I took this medication for 20 days. After the first week my skin started itching and I started breaking out from my neck up. After the second week it continued to get worse. I called my doctor, who told me to double up and take a Zyrtec in the morning and Allegra at night. By the 20th day I called my doctor back and said, I am not taking it any more. I had such a severe skin reaction to it, that i...

I’ve been on this for almost two years and my allergies are 90% improved. I was on three Rxs and still had horrible post nasal drip and sinus headaches. Now I’m down to only 1. The side effects weren’t that bad and disappeared in two weeks. I highly recommend it, it was life changing for me. Plus, none of the hassle of doctor appointments with the shots!

I started this medication due to severe allergies related to household dust mites and anti-histamines not being effective enough anymore. I only took the medicine 4 days before I simply couldn't take the side effects anymore. Every time I took it, I would get swelling in my mouth, throat, eyes, and nose and would have 20-30 minute long sneezing attacks. It took me hours to come back to a comfortable level of allergy management I am accustomed to. I am now 2-weeks since my last dose and still feeling the negative effects. My throat stays sore, I still have swelling and sores under my tongue, and I fear my allergies have only gotten worse. Although it is not reported anywhere in the research, I have found that even food taste different now because of the damage to the underside of my tongue. Seriously, it hurts! Its like the worst eczema skin reaction you have ever experienced but in your mouth. I still have trouble eating acidic foods. After further research, I found that the drug had about a 17% rate of success in clinical trials. To me, the terrible side effects were NOWHERE NEAR the possibly of it maybe, potentially, kinda reducing my symptoms after months of taking it. If you are like me and can't escape the miserable allergies caused by household dust mites, do not make it worse by putting a concentrated dose of what you are allergic to under your tongue. It isn't worth it. Read More Read Less

I have been taking Odactra for 18 months. After ALK recently tripled the price of Odactra (not covered by most insurance plans), I decided to be re-tested for the allergy. Results of the skin test were the same as 18 months ago - no improvement.

For the first week or two while taking Odactra, I had minor symptoms that got better with each day. I experienced a very itchy throat for the most part, but I also had swelling of my lingual frenulum. That eventually subsided though. It's been almost a year now and my biggest complaint is that this stuff tastes horrible. It is not a pleasant taste, but at least it's easy to use. I just place it under my tongue, wash my hands, then finish getting ready for the day. Super easy! And now I can tolerate dust so much better. Before, I would get full body itchiness and even asthma attacks that wouldn't go away until I had a steamy shower. Now, I just get occasional sneezing, but that's only when I'm really dusting or vacuuming a lot. Overall, I'm very satisfied.Read More Read Less

Odactra has helped me with my dust mite allergies. Side effects of drug are noted within the first week of starting therapy. Side effects were mild itching, stuffy nose, and decreased taste. After the second week, side effects were gone. Be sure to wash hands when you hold the wafer and place under your tongue everyday. My dust mite allergy symptoms have been decreased by 50% thus so far since being on therapy a few months. No complaints.

I had such a severe skin reaction to it, that it was secreting out of my skin from my neck up,including the corner of my eyes, out of the lining of my lips and the skin on my face. That continued for weeks after I stopped the medication. And now I have been dealing with the same thing another person described. There is a coating on my tongue that will not go away, (as if I have thrush), my tongue has a constant burning and swollen sensation, as if I burnt it from eating something hot. This occurred after I stopped taking the medication. I am currently still experiencing this with my tongue and it has been 6 weeks since I stopped the medication. Before I ingested the medication for the first time, I told my doctor that it said, "it is recommended not to take the medication if a person has a thyroid issue", (well I do). My doctor continued to say it shouldn't be a problem. Well, I think it was because I had numbing from my elbows down (on and off through out the day), which occurred while taking the medication, then slowly went away after discontinuing it, but still have some numbness in my fingers. It is now going on the 11th week, almost 3 months since I first took Odactra. It has been the worst experience ever, and now very costly because the doctors had no answers of how to make it better. I had to find my own solutions and remedies, because my skin and body had became so hyper sensitive to dust mites after taking the medication. I wish I read up on it more before I took it. It has only been around since 2017 and there seems not to be enough documentation for it being effective. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!Read More Read Less

I have been using this for one month. Seems like this has killed my tastebuds as I cant taste any of my food, the insides of my mouth feels like its cut up and it burns something serious when I use mouth wash. I haven't seen much effectiveness but my Dr said give it 3 months. Not much itchiness from the first 2 weeks of use but the numb feeling is still there.

My initial reaction in the doctor's office was an itchy throat that lasted for at least 2 hours. After 4 days, my reaction to this medication including swollen tongue, inflamed and itchy throat and roof of my mouth. It was a frightening experience so I stopped. There is no build up period for this medicine like sublingual drops. The side effects are too uncomfortable to continue.

I've been on this drug one month, after I eat I cough, but I have had a lot of good days, sometimes. Sometimes I feel like cold water ruy down my back but that's not often. I'm satisfied with this pill cause I know it can't get nothing but better.

You take this under your tongue. My salivary glands swell and the underside of my tongue gets irritated and my lips burn. The first few days I could feel a warm sensation in my throat that was tight. I need to have an Epipen when I take it just in case. I seem to be sneezing in the morning some, but itâ??s only been three weeks since I started it. If it works and gets me off the other drugs, great!

I've only been on Odactra for 10 weeks but have experienced a noticeable reduction in my dust mite allergy symptoms. I can now breathe when lying in bed, whereas before I could not. I still sneeze and have an itchy nose and eyes but these symptoms have gotten much better as well.
