So I have only been using Winlevi for 2 weeks now, but my face has gotten significantly worse. I am hoping this is a situation where “it gets worse before it gets better” like Tretinoin.

At 47, I have had acne since hitting puberty at age 11. At this age, it is clearly hormone driven cystic acne that I get along my jaw line, around my nose and forehead and they are typically large, painful, and take a very long time to clear up. I have an elevated risk for breast cancer so I am would prefer to not take anything hormone based. Spironolactone had side effects that I did not like so ...

This prescription cream should be taken off the market. First reason is the base they use to make the cream is so thick and greasy, which seems counterproductive for an acne medication. Secondly the side affects are way worse than acne itself, they are horrendous . Side Affects : Adrenal insufficiency hyperkalemia irregular periods amenorrhea, polycystic ovaries excessive hair growth in unwanted areas. Stinging or burning Swelling Stretch marks Spider veins or thin, red lines on skin Thinning of skin No menstrual cycles Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur: More common Darkening of the skin diarrhea faintness, especially after missing meals irritability itching or redness at the application site (severe) loss of appetite nausea raised, dark red, wart-like spots on skin, especially when used on the face reddish purple lines on arms, face, legs, trunk, or groin unusual tiredness or weakness vomiting Rare Dryness, discoloration, pain, or swelling at the application site skin rash, hives, itching, or redness Read More Read Less

I know that it says it takes 3 months to work, but it has only made my acne 10x worse. I’m having different types of acne I didn’t even have before. I put it on my neck because I had some acne here and there sometimes and now I’m breaking out like crazy wherever I put it. I put it on my back and now my back has broken out. I’m having cystic acne, whiteheads, black heads, I’m having it ALL. Idk if I should just keep trying or drop it completely because at this point it’s just causing scars. $75 down the drain so far. Seems to have worked but possibly caused diarrhea. My history includes c.Diff caused by Clindamycin, so I google any antibiotic before taking it. Drug.com is the only site that lists diarrhea as a possible side effect. I’d welcome information, since the product seemed to work well and quickly.

I got this for facial hair. I have been taking this for month and I don’t really notice any change in my chin hair. It hasn’t helped a lot with my oily face either. But at least there hasn’t been any negative side effects either.

Dermatologist prescribed Winlevi + Twneo 3 months ago. I followed instructions for twice a day use am/pm. I have no significant change in hormonal acne. Very disappointed and very expensive

It helped my hormonal acne go away and it worked really well and fast at first! Within days my skin was clear, the best it had been in ages! But, the product really clogged my pores and after a few weeks the acne resurfaced in new locations like my nose, forehead, and chin, I had a lot of blackheads and clogged pores. I would recommend if you have really painful hormonal acne but if the clogged pores really bother you I would have a backup plan (I took axone after stopping winlevi).

Burned when applied and so thick. Very difficult to blend in easily. Then having a teen male use twice daily to be beneficial is inconvenient. Especially when this isn’t a mono therapy. Tried this product for 2-3 weeks made acne flare up and skin looked worse. After stopping and only using low strength tretinoin skin now looks amazing! This product is horrible, wouldn’t recommend using.

For some reason Winlevi gave me horrible insomnia. I've been off the medication for several months and my sleep went back to normal immediately after I discontinued it. I'm enjoying my sleep now, plus it did nothing to improve my (mild) acne, however I seem to have low testosterone so I doubt I was a good candidate for it in the first place. Tret has done far more for my skin.

It's been almost three months since I began using it and I'm experiencing painful cysts on the sides of my cheek. I'm extremely disappointed because my skin was less congested before I began this treatment.

This product absolutely destroyed my skin. It has been months of not using it and my acne is significantly worse and more painful STILL. While using, it burned like hell and I had red lines on my face for weeks because it burned my skin so bad. It made my skin extremely flaky and dry and has permanently damaged my skin.

