Well, I'm not pregnant, I lost 12 pounds, my skin looks so much better, increased sex drive, and lighter periods. Seriously, the best bc I've ever been on.

i started birth control when i was 15 it was supposed to help my cramps. at 16 i ended up with numerous blood clots in my legs lungs and in my arms, my family and was told to come and say goodbye to me because i only had a ten percent chance to live. thankfully i mad it but being 16 and hearing this is probably the end of your life was so hard.

I have been on Apri for about 2.5 years. I have tried numerous kinds of bc pills, Depo-Provera and an IUD. So far this is the only one that I've lasted over a year with. With others, around the year mark I would get depressed and irritable so I'd try something else. I do think this pill has made me hold on to some weight (15 lbs that won't go away), and has effected my sex drive (low). Also, I tend to have a little acne each month with my period, and pms is always rough (bloating, irritability). But periods are usually only 3 days and mostly no cramping; which was a big issue for me in the past. With all of that said, I have been on bc for 17 years, and am counting the days until I can get off of hormones. :)Read More Read Less

I have been using this for awhile now. I was put on it because after my car accident 3 years ago I had my period continuously for 2 months. Once I started the medicine my period went back to once a month. My period has been 5-7 days since I first got it when I was 11. Ever since I started taking this pill it has dropped to a two day period. I was told this is normal for my body now. I have recently been feeling extremely nauseous after taking this pill. This started about two weeks ago. I dont understand cause I have been on it for about 3 years and now all of a sudden I juat want to throw up after I take this pill. I have a doctors appointment this week in which we will be discussing whether or not I should stay on this pill. Overall it has not been a horrible pill for me... just these past couple of weeks have been horrible. Read More Read Less

I am 23 years old and have been off birth control for 5 years. I have moderate/severe acne and was put on Apri 0.15mg/0.03mg which i took for one month . I was very angry on this medication and just felt very hateful about everything. I did not see a difference in my acne if anything it seemed more irritated and inflammed (they say it takes 3 months to see a difference). The week before taking the non-active white pills I had cramping 5 days in a row which is unusual for me because usually I only have cramps on the first day of my period. So this medication did not work for me and I decided to switch to Tri-Sprintec and so far being almost a month on it I don't have any side effects and my acne is no different...but time will tell. If you don't feel good on your birth control ladies (such as depression), switch!! there are so many different brands out there and everyone is so differentRead More Read Less

Tried this birth control once before and hated it! But due to heavy periods, I gave it a second try. Bad idea! I break out like a teenager, I am soooo moody, the weight gain is ridiculous, I am always tired, and I cramp more with my periods. Having lighter periods is not worth this.

I started off with Desogen, moved to Reclipsen and am now on Apri, have been for about 3 years. It was working great, but in the last few months I have gotten extreme anxiety, depression and mood swings. My periods are also heavier and really painful. I have NO sex drive and that coupled with my irritability has strained my relationship. I'm talking to my doctor and either switching or going off BC all together!

I had gotten this BCP as an oral contraceptive as well as relief from heavy periods. It's worked perfectly, and my periods are much lighter. I haven't gained weight, nor have I had terrible mood swings, like most BCPs warn you of. Acne wasn't a main concern for me, but it definitely helped that, as well.

After taking this drug for two months (getting ready to start the 3rd pack) I started having pain in my right side. Pain went up to the shoulder. I ended up in the ER on Friday night (during the blizzard) and was diagnosed with a large pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung). I am not a smoker, a little overweight, but very active. Now I can never take any contraceptives, when I have or become pregnant I will be considered high risk. I have suffered lung damage with this too. Had I not braved the storm, the doc said I would have died within a day or two. Please be cautious and listen to your body. If it's not right or doesn't feel right get it checked!!!!!Read More Read Less

Worked wonders for clearing up my skin! However, after a few months of using this birth control I became extremely irritable. I didn't know it could be from the birth control so I blamed everything else until I went to my doctor for just a checkup. My doctor asked me about my spotting complaint and then asked me if I thought I was more irritable than usual. I was so shocked that this pill could make me feel that horrible. I switched forms of birth control and feel completely like myself again! If you don't like how a birth control makes you feel, be sure to talk to your doctor because there are so many different kinds out there, there is no need to just deal with it.Read More Read Less

I have tried other forms of birth control and so far this one has been the best. Other birth controls have made me extremely moody, crazy, and just not myself. But with Apri, I have no side effects. Very happy with it.

