Having read many threads on this forum I havn`t read any from users who also suffer with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) so I thought it might be helpful to share my experience as I have had IBS since my late teens. I am 64 now. I started as most people do with a weekly injection of .25 mg to start my body to get used to Ozempic. I thought at first that I had no side effects. This was not quite cor...

the "instructions" state that I take .25mg for 1st week and then .5mg thereafter. The graduations on the pen show nothing but dashes until you reach 1mg. the instructions also state that you can only take 1mg with this pen. wtf?

I started taking this medication due to very high cholesterol and being overweight. Within 8 months, my cholesterol and A1C are perfect and I have lost 130lbs. I went from a size 18 to a size 2! I am extremely happy and I recommend it.

Ozempic has worked so well for me. With a family history of diabetes and continued weight gain I was prescribed Ozempic in August 2022. My starting weight was 237 and now March 2023 I’ve lost 40 lbs. Yes, some mild side effects but ALWAYS due to eating a poor choice of food, in my experience. I read all the reviews before starting and was really worried so thought I would share my experience and how helpful Ozempic has been both in weight loss and insulin resistance. For me, the weight loss has been gradual with some weeks showing nothing but have averaged 3-4 lbs per month. My cravings for sweets and snack foods has diminished although I do eat treats and lean into some mild cravings. I also seem to have lost my desire for red meat?!. Everyone has a different experience but all of my bad side effects were the direct result of eating greasy food/fast food/rich food/etc. Yes, there is some constipation but fibre made a big difference. My rings fit, I’m 4 sizes smaller, I sleep better, food is fuel not an addiction for me and the journey has been rewarding. I walk daily and try to make good food choices. Hope this help someone ??Read More Read Less

I’ve been on ozempic for 5 weeks now. Just moved up to the .5 dose. I’m down 26 pounds. However, in those 5 weeks I’ve missed 4 days of work due to extreme vomiting & diarrhea. I take my shots on Saturday. Today is Thursday & I haven’t left the house because of the vomiting & diarrhea. Yes I’ve lost weight but it’s probably water & muscle. Not fat. I feel wretched. I’m happy it’s worked for most people. Apparently not for me. I can’t push through the side affects. I’ve tried everything I’ve read & every day is worse than the day before. It’s just not worth it for me. They are so bad I can’t get off the bathroom floor. I’m stopping the medication & I pray these side affects go away sooner than later. Read More Read Less

The first month was difficult. Nausea, vomiting and extreme stomach pain but the side effects diminished after that. I've lost 60 lbs using ozempic. I'm very satisfied.

On it for 3 weeks now and I am using it for type 2 diabetes. I also have had some weird skin irritation, where there is no rash or apparent Irritation to look at. It feels like when clothes rub on sunburned skin like skin is slightly burning or something has continuously rubbed creating a burning or prickly sensation. This feeling started after the second week on it and it is on the back of my arms, front biceps, legs, and chest. From everything I've read this does not show up as a reaction.

Just took my fourth dose two days ago. Feel full faster but no weight loss at all. Some constipation but Metamucil fixed that. Really sleepy. Fell asleep at a stop sign! I wonder if the weight loss will ever kick in?

I am 59 years old, at a weight that makes it almost impossible to lose weight. I have lost 9 pounds in 18 days, I'm EXTREMELY SATISFIED. The side affects are day of injection, nothing, second day a little nausea, 3rd day, am nausea. After that very tolerable. You get full super fast. That's the best side affect. AMAZING drug!! I highly recommend for people who struggle with weight loss.

Began this medication in September, and while my A1c did drop. I have not lost any weight. I am up to a 1 mg dose. At the beginning, I did have burps that tasted like bad ham, and horrible heartburn, but those have subsided. I also have had some strange skin irritation, where there is no rash or apparent Irritation to look at it, I will get spots that feel burny, and feel like something has rubbed, and rubbed in the same spot. This, too has mostly subsided, but I had it on my hairline and the side of my head, on the outside of one thigh, and the back of one arm , no other real side effects, I exercise regularly and still no weight loss hoping a 2 mg dose will help with that. I have been a type two diabetic for 20 years. I had been on insulin and metformin to controlled my blood sugar. I hated having to eat when on insulin. I hated having to eat when I wasn’t hungry to avoid hypoglycemia. My doctor prescribed ozempic. I do have nausea and vomiting, depending upon what I eat. I must eat small meals no fatty foods and little sugar. I have lost 20 pounds in one year. My A1c is good. My fasting blood sugars range from 100 to 120. Overall I will put up with the side effects for the control of my blood sugar and weight. I have fucked with my weight for much of my life. It’s very nice to finally be the right BMI. There is no comparison between Mounjaro and Ozempic. Mounjaro is more effective and the pen is ready loaded ready to use. The ozemic pin is a disaster trying to put it together to test it to use it I had product all over my hand so I'm sure I missed at least two to three doses out of that pen and it cost me almost $600 for one month. Extremely disappointed. I am not taking this for weight loss I am taking this to lower my a1c. Frankly the manufacturer needs to reimburse me some money on this because it is such a poor mechanism to use. Let me add that I am a nurse and I know how to use injectables. For a layperson it has to be a disaster.Read More Read Less

