Hello. At the age of 32 I was diagnosed stage 3 breast cancer. I was in remission and then at age 39 I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer to the bones and lungs. My doctor prescribed this medication after taking the cancer dna test. I have completed one prescription of 28 days on 200 mg tablet once a day. So far my side effects have been a little nausea and fatigue. My doctor warned me to...

Sugar elevated to 400-500 several times a day while taking the drug. I had yellow bowel movements. And brown urine. And started to give me jondous. Drug is unacceptable and the FDA is a horrible establishment for putting this on the market. Shame on them!!!

Got all the side effects possible. After one year, no result at all on my cancer and ended up with kidney failure and 3 weeks at the hospital to regain a normal kidney function.

I started taking Piqray after progression with Ribociclib (duration 12 months) and Abemaciclib (4 months). I’ve been taking Piqray for 9 weeks now. Glucose in blood did go up to 140 after a month but then dropped back down to 120 two weeks later. I did get a rash after taking for about two weeks but it had totally gone within 7 days, I guess because I was already taking the antihistamine tablets. The worst side effect for me has been mouth sores and ulcers which has been constant, and very painful. But at my last blood test this week the CEA marker is still going up in leaps and bounds so my oncologist thinks Piqray isnt working. I now have a round of ct scans and a gammogram planned for this month and then we will see. If there’s more progression then it looks as though more chemo is on the cards. I’m truly disappointed….I was really hoping this would be the one to stop progression.Read More Read Less

Elevated blood sugar. On insulin 4 times a day. Using continuous glucose monitor.dosage decreased from 300mg to 250. Right now condition stable. Pet scan didn't say much about Mets to bones. Baseline bone scan said some.not sure how long I can take. I can't afford cost on my own. I won't bankrupt my family. Hopefully it puts cancer in remission for a long time.

In the beginning taking Piqray i had rash covering my whole body, fever and nausea and ended up in hospital 3 times. I forced myself to keep trying. I have now been on Piqray for 4 months with absolutely no side effects and outstanding results. Im so impressed with this medication and will continue to use this medication as long as it works and i can afford it.

This medicine killed my mother. She did have metastasized breast cancer but was not actively dying at all before she started this med. She started the med and was dead two weeks later. I believe she would still be alive if she had not taken this medicine.

MBC since 08/22. Testing ER status was boarder-line. Took Ibrance for 7 months until progression. I have been on Piqray for 2 weeks. I stopped for 4 days when the rash appeared. My main concern is a very high fever. Started out somewhat manageable but last night was very close to 103. Most posts deal with the gastrointestinal issues which I don't have. Anyone dealing with a fever?

I am 67 y/,o female with metastatic breast cancer to the bone. I've tried 5 other oral meds and took chemo for 5 months none of which helped a great deal. I've managed to take the first month of Piqray, but had to take a week break after first 2 weeks, I was so sick.,but started back.I've had most all of the side affects, except the rash which my Dr & I feared would be the worst since most of the other oral meds caused a rash. Instead of diarrhea,I was severely constipated. All food and drink tasted bitter. Hoping my pet scan in March is better.than in Nov 2021.it has at least kept the fluid in my lungs from coming back. I had to have it drained 11 times in 6 months.Read More Read Less

I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and was in remission until one bone tumor was found in 2018 which was successfully "killed" with radiation, then in 2020 a few more small bone tumors were found in my back, as well as a tumor in my liver. I like the ease and convenience of taking these chemo pills versus having IV chemo. I have been taking Piqray at the 300mg/day dosage for 9 months. My tumor marker number has reduced from 80+ to a low of 38, but has inched up a bit in the last 3 months or so to 42. My bone tumors have shrunk as has my liver tumor. However, the side effects have been extremely challenging. I experience extreme fatigue, dry mouth, dry skin, significant hair thinning, gassiness, diarrhea, change in taste (anything sweet tastes horrible now, other things taste "off"), brittle nails, sensitive/peeling fingertips. To help counter the fatigue, I am taking Ritalin. It has helped in that regard, however, I have lost 30+ pounds. I attribute that mostly to the Ritalin, which can cause weight loss and loss of appetite, but I also believe Piqray shares some blame because of the change of taste issue which takes all the pleasure out of eating, as well as diarrhea issues further limiting what my system can handle. I am also concerned that the cumulative effects of the Piqray may be increasing the frequency of the diarrhea. I have been able to control it with one Immodium AD tablet/day, but in the last week that is no longer enough to keep it in check. I am also experiencing more gas pains. I plan to discuss this with my oncologist at my next regular visit in a couple of weeks. While the side effects can be overwhelming at times, I am thankful that it is keeping my cancer in check. I am fearful that at some point my body will no longer be able to tolerate it and I won't have that ammunition to help me continue my fight.Read More Read Less

