Bipolar - I took this med for one year with no blood testing. I started experiencing mixed symptoms and asked my doctor if my dosage might need to be adjusted. She then decided that my oxcarbazepine level should be checked along with my sodium. I was not even in the therapeutic range, so my dosage was increased. My sodium was only slightly low. A few weeks later my levels were checked again. ...

My daughter 8 yr old daughter has been taking 600mg per day (via suspension) for about a month now for her recent diagnosis of grand mal seizures. Since starting the medication we've seen no furhter incidence of seizure. Side-effects are waning now, yay! At fist she complained of dizziness just after taking it but that went away quickly. She also seemed foggy and slow for the first couple of weeks, but now that is clearing and she's adjusting to schoolwork again. After about two weeks on the meds she developed a rash which may or may not be related to the Trileptal, but she still experiences flushes across her cheeks. It's not uncomfortable or itchy though so we're ignoring it for now.Read More Read Less

switched from phenobarb over a year ago to trileptal....I think it's doing a better job...most seizure meds make you have weird dreams including this one. Bad side effects at first..later my body ajusted.

Ive been on this med for about a week, due to newley diagnosed seizure disorder. I have never feel more foggy and out of it in my life. It makes me so tired, I have mood swings (probley because im so groggy and cranky) and the headache is absoultly unbearable. Go back to see doctor for followup in one week, hoping this is normal side effect, and he can give me something to counteract them! Not looking forward to the dosage increase!

Can I break pills in half? I am affraid to go to bed due to how sick I feel now and waking up with shakes and sweats and chills. Gained 40 lbs. 180 to 220. All in the stomach. My stomach always feels like a rock. Can not have normal bowel movements. Help someone!

I started this med a few days ago. I am on the generic form. I take 150mg twice a day. So far I'm a little more irritable. But, it's still too early to tell. Cymbalta did absolutely nothing for my pain or depression.I'm hoping this med will help me with my mania and depression.

I have been taking Trileptal/Oxcarbazephine for five years now. It seems to be the best bipolar stabilizer I have been on yet. Lithium wasnt good on my organs. Trileptal has made me feel almost normal. The only side effects for me were short term memory loss and hair loss, and sleepiness during work hours. At night I take Seroquel with the Trileptal and get a good nights sleep.

I've been on the medication for 5 years. I've been seizure free also. This medication was the first drug that ever worked, and on it's own, for me. I drive, work at a car dealership and just got married. I'm now 29 and this is the best I've ever felt.

I've been taking this drug for about a year now to treat my bipolar II disorder. While after reading many of the reviews here I realize that my dose is small (30mg a day 15/15) but it has had some positive effects on my mood swings. The swings are further apart and my mania only lasts a day or two now. On the depression end I feel it works slightly but not to my satisfaction, but I am suspecting I need to increase my dosage. With my low dosage I haven't had to worry much about sodium levels thought I'm sure I'll need to start regular blood work should I increase. Overall it does the job with little or no side effects - i have experienced some vision issues which are brief and only occasional. When i first started the medication my very lacking appetite had improved however that has seemed to resided after switching to the generic version.Read More Read Less
