Lost 5 kg while on this drug for the last 3 months. Although I am quite sleepy while on this drug, this is the first antipsychotic that I lost weight on after trying risperidone, olanzapine, abilify,Zoloft, vraylar

I experienced severe restlessness, tardive dyskinesia and insomnia within 2 weeks of using Captyla. I recommend everyone be aware of how dangerous this drug is. I had to be hospitalized and now I’m left with over a $8,000 bill. Shame on the FDA.

Woke up dizzy, tired, nauseous and had the worst restroom problems. Also broke out in hives after one day of taking it. Normally my body is good with medicine but it completely rejected this one immediately. I do not recommend at all

I am 25 years old and was just diagnosed with bipolar depression yesterday. I took my first dose last night and I had terrible night terrors as well as sleeping for 18hours straight. I tried to wake my self up to go to the restroom and I literally fell to the ground. When I finally managed to get up I had a massive headache and felt like I had gotten hit by a bus. I have tried many medications all which have left me feeling emotionally numb (prozac, viibryd, zoloft, wellbutrin) but I would take that feeling over feeling like this in a heart beat. This is the worst medication I have ever taken in my life. I hope this can help someone else. Read More Read Less

This is a follow up to a review I left after just starting this medication. I have now been on this for just about a month. I have had great results with this medication. I am no longer depressed and my anxiety has improved so much. the side effects I had only lasted 2 days which was severe dry mouth and a headache which all resolved quickly. I went to see my provider a few days ago and she could not believe how well I am doing. I had tried every medication there is and I had no luck. This medication is by far the best I have ever been on. I find myself singing and smiling so much and my attitude to life is so much better. I am so glad that I did not give up. I wish everyone the best of luck and hope you get the same results so you have a quality of life back.Read More Read Less

This medication as been night and day from the others I have been previously on. I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 last spring, but have been on several anti-depressants over the years. They helped for the most part, but didn’t quite balance me out. I’ve tried other bipolar meds before my official diagnosis, and they made me restless to the point I could not sit down. The reason I couldn’t give this a higher rating than fair for experience is because it has been impossible to get it covered. My doctor’s office has been giving me samples for months because the coupon that came with did not work correctly, and my insurance keeps denying coverage. It is such a new medication that it’s not on many insurance agencies’ formularies, making the copay above 1500, which is unreasonable for most people. If possible, I will update this review if this issue gets resolved.Read More Read Less

I am 72 years old and Caplya has been a miracle worker for me. For the last year and a 1/2,I have been on minimal meds because they cause low blood sodium. Caplyta is a new medication that does not have hyponutrimia as a side effect. I take 42 mg of Caplyta along with 500 mg of depakote . I am calm, relaxed, mellow , and nothing throws me into a fit of rage or a panic anymore sice I started taking Caplyta 2 weeks ago. This is my Christmas miracle!! I am a new person.

I took it for 7 weeks due to my psych dr telling me to give it more time. But the side effects never got better, besides the migraines that happened for the first few days and rug burn feeling on my arms. For the whole 7 weeks if I took it and didn’t sleep immediately, the out of this world feeling that happens after 1-2 hours after taking it would cause me to panic where I couldn’t sleep for hours because I felt like I was trapped within my own self. I couldn’t walk in a straight line and had to hold on to things to walk. Even after sleeping 8-10 hours a night I felt out of it each day and drugged. All day long I thought “somethjngs wrong, I don’t feel right”. I never felt like myself until I stopped it. It did help with depression. Yet I was agitated, paranoid, and started having auditory hallucinations that did not go away until I stopped taking it. I never had trouble sleeping until I took this and within 3 days after stopping it I was beginning to sleep normal again. at first I was taking it alone then started lithium for 3 weeks with it and I still had all the symptoms besides lithium bringing me out of the acute manic episode I was in. I still felt out of it and a weird out of my mind feeling.Read More Read Less

I got it this week from my doctor in samples bc im not yet able to be prescribed it because im 17 but im a month before 18. The first night i got up an hour after i took it and the whole room spun and i stumbled out of my room. The next morning i literally could not stay awake even after sleeping for 10 hours and fell asleep doing my makeup before school an hour after taking my adderall and barely could keep my eyes open all day even after napping. The second day on it was a little better but i had to drink a lot of caffeine with my adderall to be able to feel somewhat awake but i wasnt able to focus at all.. third day people were telling me i looked like i was on drugs bc of how out of it i looked and how confused i was acting. I also been getting the worst headaches feels like im hungover and i been so thirsty i keep drinking multiple bottles of water at once. I took seroquel for like a year and got off of it because it really just wasnt helping much and i never was THIS drowsy during the day on that medication and that medication was really sedating for me. Im supposed to take my fourth dose tn but im not going to this medication is fr horrible.Read More Read Less

I just started taking this medication last night. I had side effects that some have explained in their reviews. I took this medication at 5pm and noticed within an 2 hours that I was sleepy and a little restless. I went to bed and woke up with severe dry mouth within a few hours, I was able to fall back to sleep and little later woke up with a headache. I got up at 4am and still had a slight headache and the dry mouth was pretty much gone. I did feel very dizzy when I got up. I was not sure if I would make it to work because of that however with in an hour of being up I started feeling better. I am still hopeful that this medication will work. I will continue to take it as I read many reviews that these side effects only last a few days. I will follow up on my review as I continue take it. Read More Read Less

Diagnosed with Bipolar II over 30 years ago. I've tried lots of different medicines and have even had ECT treatments. I have very real side effects with most of the medicines I've tried. I've had no side effects with Caplyta and I've been on it for over 6 months. It's been a game changer for me. My psychiatrist for the last 20 years said this was as close to normal that he's ever seen me.