It's been about a year and I still get the same acne every month in the same spots. I also have a lot of facial hair growth and it did not help with that even though I read that it should. I am also an avid Tretinoin user. Honestly I am disappointed this does not work for me and I wish I could find a topical that does the trick. Read More Read Less

My hormonal acne comes out in the form of whiteheads on my chin. If I attempt to extract them they will turn into large pimples. I was already on Tretinoin and Amlactin, but was still struggling with these stubborn whiteheads. I was prescribed Winlevi and at first I saw no improvement. I was alternating between the Tretinoin and Winlevi at night. I decided to try using them both everyday, so now I use the Winlevi in the morning and Tretinoin at night. My skin has made a drastic turn for the better. I have never seen my skin look this good. However, I accidentally skipped the Winlevi for a couple days (maybe 3 or 4?) and ended up with 2 large unpoppable pimples. I'm guessing if you plan to come off the medication you would need to taper off, but in the meantime you better believe I will not be missing any more doses!Read More Read Less

I’ve been on Winlevi for 18 months. I saw some improvement after six months, but I still got cystic acne periodically. At nine months, my skin worsened again. After a full year, my skin has been really great. Even if I sweat, I haven’t noticed cystic breakouts or issues. I believe it can take some people a full year to see results and ups and downs before it takes full effect, so hang in there if you’re only giving it a few months and see worsening skin before it improves. I haven’t tried Accutane but have been on about every other oral medication and topical drug on the market!Read More Read Less

I’ve been suffering from severe hormonal acne for the last 4 months and visited my dermatologist and she prescribed Winlevi. This product made my skin worse. Big painful zits came out all over and left awful scares.I tried to be patient and wait for results. After 3 months of worsening I gave up. I’ve asked around and some people didn’t see results until after 12 months. I don’t wanna suffer that long. So I went back to tretinoin.

I have had acne since I was 10 years old. I have tried accutane, every topical out there and every oral antibiotic. I am 37 and thought I would be dealing with this forever. I began Winlevi after my dermatologist refused to prescribe me spironolactone. I’m the beginning I saw small improvements but was still getting cystic acne. It wasn’t until about month 3, that my skin completely cleared up! It is also less oily! This has been a godsend. My only gripe is that insurance doesn’t cover it yet, so I’ve been paying $90 a month out of pocket with a coupon. Read More Read Less

History: I started getting acne at age 18. At age 19, went through 1 round of accutane, cleared around week 7, stayed clear for 2 months, then acne returned. Went through round 2 with same results. Next as a treatment I went on birth control at age 21. Acne cleared … for years. Age 48 - off birth control and acne starts returning. Dermatologist prescribed spironolactone. Acne clears completely in 6 weeks. (25 mg 2x a day). Winlevi: (Age 49) Then Winlevi became available. Dermatologist thought I was a great candidate. Switched off spironolactone completely to winlevi. (Had a completely clear face at the time due to spironolactone.) Did fine on Winlevi for 6 weeks, then very large, painful, unpoppable bumps formed on neck, jawline, chin, creeped up along sides of face and hairline. Cheeks stayed clear (unusual for my breakouts as it’s usually everywhere.) Stayed on winlevi 2 more weeks and things got worse and worse and worse. After 8 weeks stopped winlevi and went back on spironolactone. Now I have to wait 6 weeks for my face to clear on that. Winlevi did not work for me. Wish it did. But Spironolactone does. Thankfully I do not have side effects.Read More Read Less

Honest to God ~ WINLEVI has been by far, the best acne treatment I have ever used and I’ve tried Tazorac, DUAC, Benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, vitamin C and Aczone along with whatever else I’ve forgotten. But nothing has been more effective for me. I love it because it has completely eradicated any acne I had and it is NOT drying at all. All my other acne medications made me peel excessively except Aczone wasn’t drying but the rest were. It’s not just this added benefit but it literally is making my pores smaller due to its anti androgenic effects. And my t-zone used to be so oily and it is becoming not oily. I’ve been using it 5 weeks so far so I am excited to see how it evolves because I believe after 3 months of use - my pores will look significantly smaller and my oil production on t-zone will probably be perfect. Overall this product is God send and I will use it for the rest of my life unless so long as this continues to improve my skin. It’s such a bonus not having dry scaly skin anymore! Thank God for WINLEVI because I didn’t expect to be this impressed. I hope this works for you all as well!Read More Read Less

For the first month or so, it helped. I saw slight improvement. It sort of worked for a couple of months. Now my acne has gotten MUCH worse and i dont think it's working anymore. For how much this costs, it should work longer.

I've been using Winlevi for a year now. While some months, I think my acne is improved, most of the time, my skin is in the exact same condition as it was before I started using Winlevi. I have several painful cystic pimples most days and am still developing new scars. I don't highly recommend this medication for the price.

A few weeks into using this medication, the acne on my chin worsened. By month 2, the cysts and pimples were worse. By month 3, I noticed improvement and now my chin is finally clearing up! I have some breakouts near my nose and will now try Winlevi in those areas.
