Bipolar - I took this med for one year with no blood testing. I started experiencing mixed symptoms and asked my doctor if my dosage might need to be adjusted. She then decided that my oxcarbazepine level should be checked along with my sodium. I was not even in the therapeutic range, so my dosage was increased. My sodium was only slightly low. A few weeks later my levels were checked again. ...

I have been taking this for Bipolar 2 after trying lithium, lamictal, and depakote to little effect. Trileptal has definitely stabilized my moods, but the bad bruising bothers me. Don't do contact sports, I guess?

I just started this med for bipolar disorder. I've noticed that I have a constant dull headache. Also I notice that some things don't taste the same. I have a rash on my tongue too. It makes me feel tired all the time so far. I hope some of these symptoms will improve over time.

I have been on this med for a month, for bipolar disorder. At first i liked because it made me less hungry, but now I hate it because im sleeping all day. Im a college student and 22, so this is a major problem. I cant stay up long enough to visit or go out with friends, let alone do homework.

I was taking Trileptal for Bi-polor. It really worked well for me the 3 years I took it. Then I started dropping my sodium & thyamin to exstreme lows. Finally I was hospitalized because of the low levels & put on Nuerotin finally. Which works, but not as well as the Trileptal did.

I have Bipolar Disorder, type II, and this medictaion has brought my hypomanias down to 2 or 3 a year instead of monthly. It is helping immensely. I have had to have the dose increased when symptoms started increasing but it usually does the job. It is combined with taking Lexapro for my major depressions as well.

I have MS and was put on this. It was the worst thing that happened to me. I felt better before. Had sever chills and was shaking for an hour all over. Then pain all through my body including chest pains that sent me to the hospital. Has anyone else been put on this that has MS?

I have bi-polar with severe depression, Since taking Trileptal, I feel like I have better control of my emotions and make more appropriate choices when facing a "crisis." In the past, I have attempted suicide many times when confronted with problems or depression, as well as mania--I would drink excessively trying to self medicate instead of asking for assistance. Thank GOD for Trileptal, or I would probably not be alive today!

I have been on this almost a month, I have an appt in 3 days and will probably ask to be taken off. Too many side effects - frequent diarrhea, headaches, hair loss, joint pain, blurred vision. The worse side effect is episodes of hypoglycemia, and I'm a diabetic. 3 times this past week alone. And there has been little improvement with my symptoms, crying all morning, and at night I am fiercelly angry. Has anyone else, esp. diabetics, had problems with low blood sugars?

My son has been on this medicine for a little over a year for his partial complex seizures and it has worked. He started off taking 600mg and then had to increase to 1200mg because he was still having them, but since the increase he hasn't had any. The only thing that I don't like it that if he misses one dose he has an episode and if he misses a days dose he has a full blown grand mal seizure.

Taken for bipolar disorder, sense of calm and stability of mood and thoght processes. Drowsiness upon the intial uptake of the drug, but stabilizes once the plateau level of the drug is in the blood. However skipping a dose and/or upon stopping that level of medication results in immediate symptom return and sometimes seizures. More reason to remain on the regimine that the doctor precribes and no more or less than they prescribe. I found that the best effect (for me) was to take it twice a day therefore making it easier to deal with the inital drowsiness. (ex. taking the moring dose withe a bit of coffee or warm tea and the nightly dose with a meal.Read More Read Less
