Lost 5 kg while on this drug for the last 3 months. Although I am quite sleepy while on this drug, this is the first antipsychotic that I lost weight on after trying risperidone, olanzapine, abilify,Zoloft, vraylar

I experienced severe restlessness, tardive dyskinesia and insomnia within 2 weeks of using Captyla. I recommend everyone be aware of how dangerous this drug is. I had to be hospitalized and now I’m left with over a $8,000 bill. Shame on the FDA.

I was in a severe depression with suicidal ideation in 2022. My doctor asked me to try Caplyta and gave me some samples. I was hesitant to try it at first, as I am very sensitive to most medications and usually get the worst side effects. However, I noticed that I felt uplifted after taking this on the 4th day. I no longer felt hopeless! The second week I noticed that I felt "numb" and was ready to give up on the med but my husband encouraged me to keep going. The numbness went away the next week and from that point on, all was great! One thing I did notice, that I would get hypomania at times, however the depression has not come back and it has been 10 months on Caplyta. It helped me so much from going from severely depressed to feeling normal !Read More Read Less

I was on it for 2 weeks. The fact that it made you sleepy was perfect because you take it at bedtime and I’ve always had trouble sleeping. One morning I woke up and it was as if someone had thrown a bucket of ice water on my face. I had pretty much become bedridden due to my self imposed isolation over a 3 year period after retirement. I got and felt ALIVE. No grogginess. I have now been on it for a month. 1) zero ability to have any negative thoughts 2) i have been able to have no expectations 3).i have a tremendous desire to contact friends from long ago just to tell me them that I cherish their friendships. 4) i have been filled with joy and glee that continues. I’ve been under psychiatric care for 20 years. I’ve tried every kind of medicine available. 5) i am so happy to be able to express kindness with sincere empathy to someone 6) it is like a switch was flipped. My friends are perplexed that I’m suddenly so happy and so talkative. 7) PLEASE be Knowledgeable of the side effects but don’t let hem scare you. I have had none. 8);I would highly encourage trying it for 2 weeks. It takes time for it to kick. It is of my opinion that since drug companies are required to list the side effects, a lot of people might take it for 2 days and give up. 9) if it makes you violently Ill, of course stop it immediately 10 I truly feel like I want to go out and jump up and down. Never experienced anything like it. This medication is making me want to LIVE again.!Read More Read Less

I love that I can get up early now and rest well most nights, but I'm having little "anger" and "paranoia" so I will have to tell my Dr. I've been on it 21 days.

I took this medication ONCE and ended up in the ER within 2 hours . I started developing strange vision, dizziness, and a burning sensation through out my body with fever . It felt as if someone put IV Contrast in me my body felt so hot all over on the inside but I was getting chills. I went to the ER and they said it’s due to the effect the medication had on my body. When I got home from the ER 3 hours later , I felt extreme nausea and headaches , difficulty walking. Today is the next day and I feel a bit better but still pretty weak and headache. I know this is my personal experience and it won’t affect everyone like this but I just wanted to warn. Also my depression and anxiety got very bad the next day. Read More Read Less

I have treatment-resistant BP2 depression. Within 4 days of taking Caplyta, the depression and anxiety were gone. This medication changed my life. Unfortunately, I developed severe burning from small-fiber neuropathy. It literally felt as if my skin was ripped off my legs and torso. There is almost no information on this side effect on the internet, even scholarly articles, and my psychiatrist said it was not the Caplyta causing the neuropathy. Well, he was wrong and animal studies suggest it causes neurotoxicity.Read More Read Less

Horrible - extremely tired and developed restless leg after 3 weeks. How this passed FDA approval is beyond me. Should be taken off market.

I was prescribed the lowest dose for BP2 depression. I took it for 2 weeks before the Restless Leg Syndrome started (RLS) I had to stop for that reason. Unbearable side effect for me.

Soo basically I was taking this medication in combo w others. I have ADHD, PTSD, and bipolar 1 mixed. I weaned off almost all of my meds and at the time I was not on a stim but now I am. After being taken off my meds I stayed on caplyta thinking it could help with my depression, now I am planning to go back on an antidepressant. Antipsychotics always make me a shell of a person but this made me feel worse for sure. I was in a state of eating a lot of junk for two months nothing crazy, but i tested to be almost pre diabetic, I am 22 yrs old! Fast forward two months later I am so tired after a dose into the NEXT DAY and mentally in loopholes. I overthink, ruminate, etc. It cognitively put me into a state of depersonalization like I did not feel like I could take less than 3 seconds to begin to form a sentence. The biggest hit was on my relationships because I didn’t want to hangout AT ALL knowing I would overthink EVERYTHING and just overall felt like a different person, isolating and ruminating on conversations, which made me introverted.Read More Read Less

This is a follow up from another post I did. I have been on this medication for several months and when I began taking it I only had days of side effects, dry mouth and headache. I have been experiencing depression and anxiety once again and my fatigue is so unbearable. I think the medication has stopped working for me and now I am back to where I was before starting it. I really don't think I want to continue taking it anymore as it is just making me extremely tired. I have no ambition to do anything once again. I am scheduled to see my doctor this week and will discuss what I am experiencing. Read More Read Less

