as if I was just going through life with no emotions. I was dizzy all the time. I am off as of day 2 and that's how I landed here to see if I could still be experiencing dizziness. thank you for everyone sharing your story.Read More Read Less

Meds are not covered by insurance and cost over 500 and take 2-3 months before can be sure if works. There discounts card covers almost nothing on this med-card is a lie. Do not use with kids.

100mg once per day for a month. 50 years old, severe adhd. Virtually no improvement. None of the side effects as others have mentioned except slight drowsiness the first couple of weeks. Expensive and pointless. I’m assuming it’s just another cash cow for big pharma.

My NP prescribed it to me to use while I waited for my months-out appointment with my doctor to be put back on Vyvanse. She was hoping it'd help with my mood and persistent fatigue and ADD, but it did the exact opposite. It makes me feel extremely tired while also making it very difficult to actually fall asleep. I can go to sleep after hours of trying, but it's a very light non-restful sleep where I'll wake up to the slightest noise. It's also ridiculously expensive.

The sheer cost is insane and so if anything makes my adhd worse with anxiety over the price. It's over 350 dollars for a 30 day supply. Its not as effective as Straterra but it it definitely didn't give me the stomach issues I had with Straterra

My 9 year old son is currently on 200 mg. The first week was an adjustment and his sleep was impacted. Since then, however, we really haven't noticed any side effects. His focus has improved significantly and his grades, handwriting and school work show it. His teacher and I are very pleased with his ability to now complete assignments and show what he knows. He now has all A's. His impulsivity, hyperactivity and emotional regulation have not improved much, however. He is weepy at times but it is hard to tell if that is related to the medication or because he is almost a preteen. We have 504 plan accommodations and biweekly counseling in place to help, but it's still a big struggle. We are planning to meet with his doctor to discuss a increase in medication or perhaps a change. I am very grateful for the improved focus and his academic success. At least we have one big positive!Read More Read Less

My son who is 14 has been on ADHD medicine since he was 6 years old. I never wanted him on medicine but the school made that quite the battle and it’s been an emotional rollercoaster for years. Even my son’s doctor said they have literally tried nearly every ADHD medicine on him and nothing has worked effectively without side effects. After discussions regarding his anxiety and impulsive behaviors, the doctor suggested Qelbree but had never written a prescription for it. When I went to the pharmacy, the pharmacist had never dispensed it either, making me terrified. So I went on the read reviews that scared me too! However one day my son said “Mama I want to try the medicine”, I was shocked. The results so far have been amazing. The very first day I got calls and emails from the school about how amazing he did, and I continue to get positive calls. My son says it don’t make him feel different which he loves, he’s had no appetite decrease except maybe for the first couple days. He also was very tired for the first couple weeks, but that subsided. There’s no side effects for the last month and he’s happy, we’re all happy! My friend who’s a doctor instilled some peace of mind when she told me that it leaves the body quickly, so if he don’t take it for 24 hours, it’s gone. So if he had any reactions, he just doesn’t need to take it and after 24 hours it would be out of his system. That helped make me feel better. I have nothing bad to say, I’m honestly shocked after many years of unsuccessful attempts at medicine. Read More Read Less

After a week of one pill 200mg pill a day I doubled to 2 a day per the nurse practitioner’s order. It did initially help with my mood and my focus and effort towards the things I needed to accomplish were better as well. Those initial results were diluted overtime however by my inability to sleep a full night, usually waking at 3 or 4 in the morning, and insatiable dry mouth. Afternoon headaches accompanied by drowsiness are often common. After a full month I stopped taking as it said there are no withdrawal symptom. That is not true for me however. The next day was fine other than an afternoon headache. By the next morning that headache was an intense migraine that lasted all day. It wasn’t until I took a half dose (1 200mg pill) that I felt better. Read More Read Less