My husband had homicidal thoughts and aggressive outbursts. It was so bad that he was hospitalized for a month. He had bad experiences with antidepressants before, but this was far worse, even for a bit after stopping. Avoid at all costs.

This is the absolute worst medication I’ve ever been prescribed in my entire life. I took one pill and woke up 17 hours later and I could barely move. I stood up and collapsed! I crawled to the bathroom on my hands and knees and it took all I had to get myself on the toilet. I could barely make myself pee. Terrible headache, stuffy nose, ears ringing, couldn’t regulate my body temperature. Slept through two appointments. I will not even try a second dose.

Although the headaches at the beginning are quite literally the worst, after 3 days my mood lifted. 2 weeks in I'm creating again although I'm having a hard time eating and have lost a dramatic amount of weight. So far I am pleased with this medication considering just 2 weeks ago I was suicidal. If the headaches bother you take Excedrin migraine relief at the same time for the first week or so.

Took at 7pm — lowest dose possible— woke up at 7am with double vision, severe headache, stuffed nose, nausea and dizziness. Stayed in bed all day because of it. I have “pee shivers”, can’t seem to get my blood pressure above 100 despite all the fluids I’ve drank (super thirsty) and I’m never taking it again. I can deal with medication side effects, but these are off the charts!

My dr started me on this medication for bipolar disorder and an hour after I took the first dose I felt awful. Severe dry mouth, pins & needles to arms, face, head, on fire feeling, shortness of breath, drowsiness, and then a headache. I’ve never experienced anything like this with any other medication. Needless to say, these pills went right in the garbage.

so the first night i took, i thought it was going to be terrible because soon after i took it i was very drowsy and weirdly felt like i had a sunburn? i woke up with no issue with either of those things but i still called my doctor and told her, she said try it one more night and then we could see about switching. i am SO glad i did because i no longer had the sunburn feeling and i slept great! Caplyta for me is what i switched to after Invega pretty much ruined my life and as soon as i switched it was like i got my whole life back! i could talk to people and go to bed at a normal time (not 5 pm) and most importantly, i was finally on a medication that actually did something for my psychosis! i haven’t had psychotic symptoms in over 3 months!Read More Read Less

My psychiatrist put me on Caplyta along with the Zyprexa I'm already on. Right after I took the Caplyta I started feeling extremely tired. Then everytime I would get up to walk I felt drunk out of my mind. I could barely even walk. I felt so drunk and drugged. Will not be taking this medicine ever again. And to top things off instead of my psychiatrist putting me on the lowest dose in the beginning he put me on the highest dose. I refuse to take this medicine ever again. I will be calling my doctor on Monday and telling him what happened. I would never recommend this medicine to anyone whatsoever. I'm sure there are people that it might help but my body reacted horrible to this medication. I will never take it ever again. Please be careful taking this medicine. Read More Read Less

I started this med at the end of May and at first it worked amazing. Whim days I felt as if a light switch had been turned on in my brain after years of being in a horrible depression. I even went on a diet and lost 30 pounds in about 2 months. I’d never felt so good…. Then one day at the end of July I woke up feeling extremely drugged. I felt so nauseous and when I got up to try to walk I’d almost completely black out. Then one by one a new symptom would appear. Weakness, cognitive and motor shills shot, Then heart palpitations. Numbness in arms, legs hands and feet. I went to 2 different doctors saw 2 different specialists and saw 3 ER doctors and none could find a thing wrong with me. I was even kicked outta the hospital for not wanting to leave. Nobody believed me. It was to the point where I thought I might die and I know it wasn’t the extreme panic attacks I was having either it was a strong since of death coming my way. This went on for a month straight and nobody could figure it out and since all I had was low BP I kept getting sent home. I prayed to God every night hoping this was not my new normal in life because I also have fibromyalgia too. So during the whole time I was also in a great deal of pain too. I started frantically doing research. It took me about a week but then I decided with a good whisper in the ear from God to look up side effects of Caplyta. It was hard for me to think it was the Caplyta till I looked up the side effects. I had all and then some not listed. I stopped taking it immediately. This was definitely different from any other med I’ve tried because I didn’t get the bad side effects for about 2 months or so after had been on it. Also what could I complain about because it made me feel better in the beginning. Every single med I’ve taken that I had a bad reaction to happened immediately after taking. But why not this one? Why did it work so fast? Why for heavens sack didn’t any doctor even look at it. Mind blowing. Worst med side effects I’ve ever had in my life of being on meds for over 28 years. I have bipolar depression and I took caplyta 42 mg for the first time. My body was on fire and instantly made me tired . I was in bed by 6 pm and was so anxious and even tho I was so tired, it took me 2 hours to fall asleep. Woke up in the middle of the night with the worst headache and so much pressure in my head that I thought my head was going to explode. Woke up about 630 am and my head was still pounding. Went back to sleep for about 4 hours and when I woke back up I still felt the headache. I couldn’t keep my eyes open and felt dizzy and lightheaded. Worst medicine I have ever took. Threw the medicine in the garbage. Read More Read Less