My endo started me on this 4 months ago and I am type 1. My husband had been reading about the new meds available for type 2 and wanted me to ask if any of them could help with my bs ups and downs. She started me on the Ozempic .25. Immediately, it curbed my appetite. Side effects? Yes, but I have had irritable bowel off and on for over 40 years and and the side effects were similar to that. My dose has gradually increased to 1 mg. I have lost 25 #. but the best part is how my bs has evened out. I am on a pump and cgm so I can see how my numbers are and they have really improved! That, alone, is worth the side effects. Throw in the weight loss and I think this drug is amazing! I am still on private insurance but will probably switch to Medicare sometime in the future. I am unsure about coverage then. I will keep taking this as long as I can.Read More Read Less

I started ozempic in August of 22'. I have since lost 66lbs!. My A1C went from 10.75 to 7.5. I have been able to get off of two other diabetes medications I was on. I feel so much better than I used to. I had the initial stomach issues others have described, but those have gone away completely. I definitely cannot eat what I used to eat but I am happy with that. I am at 2mg right now. This medication was life changing for me.

I have been on Ozempic for 2 weeks now and I have lost 10 lb in the last 6 days. A little bit of back history first I am pre-diabetic and severely obese. I started with trulicity and lost 12 lb in 5 weeks, however I was having severe leg pains and I slept almost 24 hours a day. Then I was on victoza which I liked but I was gaining weight and I couldn't get past the lowest dose without feeling sick. I have severe IBS issues and both medications seem to completely eliminate the IBS that I normally experience. However the side effects and the sleeping was too much for me. Next I went on Rybelsus while I was waiting for Ozempic to be back in stock at my pharmacy. It is basically the pill version of the Ozempic. When I was finally able to fill Ozempic my doctor told me to take 5 mg because I'd already been Rybelsus however I only started with . 25mg. I had quite a bit of nausea along with IBS symptoms. The second week I took .5mg and I felt okay for the first couple days except for I felt like I had motion sickness. Then suddenly I was running to the bathroom with severe cramping and diarrhea along with vomiting at the same time. I literally could not eat anything for 3 days and like I mentioned I have lost 10 lbs in a week. By day 6 I started to get a little bit hungry but I'm still experiencing pretty bad cramping. The cramping feels like severe bloating which is just so uncomfortable. Seeing the number go down on the scale was exciting and I'm not sure that it's going to be worth all of this sickness that comes along with it or the triggering of my IBS. I have been unable to basically leave my house for days. I think that I will do today's injection as 0.25 mg and then in a couple days inject the other .25mg in hopes to ease some of the symptoms. I've been stuck at the same weight for so long that I'm just really hopeful that this will eventually subside and continue working on the weight loss and lowering my a1c. I can tell you that when I stopped the Rybelsus, I immediately gained weight back and I felt more hungry than I did before I started any of these medications. That is something I worry about, if I end up stopping Ozempic will I gain it all back. For now I just really need to work on the foods that I'm eating and changing my lifestyle and not just relying on the injection. I'm feeling very hopeful and excited at the possibilities of this medication can do for my overall health. Best of luck to everybody that's on it. I hope that you are able to succeed with whatever goal it is that you're reaching for. Read More Read Less

I came on here looking for people that have zero side effects and it looks like I'm the only one...WOW I must be the chosen one because I feel nothing, no nausea, no shit cramps, no diarrhea. I feel like I have lost probably 7pounds in the last 3 weeks as I was prescribed this medication for type 2 diabetes. Now maybe the tables will turn once I go up to .5 mg in a couple of weeks but till then absolutely zero side effects folks ;))))

My problem is not with the drug, but with the pen!!! After about 4 doses, the pen jams and I have to open another box for the pen. Then, I am behind. My insurance wants the deductible up front, so I need to pay $2,100 for 2 boxes. In order for me to get another pen, after it jams, I need to pay another $2,100 even though I don't need the meds as of yet. No help on this!!!

I suffered from IBS from the removal of a gastric band failure when I was 45 until I was 63. My weight gain and loss was like most of us...fast loss and more gain over and over. It is that I am now having a severe episode of IBS cramping about 48hrs after injection but it seems to taper off over a day or two. I am reducing stress and exercising more to compensate and hope all will go back to normal in a few months. The self control I have on Ozempic is nothing short of a miracle and impulse eating is way down. Ozempic has convinced my Neanderthal genes that my body is no longer starving to death just because food is "scarce"Read More Read Less

I am obese and pre diabetic. My Doctor recommended this to lower my A1c and lose weight. I had some side effects. Fatigue, nausea, rash. For the first 5-6 weeks I was feeling fuller longer and lost about 7 pounds. Then it just stopped working as an appetite suppressant/weight loss. While moving up to .50mg I gained the 7 pounds back within 3 weeks. Surprisingly it cured my IBS. Well actually I went from diarrhea all the time to being constipated. I am not sure which one I prefer.
