Great medication! Second week of the school year and my teenage son has done great. We did have to go from 60 to 80 but he’s grown a ton this summer. His appetite isn’t really different and surprisingly he’s slept great. He’s been on time to first hour every day so far...last year, he would have been tardy 6 times already.

18 year old son took the 60mg capsule for 1 month. His grades went from A's to D's, he fell asleep in class and had to be hospitalized for 2 days because he became basically catatonic. He had a manic episode, which has never happened. He has been on adhd meds since age 5. This was the scariest reaction to a medication.

My daughter is 9 about 60-65 pounds with ADHD/Level 1 ASD. She was on Focalin XR for almost two years. We always new Focalin was not the perfect medicine but it did help. The biggest complaints on Focalin were sleep issues, eating issues, and irritability. We tried some other metheyfenidate meds in combination with anxiety--all had horrible effects (in short). We were then referred to a psychiatrist (highly recommend over the pediatrician--so much more knowledgeable). She recommended Jornay PM--I was hesitant because it wasn't as mainstream. We tried it and within days saw an instant change with none of the issues we had on Focalin XR. I will continue this medication for my daughter until he seems ineffective (hoping it lasts). We are on 9 months strong!Read More Read Less

We tried JornayPM twice for my 12 yo son with ADHD and ASD. The first time, we started it and about 4 days later tried changing him from Prozac to Lexapro for his anxiety. Within 2-3 days of that change (and about 7 days after starting JornayPM), he became aggressive, angry, his work ethic tanked, stopped caring about school and became unbelievably difficult. We, his pediatrician, and his Psychiatric NP, all blamed it on the Prozac to Lexapro change. After about a month of going back to his old med regimen, I hesitantly agreed to try the JornayPM again, but did not change the Prozac this time. It was great for about 6 days, but by the 7th day, we had the same scary, disastrous outcome. Most days we had to pick him up from school because his behavior was so terrible. This medication did not work for us. Read More Read Less

I can't speak highly enough of this medication. It has absolutely changed my life. Being able to wake up medicated and feel steadily alert throughout the day has been the most incredible blessing. I feel like I can function the way neurotypical people do; being able to move through life in a straight line and without my brain bouncing from side to side (at least not as much). It's made me calmer, happier, more patient with others...the list goes on. I hope it is never discontinued because I really do need it. So thankful. Read More Read Less

Awesome adhd medication! I took it thinking I’d wake up in the middle of the night, but instead woke up in the morning ready to rock! Before Jornay, my wife and my kids wouldn’t talk to me until I’d been awake for at least an hour because I was in such a grumpy mood. All was good once my previous medicine kicked in, which was Vyvanse, but my boss was pissed at me for rolling in 30-45 minutes late. I’m a top producer but crammed all I had into the afternoon because I just wasn’t functioning until then. He prescribed 80mg of Jornay pm, I take it around 7pm, and now I’m like how I was in the afternoon all day from the time I’m up until the evening and it wears off smoothly! I love this med! My wife and kids can tell a huge difference! Read More Read Less

We have tried several different medications for our son. We have found this to be a great fit. My only complaint is the nausea in the morning. He doesn't want to eat.

I was on Vyvanse for years. My psych put me on a newer med about 6 months ago called Astairis or something. That drug did not a thing for my adhd so she put me on Journay PM about a month ago. She said she’s been seeing the best and smoothest results from this one and I’ve never felt better. I take 80mg in the evening and I wake up like a morning person I used to be as a kid! I am out the door and on time for work every single day this month. I feel confident and smile and a calm. My husband has noticed and loves how I feel better about myself!Read More Read Less

This is a phenomenal medication. My daughter if flourishing on this. Very smooth unlike everything else we’ve tried AND it has really lasted her into the evening. Something about where the medication gets absorbed vs other adhd medication. I don’t quite understand it, but I don’t care! Take at night, she wakes up ready to go and hasn’t dealt with no eating.