My friend took this to fight advanced metastatic breast cancer. She soldered through pretty severe diarrhea, which she consulted her Kaiser oncologist about. She initially lowered her dose for a few months, which improved her diarrhea. Then she raised her dosage back up to the recommended dosage two months ago. She is now in the ER with severe diarrhea with blood in her liquid stools, dehydration, significant weight loss. Novartis might have to advise oncologists to be much more careful about how they treat the diarrhea that is a potential side effect of this medication...patients should be warned to take severe diarrhea as a signal that this drug is not a good fit with their bodies, even if it might fight their cancer. Severe diarrhea should be described to patients and should not be tolerated by patients or by their oncologists--it can be fatal itself. Beware.Read More Read Less

I got 10 months out of Piqray. Have had the rash which I needed to stop Piqray for for over a month then restarted on a lower dose. I no further new areas but this started in March and it is now Sept and I still have some very small areas that are scabbed over and won't heal. I have to move on to Xeloda now. After stopping the drug on Friday I started having terrible pain in my legs that Saturday evening. I could not get comfortable no matter what I did. I finally got ahead of it some by taking 800mg of ibuprofen Q6 hrs and it at least took the edge of so I could move. It has gotten better since then. The pharmacist said he never heard of this. I'm in a support group and they all know about it and some have experienced it. I am greatful for the 10 months I got but it has been very hard to tolerate and now going off with all this pain I just don't know if I could honestly recommend it. Read More Read Less

Stage 4 breast cancer, Mets to bone. T12 spine. PIK3CA. Yeah, sugars around 150, yeah, diarrhea, yeah, dry mouth. Biggest side effects…life! Not many choices with this variant! I could deal with these side effects, as long as I’m alive!

I would love to stay on this drug forever. I am now on my 4th cycle. I have experienced the mildest of side effects-slight fatigue. I have been following a low carb/low sugar diet, I try to exercise daily. My tumour markers are down from 217 .to 32, and largest liver tumour reduced from 5cm to 2cm. Everyone is different and everyone will have different experiences.

I'm 60 and started with breast cancer in 2004. This drug has been very effective, I am on the end of my second month. My first month my cancer markers dropped 48 for the 15-3 antigen test. However, the side effects are not good. My dose is 300mg, and if my markers are acceptable I will ask for a dose reduction after another round. I think I'm not feeling well because the medicine is kicking butt! However, I have learned to manage myself to have slightly lessened side effects. I take mine at night to have the most serious dizzy then, I do not push myself too much physically at all (or the next four days are not good), lots of water-seems the side effects are worse if you don't drink a lot, and I already eat a mostly carbohydrate free diet. Yeah, anti nausea stuff doesn't work. Don't know the lowest dose, but this stuff is effective!Read More Read Less

Mom taking 200mg, she has change of taste, loss of appetite, diarrhea, mouth is dry, more thirst and upset stomach. She doesn't like the taste of any foods, doctor says to continue with it for another week or two, she just started 3 weeks ago. I am not too fond of this medication, I know mom isn't, I have a feeling she is going to opt out of this med.

Almost instant nausea and constant stomach pain. I kept trying to take it but my stomach was so upset, I had to skip medication for a day just for my stomach to return to normal so I would not throw up again.

Breast cancer has mestazied to liver. A few days before Thanksgiving I started the 300 mg of Piqray. I have been sick losing weight ever since. I was even hospitalized around Christmas with my liver being worse and my abdomen needing drained from fluid being released there by the liver. So my dosage was changed to 200 mg with no change in nausea and no change to the increased blood sugar averaging in the high 300's. I am having to make a choice on my own and stop this pill before it kills me.

Started 300 mg and by day 12 had horrible rash on back. Next blisters bottom lip and sore in mouth. Glucose rose over 400 and had to start diabetic insulin. Dose then was lowered to 200mg. Cancer was inactive in Sept. recent Pet it came alive and pill did not work for me. Pill has been stopped and I will restart chemo Taxol 8-12 rounds. Was worth a try but it about killed me going thru all the side effects.