I had suicidal ideation for almost a month this past winter. Sleeping 17 hours a day. Not showering. Awful. My doctor kept trying to get me to take this and I refused, because of googling bad side effects. _Finally, I said its either the hospital or I give it a shot. 8 days later, its been a miracle drug for me!! I'm sure praying, the springtime sun and getting a job helped with the depression but I swear this med helped save me. I take it at night with a little food...give it a whirl, you might just be over the top happy with the results! Blessings and love to you and your journey to recovery! Read More Read Less

I am 45 years old. Female. I have been on EVERY KIND OF MEDICATION you can think of. Sometimes up to ten at a time. I have never had any relief from any of them except Serequel because it made me sleep at least. I have been on this medication for five days. I was scared to death to take it because of the side affects I have been reading but I’m so desperate to get better and I had NO IDEA what better even meant because I’ve been so depressed and sad and mean my whole life. This medication has turned me a whole 360. The very next day I knew I felt differently and that is never happened to me before. I did experience some nausea and headache on a level one out of 10 but I actually feel happy and not annoyed by anyone friendly even my relationship is taking a turn for the better I feel absolutely amazing. Don’t be afraid of this medication try it. Read More Read Less

I have only just started this medication but I can already notice a huge difference. I no longer experience the negative thoughts that I have experienced for years now. I have tried so many different medications for the severe depression that I experience and this is by far the the most effective medication to date. I have read a lot about the various side effects that people experience when starting this medication and by no means is it my intention to invalidate them as they do exist but they are very manageable and subside very quickly. The biggest thing I have noticed is the residual drowsiness when waking up in the morning however, this subsides pretty quickly after waking up and getting moving. I highly recommend that anyone experiencing severe depression or similar to at least give this medication a try. It might not work for everyone but if you don't try it then you will never know if it works for you. Read More Read Less

My doctor has been hyping this as some miracle drug, but I am not impressed. I titrated up taking 10mg for a month with the 2 mg of Abilify and 900 mg of Trileptal I was already on and things seemed fine. The doctor had me start the 21 mg and taper off my other meds and it's gone downhill from there. I take the Caplyta at six, am in bed by seven, and sleep 8-10 hours. I wake up exhausted and grumpy and stay that way all day. I cry at the drop of a hat and yell at my spouse over the slightest thing. I can't wait for my appointment Monday so I can go back to Abilify and be a happy, functional person again. I'd rather have insomnia than this nonsense. Read More Read Less

Every time i try a new med i always read the reviews so i figured i would write one out myself to showcase my experience of being on Caplyta for 7ish months. I’ve been on so many medications, most of the time they made me feel worse. Once I was diagnosed with Bipolar II over a year ago I tried Latuda. I was so restless, extremely depressed, and gained weight. I then started Caplyta and honestly it got me out of one of the worst depressive episodes I have ever been in. I have no side effects except exhaustion a couple hours after taking it (which i don’t mind). I have actually lost some weight. I did have one night where I must of not eaten enough with it and i was super dizzy, falling over, and i puked. I found that eating a good amount of calories with it I don’t experience the crazy dizziness. Am i fully cured? No, but this drug has honestly saved me. I would say try it, especially if you’ve tried so many other meds. I recommend going to their website and signing up for a savings card. Last year that saved me so much, i paid $0-$15. My only struggle now is my insurance is covering less so even with the savings card it’s going to be $200. I’m a young 23yr old and if it means anything I am probably going to pay that because these meds have helped me so much. I hope they can offer a bigger savings card or something soon because it’s outrageous to charge $1700 for a medication that helps you stay alive. I hope this review helps someone, i know how it feels to be at your breaking point and not knowing what to expect with another new drug. Give it some time to get used to your body, maybe this med will give you a glimpse of hope like it did for me Read More Read Less

I am on day 11 of Caplyta 42 mg, was prescribed for bipolar 2. I also take trintellix 20mg and lamotrigen 200mg. The first day I took it at night , in the morning I had a hard time getting up. I was so sleepy and my balance was horrible, I fell when I stood up to go to the bathroom. I had the worst headache and my brain was foggy. Was not hungry all day. The following day my balance was off but not too bad. I was not hungry and had severe brain fog. The symptoms got better after day three, but not all symptoms have gone away. I still have brain fog, and I am very forgetful. I also have to nap during the day because I get really tired, and I don’t get hungry. My advice is to take it at at night, the night before a day where you don’t have to work. I’m starting to notice that I am more social, I smile more and my hygiene is better. I can’t wait to get the full benefits of this medication. Read More Read Less

I started taking caplyta around early November 2022. While this medication definitely has more potent side effects, I feel that this medication is actually worth looking into. BUT. Keep in mind, everyone’s brain works differently. So it may work for you, it may not. But I have noticed a significant shift in my overall drive to be more present socially and remain in control over my emotions. I however still suffer from side effects and it’s been over 2 months. Such as dry mouth, extreme drowsiness, and my eyes get bloodshot. I’ve been thought to be a huge stoner but in reality it’s just caplyta. But if you’re looking to change your mood stabilizer, I’d recommend trying.Read More Read Less