My 9 year old daughter was on another long acting medicine with intuniv for adhd related impulsivity and temper tantrums. That medicine and Intuniv worked for a 2 years-ish but recently she’s been struggling at home doing her homework and fighting non-stop with her older siblings and little brother. It’s been really challenge because you just cannot seem to reason with children who struggle with adhd until maturity starts to set in…hopefully. It was the same for our oldest son. Anyway, our pediatrician raised the dose of focalin XR and it worked a bit better but not by much and she started picking her fingernails again, despite intiniv. He wanted to put her on Jornay over the summer but we stayed on the old regimen. After he tried bumping her dose up and it failed, it was time to try Jornay. Low and behold a month in and our little girl is doing amazingly well. It took a week to get used to remembering to take it at night but since she was on intuniv at night it wasn’t too bad. She takes the 60mg, and doesn’t need anything else after school. I came home from work yesterday, and she said to me “Hey mom! Aren’t you proud? I already did my 30 minutes of reading, and I just finished my number corner exercises!” She was so proud and I almost burst into tears. Jornay PM has been nothing short of a magical pill for her. I know everyone responds differently to medicine but I recommend exploring this one!Read More Read Less

Switched son to Jornay PM 40mg in July, he was taking Azstarys highest dose since the spring, and he still needed coverage later in the day. Azstarys didn’t work as long as doctor thought it would. They switched him to 40mg of Jornay taken at night and we noticed immediate improvements in his demeanor, attention, and all around personability. Once the school year started, the doctor increased his dose to 60, but we then went to 80 about 3 weeks ago. He’s 13 and thriving in 7th grade! No more homework battles at night and our mornings are amazing since he wakes up with Jornay working. I’ve been in touch with his teachers and he’s doing great. We are so thrilled, and for the first time in his life, I’m actually looking forward to parent teacher conferences in 2 weeks!Read More Read Less

This stuff is amazingly helpful to not only myself but my daughter. Waking up ready to go is so much better than fumbling through the morning for seems like forever. We’ve also stopped taking a dose of immediate action ritalin later in the day. Our doctor said it’s because the medication is absorbed in your large intestines which makes it last??? I don’t know but it’s a total win for us!

At first we had a hard time remembering to dose this at night but I think that was because we were on too low of a dose and it was kind of underwhelming. My kids doctor bumped his dose up and said the higher doses would work better because of where the medication was being absorbed. He was right! Going from 20 mg to 60 mg with a game changer for my eight-year-old. The funny thing is, after dinner, my kid tells me that I need to give him his medication. Now dosing at night isn’t something we forget about and the funny thing is it’s actually easier than dozing it in the morning! There’s too much going on and it’s just already working because he woke up with it working! The school year is off to an amazing start for our little guy…Read More Read Less

This is by far the smoothest adhd treatment I’ve taken and I’ve been on medication since 1991! Very few to zero side effects, just some mild appetite issues the first week of 2, but outside of that, very smooth and lasts long. I take the 80mg anywhere between 7-10pm and wake up as scheduled and have no problems falling asleep.

Took us a couple days to get used to having to dose medication at night, but this is an amazing medication! Now, our 11 year old reminds US that they need to take their “focus medicine”! I don’t know how this company made it so you can take ADHD stimulants at night but they won’t work until the morning, but they did. My son is doing amazingly well after just one month of therapy. He’s actually gained a couple pounds and doesn’t need a second dose of Ritalin later in the day. He was on Concerta with a Ritalin booster before. Prior to this he had tried adderall XR with adderall booster as well as every other long acting methylphenidate, I swear. Wish we would have made the jump over a year ago when our pediatrician recommended it.Read More Read Less

Can’t say enough great things about Jornay PM. It has helped me to save my job! I am a creative design associate for a well-known ad firm, and I was on a plan due to frequent tardiness and not meeting many deadlines no matter how hard I tried. I got so down and felt like a failure constantly. Every day, no matter how early I got up, it seemed like I could never get myself together quickly enough. Almost like I was dragging myself through deep mud, getting nowhere fast! I’m sure many of you can relate. I was diagnosed adhd as a child, took meds through college and was last on Vyvanse. I never really like the way I felt on that. Thought I was “good” once I was done with school, and stopped medication. I was in denial for a long time! my performance plan forced me to take next steps to get things on track, because I am a newlywed and we need the income! My practitioner recommended Jornay p.m. because she said it works as I’m waking and lasts all day long - my days are long! The difference was immediately apparent. I had to increase my dose twice to get to the right dose but with each dose it got better and better. And I don’t feel jittery or crappy or moody! I can face my day with focus and I’m not making stupid decisions and deciding not to care about work at different moments throughout the day. Honestly I don’t know where I would be if I hadn’t started this. It’s been three months and my boss is majorly complementary towards my improvements and personal growth without even knowing I had ADHD! I would encourage anybody struggling to give this a shot!Read More Read Less

