I have not experienced any further symptoms of AF since starting Tikosyn. What I have experienced is difficulty getting certain other medical procedures completed because of the medication interaction problems. Dental procedures requiring local anesthetics are not possible since I can not use any of the "cains". Treatments for skin problems that might have steroids in them can not be used as st...

I have been on 500 mg twice a day. No noticed side effects and only one Afib episode in 12 months. It is expensive but worth the quality of life change for me.

Have had many cardioversions plus three ablations in three years-each ablation lasted about six months to one year. Was on Sotolol which worked for about two years but AFIB kept coming back. Been on Tikosyn for about one month and it seems to be working, however my blood pressure has gone from 120/60 to an average of 145-155/60 and have experienced pressure in my lungs but no congestion which may not be related to Tikosyn. Tikosyn appears to act as a mild diuretic with me which I believe leaches Potassium out and causes fatigue, so I take an 8oz. glass of Campbell's LOW SODIUM tomato juice each day which contains 140mg of Sodium but 920mg of Potassium and that generally takes away the fatigue. I work out at a gym every second day and use 16 different machines to exercise all major muscle groups with no AFIB and my blood pressure drops to 110/55 immediately after exercise. Have read about Tikosyn interactions with other drugs and will research them. I also experience tachycardia and some flutter after drinking coffee or eating chocolate-perhaps because of the caffeine. Tikosyn seems to magnify the effects of alcohol and my blood pressure goes up after consumption of alcohol-so I'm off coffee, chocolate and alcohol. Overall I'm satisfied with Tikosyn but only have been on it for a month and my sinus rhythm has been normal except for an occasional skipped beat once-in-a-while. Time will tell. Read More Read Less

Tikosyn kept me out of AF for 10 years UNTIL I was given Zofran in an ER for nausea/vomiting. The Tikosyn and Zofran interacted causing a fatal heart arrhythmia. To make to story short, I experienced a Cardiac Arrest!! I would still be on Tikosyn today if the interaction would not have happened.

I've had A-Fib with and without the Tikosyn medicine. I've been told the medicine reduces my risk of another. I was feeling more than the ususal side effects and discontinued the medicine on my own. I had A-Fib again, and resumed the medicine again by my MD again. I don't know if it was that effective being while I was on the medicine I had A-Fib. Time will now tell again.

I have had trouble sleeping for several years and do get some sleep with ambien, however sice I began taking Tikyson my insomnia has been noticeably worse. One must then weight the benefits of the medication. I have chronic long standing A-Fib, numerous meds have been tried, even cardiac ablation to correct a flutter going on at the same time. The tikyson is working for me to keep me in a paced rythmn. The pacemaker together with other med worked for months, but the Afib just got progressively worse. Bsd side effects, yes, but it works for me now. I would prefer not to take Tikyson, but I think the ablation success rate is pretty slim for somone like myself at age 73. It certainly is not ruled out and i'm hoping for something new to surface that will correct the A-Fib altogether with top success rates. Read More Read Less

I have been using this drug for 8 months and found it to be very effective. No afib! I did notice that I experienced alot of PVCs but they weren't related to Tikosyn, small dose of metoprolol helped with the PVVs. The drug is a pain to get, had to work out ordering it 1 week early with the pharmacy. I had an ablation also bu continue to take the drug.

Very dangerous medication. Doctors, hospitals and Pharmacies must be certified to even order or dispense it. They must be tested and pass an exam to become certified.. Look this medication up and read about it CAREFULLY. Do your homework and be aware of the side effects that could happen. There is a reason a patient must be hospitalized for 3 days while trying this drug. My 'required' 3 day hospital stay turned into a 5 day stay, two were in Intensive Care Unit because I went into lethal form of Ventricular Tach and almost died. I now chose to live with the A Fib. My doctors are fine with that. I have reported the critical event to Pfizer and the FDA. I made sure the Hospital also reported it. Read More Read Less

2006 I had a pacemaker installed.About 5 years ago I had ablation to stop Afib. It seemed to have little effect.I was scheduled for shock to stop Afib. I started taking Tikyson a few days before my hospital date, and when the Dr checked for Afib prior to shocking, I was told everything was normal. NO SHOCK. A couple of minor incidents since then, but bothing major. I'm happy that this is available, but costly.

I am still in sinus rhythm after 6 months from cardioversion & starting Tikosyn. I take so many other meds that it is not possible to say anything about side effects, except I am very dizzy all the time.I was in the hospital 3 days before starting it, with no side effects. Twice ,before starting Tikosyn, I went back into AFib within 1 year. We will see how this works.

Been in a fib for 5 months shocked 5 times. Was put on Tikosyn had to start it in the hospital for 4 days. Then my heart was shocked. Have been in rhythm ever since and feeling great. You have to take it every 12 hours so makes it easy to remember. It is not cheap I'm blessed to have great insurance. So thankful I started this med and if I stay in rhythm for 3 months I will be taken off of it.
