I've been taking depakote for 9 months and it has some what helped my mood swings, but it has really improved my concentration and anxiety problems. Depakote combined with adequate nutrition and exercise is the ultimate treatment for my bipolar dis order.People need to realize that medication alone will not provide them the best results. The worst thing about the depakote for me, is occasionally I...

This makes you really not care at all. I mentioned to my Psych, MD that I would take a few extra any time I knew I was going to be under stress or in an irritating environment self medicating. He switched me to Latuda and I have been going down on this. I feel 10X more alive no more drooling no more numb emotions I actually feel like myself

This medication has caused me to gain weight and my hair falls out. It is also hard on my teeth because it causes dry mouth.

I take this med. for P.H.N. (Post-herpetic neuralgia) which I have suffered from for ten years now after a bout of shingles (herpes zoster). It is a terribly painful condition which seemingly responds to none of the limited treatments. However I have had wonderful success with Divalproex. I only take 250mg/day which just keeps it at bay although 500mg/day is more successful for true relief, I take multiple other drugs for B.P. Depression and migraine, so I try to keep dose down. My fiance began taking it recently for B.P. Depression (yes, it is a fun household somedays!) and he found it significantly helps the neuropathy in his feet, so anyone with neuro type pain, you might want to discuss this with your doctor. Good Luck!Read More Read Less

This medicine worked for my bipolar disorder, BUT it also made me gain a lot of weight, my hair was falling out and worst of all it gave me LIVER DISEASE! There is far more harm than good from this medicine and I wanted to let everyone know the dangers of this medicine. I know not everyone will have the expierence I did, but why take the risk where there are better medications out there? Now I am sicker than I have ever been in my life and there is no relief from the stomach aches I get due to my liver. Read More Read Less