This adhd medication is outstanding. My teenage daughter began taking it about 3 weeks ago and she’s a different person. She used to be so up and down throughout the day with her other medication she used for years. Horribly slow and uncooperative in the morning, until she took her other medication, which seemed to take forever to work…and then, moody as hell in the afternoon when my wife and I would come home from work! She’s 15 and we didn’t trust her to be responsible enough to watch our 12 and 9 year olds so we hired a summer sitter. She almost acted less mature than our 12 year old and required a lot of oversight for chores etc.. After a few days of taking Jornay PM (at night, which was weird at first) she asked my wife and I why we wouldn’t let her get allowance or babysit her siblings. We explained to her our thoughts, and she pointed out that she wants us to trust her and has felt responsible and involved with the younger two ever since she started on the med. The sitter confirmed the same thing and told us she was helpful, listened, engaged in conversation, and was kind to the other two! This was unbelievable to hear! Also, she’s been in school for 1 week now and so far, she hasn’t been late ONE day, is finishing her homework as we’re getting home from the office, and has taken her Jornay PM EVERY NIGHT ON HER OWN! I want to kiss the people who come up with how this medication works! It’s only been a short time but there is a light feeling in our house!Read More Read Less

All I have to say is THANK YOU JORNAY FOR GIVING US OUR SON BACK!! If any of you have kids/teens who struggle with their medicine working quickly enough in the morning AND lasting long enough through the day, and have gross side effects, THAN YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS MEDICINE! You take it at night (way easier!) and my kid wakes up with medicine kicking in. And it lasts all day! There’s seriously nothing else out there that’s touched this!

My kid started this last school year and took a break on and off this summer. He was on 60mg. Great throughout the year! No appetite issues, he started growing when we switched him to this, and he seemed happy all around! His first two weeks of school this year were rocky…Jornay was wearing off after in the afternoon. I was super bummed BUT we met with his pediatrician last week, and he said “no problem because this medication actually works longer if you dose it higher.” I was doubtful given past experience, but I was quickly at ease because as of last week, the 80mg was working like before but better! He does his Hw right away after school before I get home from work. My wife and I are thrilled!Read More Read Less

If anyone reading this is like me, ADHD makes life in general, more difficult. Many times I will forget to even take my ADHD medication and or take it with me when I leave the house for work. Because of these issues my doctor recommended Jornay p.m. because I take it at night and it kicks in as I’m waking up in the morning. Nothing at all has ever worked for me until now! I feel like I am operating on all cylinders and I’m actually sleeping better! I can’t tell you how thankful I am that this medication exists. At first I was leery about taking a med like this at night, but the way it works makes it so it doesn’t start working until you’re waking up. Someone figured this out and it is the best way for me to be treated.Read More Read Less

First day of school today, and my son who is starting his freshman year, was up at 5:45 ate breakfast showered and was early for the bus when it came at 6:45. This never would have happened had it not been for taking Jornay p.m. at night! It starts working right away and he is medicated heading out the door instead of waiting for onset of meds, missing bus constantly, and just being a defiant and unpleasant hassle in the morning! Doing well his freshman year is critical and we have struggled to find the right ADHD med for him since he was eight years old. He started taking Jornay in July, and we noticed an immediate difference. I was a little worried about him taking it at night and not being able to sleep in when he wanted to, but that was not an issue. He would just naturally wake up when he needed to. Also this medication works very long and we no longer have to give him a dose of short acting medicine for later parts of the day when his behavior would typically head south. I highly recommend asking to your doc about this medication if you have not done so already. My son was on Vyvanse and I was afraid to try a methylphenidate product because we have had bad experiences with them in the past. This has given us our son back and I could not say anything bad about it so far. My father was in town a couple weeks back and made a comment to me on the side about how our son seemed completely engaged and just different than the last time he visited. He mentioned how much he enjoyed spending time with him because he was so conversational and pleasant! This, right there, was icing on the cake that Jornay was the best decision! We no longer have to worry about getting him to take his meds in the morning which is the most chaotic time of the day for us. I wouldn’t do it any other way!!Read More Read Less