I’m a high school student and on the one hand it helped to greatly improve my grades and ability to focus and be productive, but it was NOT worth it. The first big thing was I had even more trouble sleeping (even on nights where I wasn’t up late working) and it only got worse. I would feel incredibly useless whenever I couldn’t be productive and it seemed like anything I found enjoyable was suddenly classified as “unproductive” in my brain. My grades in classes I hated went up but my lowest grade became history of music(one of my favorite classes). All of these things I used to enjoy so much felt... off-limits. I couldn’t go down rabbit holes like I normally do. (I’m on the spectrum as well as having ADHD and it felt like I had to justify doing the things I loved by convincing myself it was useful…) I was as usual frequently overwhelmed but I was now getting suicidal thoughts whenever I didn’t do great at anything… and then really just all the time. But I didn’t tell my parents it was suicidal thoughts only that I was miserable and they were like “But your grades are so good.” and I know that’s important for my future as annoying as it is… but I was having increasing trouble imagining a future for myself at all especially one I actually wanted. For so long I used to give myself my meds and.. since the attempt they’ve locked up my meds cabinet and not let me be the one to give myself my meds which makes me feel like a small child again in the worst way… I But I’m finally going down on Qelbree and we’re going to put me back on Strattera instead. I’m already feeling better. And NOW I find out it has a BLACK BOX WARNING for guess what? Suicidal thoughtsRead More Read Less

As a lot of others have shared, this medication has some very dangerous side effects. I took it for a month and experienced manic episodes, suicidal thoughts, and dark thoughts. I have not felt like myself nor have I acted like myself. On top of that, it didn’t even offer any relief of my adhd symptoms. This drug is dangerous and I really cannot in good conscience recommend anyone take this. If your doctor is trying to prescribe you this, say no. It isn’t worth the risk.

Oof. This medication was terrible for me. I did not experience the side effects that many have suggested here, but rather felt like my brain had plaster poured into it. I could not think. I could not solve the most basic problems. It was all so overwhelming and 10x more difficult than before I took it. My Systolic bp went through the roof and my heartrate dropped to the low 40's. My diastolic HR also dropped considerably. I only took it for 2 days and had enough. Not for me! This medicine does things that I don't want done to my body or brain.Read More Read Less

Just wanted to throw this out there because it seems so weird. Today is only the third day I've taken my 100mg. dose, but today I felt an energy and enthusiasm I haven't felt for quite some time, without any of the side effects I see reported. So far so good. The odd thing is that this evening, about four hours after I took only my third dose, my presbyopia seems to have improved. You know, the stiffening of the cornea that almost universally occurs in middle age, where your eye muscles can no longer fully adjust the focal length of your vision, so you need multi-focal lenses or a bunch of different glasses (like I have) to get good focus from reading to driving distances. For about the last 10 years, I have found that my "computer distance" glasses are good enough for about 90% of the conditions I encounter. In full daylight, I find that these are for all practical purposes functionally identical to my "driving/distance" glasses. It's a whole different ballgame under low-light conditions, where my actual Driving glasses are critical. So here I sit, wearing my Computer glasses while constantly switching my focus from a desktop monitor at 2-3' distance to a 55" TV at 12-15' and finding that these glasses are giving me essentially perfect vision at both. My astigmatism is still there, but my myopia (near-sightedness) is not. If I take off these glasses, I'm still legally blind and can't focus on anything farther than about eight inches away. I can read perfectly well at that distance, but my ability to drive is pretty much gone. Anyone care to speculate? Read More Read Less

I am a 79 year old woman and have had undiagnosed ADHD for much of my life—being a very restless child and adult. My younger family members have ADHD and got treatment but I just coped with it. I sought treatment for personal reasons recently and was diagnosed with ADHD. A low dose of Qelbree was prescribed. I became more agitated and restless. I felt “revved up,” as if a motor was running faster in my body. It was also difficult to sleep. My doctor discontinued the medication. After one day, withdrawal symptoms kicked in—bad headaches, being much more emotional, nausea and deep chills. I’m in day three of withdrawal and somewhat better but still dealing with headaches and chills. This is strong stuff! Read More Read Less

Managed 2 days of it. The first day was great for focus and restlessness. Had some racing heart and lightheaded when standing. Could not sleep at all. Vivid dreams and tossing/turning all night. Day 2 felt like a zombie. Very tired, sight racing heart. Again, restlessness improved but couldn’t eat and was a bit irritable. Couldn’t sleep again. By 3rd day (did not take the pill 200mg) constipation started. Also started with nausea and cold sweats and very short temper. Is this because I’m so exhausted or from the meds? The slight improvement isn’t worth this discomfort for me. Read More Read Less