I was on Reclipsen for over 10 years and my OB/GYN sent in a script for Reclipsen. However, CVS only had Apri and said it was the same thing. Oh hell no, it is not the same. I have been on Apri for a little over a week and am severely bloated, moody (I feel like I want to kill everyone who looks or speaks to me), having severe sweating fits, cannot sleep, etc.. I am calling my Dr. tomorrow and having her get me off of this crap ASAP. My new health insurance makes me use CVS wherein before I used Walgreens who carried Reclipsen. If I cannot get reclipsen, I will just go off BC all together. Read More Read Less

I took Apri for about 4 months after my OBGYN recommended it as birth control and to also help with some mild acne I have. Apri was not effective for my acne as I still broke out, it made me feel bloated. I feel like I gained weight on the pill because despite all the exercise I did I still felt heavy and bloated. Whenever I reached the end of the pack I got very servere mood swings, I felt so down and depressed and My sex drive has majorly decreased. I just finished my last pack and am going to talk to my OBGYN. After reading these reviews I know now that Apri is the main culprit of all the changes I've noticed in my body since being on this medication.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Apri because I had abnormal periods (wouldn't get them months at a time). I took Apri for almost three years and I was pretty satisfied with it. Although, when I first started taking it I was nauseous every morning (sometimes actually vomited) and gained 15 pounds. It regulated my periods to every month and they only lasted 5 days and were pretty light compared to my periods that I used to get before taking the pill (which were very heavy and lasted up to 8 days). I never got pregnant or had a pregnancy scare, and I had a bad habit of missing pills. It cleared up my acne tremendously! I still had the occasional breakout a week before or during my period.I never had spotting or missed a period, I always knew what day I was going to get it every month. The only major issue I had with this pill is that I had NO sex drive, whatsoever. Before the pill, I never had an issue with my sex drive. This is the reason why I switched to a different pill. If it wasn't for the decreased sex drive, I would've stayed on this pill. Read More Read Less

I have used this pill for about 6 years now. At times my insurance stopped covering it and I was switched to a generic, but I am allergic to some dyes used in other birth controls. I have lighter, shorter periods, almost no acne. At first, my breasts were more full, but after about four years on the pill that decreased and I started having lots of bloating in my stomach area. I also started to have a decreased sex drive after about three years on this pill. Otherwise, I love it. I feel very balanced and only experience mood swings when I am just about to start my period.Read More Read Less

I have been on Apri for about a year now. Everything seemed fine until I went for my yearly examine and realized I had gained 20lbs in a year! The only explanation for this is Apri. I eat better than I have and exercise more so if anything I should weigh less, not 20lbs more. After reading other reviews of people gaining weight on this pill I am sure Apri is the cause of my weight gain and I will be calling my doctor to get my pill switched. Also have a decrease in sex drive.

My doctor started me on Apri a few months ago to help with my very heavy periods. I am 41 and have never smoked. Yes, my periods were lighter and shorter--down to 6 days instead of 8 and I no longer slept on towels. My skin cleared up for the first month, but then went back to the usual, but with a little less oil. However, my libido tanked, and the headaches started around the third month. The headaches became a daily occurrence, and started waking me up around 4 A.M. Nothing dulled the pain. I went back to the doctor and my blood pressure was *extremely* high (188/111). I immediately stopped taking the Apri, and now I'm on medicine to lower my blood pressure. It took about 9 days before the headaches stopped, and now it has been a month and my b/p has started to level out. The Apri did what it was supposed to do, but if you start having headaches I would advise you to get to the doctor quickly.Read More Read Less

I started taking apri three months ago, I am three days from starting pack #4. I am 21 and have never in my life taken a BC before, I started because i have a cyst on my ovary, heavy periods, and painful periods. The number #1 reason for taking it, was to shut my ovaries off to see if they cyst will go away on its own, also because i have moved in with my boyfriend and needed an effective BC ;). It has given me NO side effects, it has cured my heavy flow, although cramps still show up at times. My only complaint is that every other packet, i seem to have spotting for almost the entire three weeks! So i am going to keep taking it to see if my spotting/periods will become more regular. I think it might be my fault as i never take the sugar pills. always just switch to a new pack after the pink pills. Overall, very happy with it. Read More Read Less

I have been taking Apri for approximately three years now. It considerably helped calm my acne down and has been a blessing when it comes to regular periods. However, in the last year I have been experiencing major mood swings. Very odd for the symptom to show up so late in taking the medicine but I cannot find any other solution to the increasing depression and feelings of loneliness.

I have been on this medication for some time like 5 to 6 months and I can say at first it was good. As the months went my sex drive went down to two days a week from when he touch me I was ready. Seems like a mental block when it comes to the love making. The periods are cool short but I started to forget a lot of things that I shouldn't. This at work that are everyday task and feeling very lazy and getting the symptoms of depression. Am working now on a different pill to take.

I was only able to take Apri for a month and a half. Soon after starting, I had trouble sleeping. It also made me very depressed and my already low sex drive took a nose dive. I should mention that I have had depression for years, but it's well managed by my antidepressant. Apri seemed to counteract that medication completely. Needless to say, I couldn't take it the entire three-month trial period as recommended. The lack of sleep and depression were just too much for me. On to the next pill.......ugh Read More Read Less
